    A little trick. I learned from my Cuisinart that a lot of splatter goes up and cakes on the top and the upper heating elements. So I purchased a 2nd air fry basket and put it above what I'm cooking. This stops almost all of the splatter and doesn't interfere with the air flow.

    • @peacefrog0521
      @peacefrog0521 Год назад +3

      Wow great tip. I’ve got an old round fine mesh splatter shield with a handle, it’s meant to go over a frying pan or saucepan. I might have to dig that out and try it. Probably I’ll have to cut off the handle 😅

    • @richardgodlove9662
      @richardgodlove9662 Год назад +3

      @@peacefrog0521 That would do the trick. You're right, you'll have to remove the handle, then lay it on one of the racks. Perfect.

    I've watched a number of YT videos on how to cook a steak in an air fryer and your video has been the best so far. I especially liked your comments on why you used the air fry option instead of the broil or grill options. I also liked that you used the temp prob to monitor the doneness of the steaks. Thanks for the great tips.

    I can’t believe you stopped at 2 bites!!! It looks so good and I appreciate how (and why) you do each step. Very clear and easy to follow. I can’t believe Ninja doesn’t really have a good steak recipe in the little cookbook they give (just guidelines). Now I know how to use the probes, what temperature to use, and the time. Thanks so much, can’t wait to make my own delicious steak!!!

    Mmmm, steak! I've heard people cook steaks in air fryers, but for me, only cooking for myself, I cook them way faster searing in a skillet then finishing in the oven. Cook time is generally 10-12 minutes. In the skillet, I start with a little olive oil and coarsely chopped garlic on medium high heat, put the steak in to sear each side for about 1 - 1.5 minute. I add butter in and spoon it onto the steak. I also sear the edges, holding the steak with tongs. I personally use cast iron, but I also have stainless copper clad high end skillets that work well and can also go straight into the oven. For my oven, it takes about another 6-7 minutes to get an 8 oz fillet to medium. I'm sure if I were cooking larger ribeye like yours it would take longer. Those look to be 12-14 oz steaks.
    Thanks for the great demo, I'm going to try this method just to see if I can have a less involved way to cook them. Instead of using the grill mates, try using just some Himalayan pink salt and try to find some Malabar black peppercorns and coarsely grind the pepper for your seasoning. Also, put the seasoning on the sides....it's simple, but has great results flavor-wise.

    Darnell thank you for yet another detailed and outstanding demonstration. I love Ribeye steaks and mostly I use my Ninja Foodi Grill for Ribeye steaks and they come out great; I cook them to a medium rare around 130 degrees before I pull them. Mostly I try to buy larger steaks to about 2-inches in height but sometimes it's hard to get thick steaks at the grocery store unless I go to my local butcher shop.
    Using the Foodi Grill, grill function at High heat 500 degrees, give me fantastic sear marks each side and I do the 3-2-1 method (3 minutes each side, then 2-minutes each side followed by 1-minute each side which gives me a juicy medium rare cook, which I prefer. I've used the McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning which is good but lately I have been using McCormick Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon Seasoning which adds a great flavor and helps render the fat in the steak much better.
    I'm definitely going to make some Ribeye steaks in my Ninja Oven using the method you have shown. Yep the middle one is more to my like-n... Darnell you are the man!

    Nice demonstration. I would add, you need to pull the steaks out when they hit about 10 degrees below your desired temp and let the steak sit for about 5 min. If you like your steak medium rare, about 135 F, then pull it out at 125F. The steaks will continue to cook when you pull them out and they will also retain more juice if you let them sit 5 min before cutting them.

    I use to do the same thing you're doing now, pour my oil over whatever I'm cooking. I pour just a little oil into one of those little cups that come with the rice cookers and spread the oil with a silicone basting brush. Make less of a mess and there's less oil that would creat smoke as well. Just remembered that canola oil starts to smoke at 400° vs almond oil, which I use, that smokes at 500°.

I have a large London broil that I would like to try and I've always marinated it overnight in ken's Italian dressing, ketchup, and Coke so I'm wondering should I pat the marinade to get most of it off before putting in the air fryer and then heat thoroughly the marinade to use as a sauce after as I don't want the sugars in the marinade to really burn

I have the new Ninja Smart XL Pro Air Oven with the built in intuitive thermometer and I love it. The other thing that I like is the new generation of Ninja Foodi XL Pro Air Ovens are built differently and do not have the fan guard/splatter shield in the back which has helped for better and hotter Surround Heat Technology. As always, another #Deelish how to recipe video and I’m sure I’ll see you in the next one. Until then #StaySafe 😷 & #HappyCooking 🍗. Kevin🎗

    How was the cleanup, especially for the mesh basket?
    Wondering if anyone here has done this (maybe with just 1 or 2 pieces, with the regujar-sized (non-XL) Foodi oven? Probably the basket needs to be on the next-lowest level so as not to risk spattering the heating elements.

      Cool, with lamb you probably don't want to cook them as hot though.

      @@WaveOvenRecipes i figured the same-- they weigh less, have a bone in, and i try to shoot a little closer to rare. i might do something like 400 for 15, temp them-- flip 'em, and do another 7 or 8. cheers!

    7:56 careful on that 6 outlet extender. Ninja Foodi uses about 1800 watts. If you use the same outlet for a blender or another appliance, you might throw the breakers.
    Need to keep you cooking Darnell and the fire department away. :)

    Excellent video and info, thank you! I was surprised it took that long to get to 150. A traditional oven would've been about 13 minutes.
