- Ninja Foodi XL Pro Air Fry Oven - Cleaning. Now I must admit that I haven't had a lot of time lately so this is why my Ninja Foodi XL Pro Air Fry Oven looks so badly. But, I managed to clean it up substantially, not like new but it's okay with me. I am not perfect but I believe I'm a least 80 percent and I will not be hard myself. Take a look at what I used with items that are already in my home.
I used:
Baking Powder
Vinegar
Dishwashing liquid
Brillo
Brush

I needed this video. Not just the “how to” but the affirmation that 80% is better than 0 and that I’m doing the best I can ❤ thank you
You are so welcome Amber!! We are all more than 80%! We are all damn good. Don’t be hard on yourself or let anyone else do it❤️❤️😘
I agree the affirmation ❤
Thank you for posting this video. I almost threw away my air fryer until I found your video.
You’re welcome ☺️
Stephanie, I have tried everything I could find to try and clean my oven. This is by far the best and easiest method. I’m new to this whole thing and you are walking me through it all. Thank you, thank you.
You’re welcome Lisa! Thanks for watching 😊❤️
Thank you Stephanie. My wife and I use ours on a daily basis. We got it this past Christmas. It is an awesome little machine amd cooks oir food perfectly. Unfortunately it gets dirty and is hard to clean. I appreciate you making this video as my wife has been complaining she can't get the oven clean. I'm going to try to surprise her with a clean oven using your method as sponges and magoc erasers are not cutting it. As they say, happy wife happy life LOL. Thank you.
Hi Samuel! Boy, you are a great husband. This method worked well for me as you can see, my oven was dirty and it was still not 100 percent but much better than before. Use just a little less soap to make it easier to clean out. All and all it worked well. Let me know how your oven comes out.
That is very sweet of you!
Our oven is so dirty we can't cook food it in anymore because everything tastes burnt now. Thank you for sharing this video, it make it feel more doable to clean now. Also appreciative of using common household items and no fancy products. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
@@jamietemplar3254 you are so welcome and I hope it works for bc I know I’ll need my oven over the holidays! Happy holidays to you and your family ❤️❤️
I just cleaned my microwave, air fryer, over. Here way of clean were excellent. I wish that I had taken a picture of before after. It was really clean. I tried other ways none worked. Give her 5 stars . Ty
Thank you Charlene❤️. I use this on my other appliances too, including even the bathtub and shower!!
I really like that. 80% is better than zero percent! Perfect! Well done. Thank you
Thank you Blaine😍
Thank you Stephanie! So great to see someone clean with safe cleaners and not dangerous chemicals. I would love to see a lesson on how to clean the metal guards around the heat elements. Mine are about 50% stained black from stuff burning on them.
Thanks for watching Elliott. I’m not sure how to get to the heating element but if I find out, I’ll let you know.
You use a sponge with water and go to town with it comes right off.
You can clean the heating elements and the guards the exact same as everything else.
What I did after I finished scrubbing everything (including all the heating elements) was a couple minutes air fry on low temperature with nothing in the oven (I did 300). That intake fan running full power will clean out any gunk you accidently got in the fan or back parts you can't get to (it will end up inside the oven in the back corners so you have to wipe it off)
Then the heating rods will turn the baking soda into semi-hard crumbs that fall right off when running a damp paper towel into that tiny space between the guards and the rods.
So yeah, just clean everything and run the oven empty for a few minutes to help you finish up.
@@LotsOfBologna2will this work with with scraping burnt plastic off?

You’re welcome Beverly! I know what you mean 🥹. It happens, we’re human so don’t even worry 😊. 80% is pretty doggone good 👍🏾
I regret buying mine to be honest, because it gets so charred up. I bought mine to replace my oven at Christmas, and Christmas dinner was the first time I used it. Shocking how mucky it was afterwards, but even more shocking was how it had already baked on when I tried to clean it the same day!
This video is a life saver, thank you ❤
You’re welcome. I think it cooks great but it does get dirty 😳
Thank u so much Miss Stephanie! Mine is worse than urs ws. My husband made a mess of it. I needed good advice to clean it, and found it with u. 😊❤

Thank you for this. I was trying to figure out how to clean mine. Mine looks like yours did before cleaning. My teens and I use it allll the time! Hey CATill71, yes we are. We are ALL Human and if we get 80 percent...we are doing damn good!! I heard not to use brillo pads as they take off the interior protective coating. Like another poster I've given up cleaning mine so when it goes I will buy another brand

I just bought my Ninja. I guess I should have learned about cleaning it BEFORE I made a major purchase. Here in the EU these are twice as expensive as in the States so I won't be tossing it out after a year but I might be doing messy air frying in my other regular airfryer that I can just wipe down after each use.
Yes, you can wipe down with each use that will help to keep it clean.
Hi Stephanie!!I Love it!!! I'll have to try this!!

Thanks. I was wondering how am I gonna clean this mess. I have the same toaster oven. Thanks for the video.
You are welcome Motts!! Just don't use as much dawn because a little goes a long way.
Wonderful job! :) thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!❤️
Brillo/brush needs to be some what soft. Steel wool or hard scrub pad/brush can scratch up the oven. Just warning yall. A sponge with the scrub side (softened or slightly used) and a toothbrush is best.
Also if you allow the "paste" to sit few hours or overnight, the built up grease comes off easier.
Would a grill brush type of thing be safe?
@@MH-bw9ztnothing abrasive. Not even a brillo pad in fairness. I think the recipe Stephanie gives and a washing up brush. Or a steam clean. It's not coated like a conventional oven and will eventually rust if you keep scrubbing it ❤
Brilliant tip 👌
Great Job! I'm familiar with the vinegar and baking soda trick. I use that to unglog drains but adding the Dawn is genius. I haven't tried to clean mine yet because I was worried about getting liquid in the fan. I was also about to try oven cleaner before I saw your video. I like your method better. Oven cleaner is probably to harsh on the metals. The instructions probably say not to use it anyway. Thank you for this video.
You’re welcome Suzie. You really don’t need too much Dawn because a little goes a long way.😉❤️
What kind of brush are you using to apply the baking soda/dish soap paste? Thank you Stephanie!❤
Hi PrettyFaerie7
I believe I got that brush at a dollar store to help wash my dishes. I applied the concoction with my hand and a glove then I brush it with the brush and a little steel wool. I hope that helps☺️😊❤️
Thank you so much for this information. I’m gonna try it on mine!
You’re very welcome Tina!! I just used some on my granite counter, it works well there too.😊
I just found your videos and I love them you are so helpful! Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you korn2040. It's my pleasure. Have a great day and thanks for watching.

Did you get any of the cleaning stuff on the heating elements,?
Yes, I did get some on the top where the heating element is. I didn’t get too much on it though
Is it safe to spray onto the heating elements?
I sprayed it every where and I didn’t have a problem
How did you get rid of the cleaning residue after? Left over baking soda mix and vinegar smell? Thank you for the cleaning tips
Hi Zachary,
I had to keep washing it out with clear water. I realized that I used too much soap. Eventually the smell goes away. I hope that helps.
Can you use easy-off oven cleaner ?
Hi Trish. No, I don’t think you’re supposed to use easy off in this oven. Happy Holidays
You did a great job!!
Thank you!!
Hi Stephanie, thank you for your video. Can you share your review on this air fryer please? Our Philips air fryer just broke and we want to buy a new one and we are still deciding this one and the Ninja air fryer and grill one? some of my friends said the air fryer and grill one is much more easier to clean?? Thank you.
Hello Maya
You know I thought I did a review but I actually didn’t. That’s a great idea and I’ll work on doing one. Thank you for your suggestion ❤️❤️
Does the fan come on immediately or does it come on after it’s preheated? When I make toast, it doesn’t come on immediately. On bake, it will come on immediately. Sometimes the fan is louder than other times?! Just trying to trouble shoot!
I’m warming so pizza now and the fan did come on immediately. I’m not sure when it supposed to come on or not but I’ll keep an eye on it. ❤️
Great cleaning tips! I certainly can use that formula. Love the hair! PS....you look tired! 💜💜💜
Yes girl I am tired, and yesterday I fell on some loose pavement after coming from taking my Covid test for work. I was on the clock so it’s workers comp but my goodness, I sure didn’t want to fall. Very soon, it will be over!🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@StephaniesKitchen …soo sorry that u fell/were in pain! Pray that u made a full recovery!!
@@peacekeeperbabe thank you 😊
Does the vinegar have to be warm?
its a lot better than it started but, if these things are that difficult to clean then are they worth the money? not sure they are
I love the convenience of them. I hardly use my regular oven anymore, bc it heats the entire house. Maybe mine gets so dirty because I really use it a lot.😊😂 OR my family uses it a lot. Either way I will use mine.
Like you said, have to keep up with cleaning those machines every time we use it because when we don’t a pain in the but to clean.
Pain in the butt* sorry for misspelling.
Totally appreciate this video... I just need to not mix as much dishsoap so it rinses better.
You’re welcome Angela!! 😉
How do you clean the heating elements? Thank you?
Hi Trisha
The heating element that’s on the top I also cleaned with same thing and wiped it out. The fan behind the cover, I couldn’t get to but I tried to clean the cover the best I could. I hope that helps.❤️
@@StephaniesKitchen how about the bottom heating element?
@@trishmiles5114 same thing. I used it every where.
@@StephaniesKitchen okay! Great … thank you!
This is one of the hardest appliances I have to maintain. I find this unit has so many nooks and crannies, and the metal itself is difficult to get clean, and it pits easily. I don't know why, for the price, they did not enamel the interior like normal ovens.
That makes sense!! But I think they want you to keep buying it over and over again 🤦♀️. Happy New Year!!
Ninja had to cut corners somewhere to keep the price low.
Muchas gracias :)
You’re welcome 😄
Thanks
You’re welcome 😉 ❤️
Do you use a cleaning brush to scrub, even the circle part where the holes at?
Hi Zena. Yes, I did scrub with the brush by the circle but I couldn't get in there that well.
Could I put the vinegar in a container and put it in air fryer and turn on? Or will that be a fire hazard
SW- I’m really not sure, I would think that the container might melt. But if it doesn’t melt it will probably splash all over bc that’s what the fan will do. I don’t really think it would cause a fire though.
@@StephaniesKitchen good point. I have tried that method with the microwave cleaning and found the steam from the warm vinegar helped decrease the amount of scrubbing when cleaning microwave

Wouldn't easy off been a lot faster?
@@duanedrummond5532 possibly but I don’t believe you’re supposed to use that. Happy holidays
Did you apply the mixture to the lights?
😂
Lol 😂 no I didn’t
Years ago these types of ovens were made with non-stick coatings that required a wipe down after use and remained clean, almost as new , but the problem was that they lasted too long. This was not a good business model..........
I agree
It's good because it's not toxic like the coated ones, the coated ones cause cancers and other immune problems
That non-stick coating was not safe. In fact, no non-stick coating is safe in any appliance or cookware. I'm glad these companies listened and moved away from nonstick coatings.
I used cleaning vinegar..it's stronger than food grade vinegar.
Thank you for sharing.🥰
Wow. Thankyou.>
Welcome!
Mines is so bad I don’t wanna buy a new one I can’t get the stains out
I understand that but if you tried my method and it's not better, than try using the pink stuff amzn.to/3KU4yW6
That's my link. I did use some on the oven before it did cut the grease too. I used the paste but you can try the spray too. Give it a try before you buy a new one especially if it's still working. I really love that oven. 🥰🥰
Do you also put it on for an hour or so to make it dry everything and disinfect everything?
Hi Sasha
I put it on and let it sit to give it a chance to work. I would let it sit at least 10 to 15 minutes. Happy Thanksgiving 😍😍
@@StephaniesKitchen thankyou for your video. I have an aldi air fryer oven and it's so difficult to clean. I am considering getting the ninja foodi xl I like the fact that it's bigger and it will most likely be alot easier to clean cause the elements at the bottom are higher than the one I have. I've had about 6 to 7 different airfryers, 3 out of them being oven style and I prefer the oven style cause you can cook more at once. What are your opinion on the foodi xl? Have you got a review video??
@@sburns834 Hi Sarah! I believe I did do a review on most the Ninja's that I have. It's funny, they almost all are called Foodies. LOL!! But the Ninja XL Oven is a great oven. We use it all the time for both air frying and baking or what ever I would use a small oven for. I like the size especially as an oven because it doesn't heat the whole house up when you turn it on. My favorite Ninjas are the XL Oven, the XL Grill and the new Speedi. I'm loving the Speedi. I will be making more videos on the Speedi soon. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Using all that liquid in an electrical appliance is a bad idea especially the vinegar which is an acid and will eat the parts inside the oven where you can't get at to wipe it out like around the fan and the electrical connections inside the walls of the oven. Next time try a Mr Clean magic eraser or cloths it is a lot easier, damp wipe after using.
Extremely bad idea! Now I can't get rid of baking soda after each time I run the air fryer, it's flying as snow all over the toaster! Basically I have to throw in the trash my old toster and get a new one! This advice costed me $200!
So sorry it didn't work out for you.
This is a design issue in my opinion if they had used a ceramic coating inside the oven if would have made things a whole lot easier
They need a better coating in the oven. I loved mine but I gave it to my daughter. The cleaning is a bad thing.
Agreed!!
Disappointing when I see people who want to believe that somehow vinegar and baking soda can help clean anything. Sorry, vinegar is an acid, and baking soda is a base, alkaline. When they meet, the first thing they do is equalize the -pH or the vinegar with the +pH of the baking soda. The bubbles are simply excess C02 released. The results is a basically a water solution either very weakly acidic or alkaline depending upon which there was more of.
I have to go clean my XL grill, and a simple brillo pad with a baking soda paste will work much, much better as alkalines breakdown greases much more than acids, unless you want to use a much, much stronger acid.
You probably don't.
Thanks for your opinion
