Ninja Foodie XL Pro Air Oven - Unboxing & Real World Testing

  • Today we will be unboxing and evaluating this Ninja Foodi XL Pro Air Oven. Ive had success with Ninja before and our old oven had broken so we had decided to take a chance. Initially the video was to be released after over a month of evaluation, but I had the opportunity to test it a good six months before release as we will se why later in the video.
While kitchen appliance reviews are not my forte nor the channel theme, I wont pass up the opportunity to post a gadget if its cool, in grabbing the content, you dont know if something will be video worthy as the project progresses. After all, its an oven. This however proved to be more interesting than i'd thought.
The prospect of frying with air is not new, nor is convection. We had convection in our old oven. I believe the accessories and features that surrounds it along with the coating that holds the heat in, as shown with the IR camera is what sets it apart. A purchase of a cook book for it by the wife made it a more interesting project as well.
The two attempts I really wanted to try most of all was to see if the 2 hour turkey was really possible. It didn't disappoint. The other attempt was to replicate Ruth's Chris with a Ribeye. I believe I will have to refine my technique on that one.
The only negatives was on my first oven, the inner coating started to come off. They sent another oven, for which I had to cover shipping. The oven is bare bones, so if you want to give the old one to a friend, it will cost about 100$ to re-compliment it fully. Ninja is wise to this.
The second issue is that the button labels on the ovens; its paint seems to wear off over time. They have replaced the labels with a low quality sticker instead of addressing the issue.
All in all though, it makes a turkey as perfectly as it toasts toast. Its a great oven.

One of the best reviews of this kind I've seen so far! Thank you.
It's *very* helpful that it's not just a quick unboxing and first impressions, but a real indepth review over a longer period of time. Especially interesting that you even recorded your impressions over several months after your first oven got replaced. So we even could see if the customer service does a good job or not. You've used those 15 minutes very well. Every bit of information is worth watching.

There's a simple solution to keeping the oven clean. Line the inside with foil. I do this around the trays inside my convection fan oven and it's very effective as the trays are like new plus I've only had to refoil once in the last year

@@theriac. i would have to say you don't even have this oven .
      1. Many manufacturers say specifically NOT to do this as it can become a fire and electrical Hazard.
      2. Even if you were stupid enough to try, the racks and baskets are constantly being moved depending on cooking on this oven and would quickly tear up and dislodge the foil
      3. This is an air fryer . It has a massive fan which blows very hard inside the whole oven and the risk of blowing a piece of foil over a vent is very real ..
      4. Said giant fan circulates fat and grease and you cant cover the giant fan so the blades and vent obviously get covered in grease

For this reason extra care is taken to burn them off. Feel free to search google with such concerns in the Chinese food preparation chain. This concludes our conversation on the matter.

This should go without saying given the different cleanliness standards employed in the "production/packaging" processes compared to kitchen food preparation.

I see you took the comment to be offensive. It is well known stuff made in China can be highly toxic, even down to products made for babies! There are cancer causing properties in these chemicals and I am glad this RUclipsr made a point about it. And I am sure that if the product was made elsewhere he would have made the same comment about the chemicals. In fact if you look on Bird owner websites they are very concerned about what they use to cook with because fumes are given off each time the product is heated up and poisons the birds. Manufacturers are now starting to make a point of labeling cooking items as PFOA and PTFE free so that helps. It would be great if all manufacturers around the world made their stuff without that poisonous crap in it.

JUNK, Stay away from this Scrap, The one I purchased on 12/19/21 started to give me problems 3 Months after I purchased it, First the LED Lights in the Timer & Temperature started to go out, then the Button that turns on the Interior Light failed, Calls to Ninja started with No One Answering the Phone, and Finally after waiting on HOLD for 40+ minutes someone answered the Phone, when I told them about the Problems I was having they gave me the run around about getting repairs, with a Promise to get back to me, after 2 weeks I called back and waited again, and then the Phone started ringing and I heard the receiver pick up on their end and then Back Down which ended the call, Luckily when I ordered this Scrap through Amazon I purchased their 4 Year Extended Warranty, I called the Toll Free Number and got a Person within 30 Seconds who listened to the Problems I was Having with Ninja repairing it under their factory Warranty, she told me No Problem they would take care of it, within 1 minute I received and Email with a Prepaid Shipping Lapel and instructions on packing it, I then called UPS and the arrived at my Home and pick it up, and I had the Price I paid for it Fully Refunded the next business day, I will never purchase another NINJA Chinese Made Junk appliance again.
