After the unboxing a cleaning is conducted as prescribed in the manual and a chlorine filter added to the unit. The drip coffee side is tested first. Though i'm not a fan of drip coffee I do so for the video. The drip coffee also has an added auto-start feature in conjunction with a clock to auto start the perking in the morning. This was also tested. Cleanup steps are conducted for the drip side thereafter.
Moving onto the espresso side. There are a lot more things going on as expected. Note the pod filter portion will not be used in the video nor will the single filter portion, only the double. The spoon supplied is also the tamper for the portafilter. A cleaning is conducted on this side as per the manual just as the other side.
For testing, i'm using the same beans as I use in my Jura S8. Espresso Italiano, and since this machine doesn't grind beans, i've purchased a manual grinder. An electric one would be fine too, this one has multiple settings for coarseness, which i'd experimented with until I'd found the ideal setting. Furthermore note that there is no autostop feature on this machine for single or double shots so I have also purchased a shot measuring cup to solve for this issue, showing 1 or 2 oz which is what i need.
Another observation is the performance without preheating. The portafilter seems to soak a lot of the heat if cold as shown in the thermometer testing. The peak with just water on the second run was 174deg which was still below the requisite 195deg but this is not a 3000$ machine.
I did use the supplied spoon in this video as well as the supplied tamper. Calling for 2 level spoons for a double. The tamper works but is delicate. its important to tap and distribute the grinds first. Frothing follows and the volume is of course subjective to the application, but overall the frother works well.
The first cappuccino was surprisingly awesome. We conduct a cleanup procedure for the video afterwards.
Once cleaned, further tests were conducted to see how long the machine runs before the light starts flashing, meaning it no longger has the pressure/temp for espresso. Admittedly the results weren't good. 3/4 to the 2os mark.
Ive added an after market tamper/distributor to the mix, i want to check the results when the coffee is know to be evenly placed and pressed in the portafilter. Its adjustable, so it took me a few tries to get it right for this setup.
Retesting with coffee stopping at the light using a double in the portafilter, the light on the unit started flashing at about 17ml, ideally it should have been 60ml. But again its not a 3000$ machine. Most people would not notice.

"Conduct a standard clean up of the espresso area now" 😂 love it
This is a top-shelf presentation! Film and sound quality is first-rate!! Many thanks!!!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video! Have been contemplating this model for a while. After watching your video, we feel more confident on the prep process. Finally ordered this model. Thanks.
Glad I could help!
Good Stuff! Purchased one, have never made espresso or Cappuccino. Instructions were ok but you made it much easier and informative. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this video. You did an amazing job. 👏

"Like a VCR" that made me smile xD
Still haunts some of us

thanks a lot realy
Heeey, thanks for this amazing video. So well done and easy to watch.
I have only one question, the portafilter is 51 mm?
Greetings from México.
That was a great thorough video on this product that I've been contemplating for to long. My ques is by upgrading to a bottomless portafilter do you think it will elevate the espresso side? I need a good Americano whereas my wife is fine with the drip. It would be awesome to see a part 2 video showing the espresso side with upgraded components (you ve already got the tamper fixed). Thanks again!!
The tamper needed an update , the portafilter is sufficient for what it is. I did not upgrade the bottom end.

Nice transitions; like that boom boom sounds
You ever get that chassis for your Coleman stove cleaned up ??
The complete restoration is on the schedule
We have been contemplating this model, but Amazon has maybe 3.5 rating out of 2,880 reviews. Anyone have thoughts on this? I have read the reviews & it’s very mixed…thoughts?
Ha!ha! He set time for 420🤣
I have this but hate the fact you fill the expresso side with water and have to stop it manually. Any work arounds?
Great video! Just bought this machine based off your review. Our espresso doesn’t come out in a smooth flow like yours. It’s coming out in a slow drip (~5 mins) any recommendations?
Probably has to do with your puck prep, I found that you need to buy a distribution tool and tamper to help pack the ground in, I also use a puck screen to help with flow, total time should be 15-20 seconds
Por favor me podrían ayudar mi cafeteria prende y la pongo a funcionar con el café pero no funciona no sale el agua
Sweet!! I just bought this model at the thrift store for $3!! Now I know what to do to use it!
Wow 3$, Score!
I noticed you did not use the Descaler water pouch for the cleaning process. Do we need to use it or is it optional.
Descaling is used as scale builds up not when new
I am having trouble with the bold function for the drip coffee. Works perfectly when selecting it after pressing the “Coffee ON/OFF” button, but when I try to press it after setting the AUTO, nothing happens. Any ideas?
Did you try setting bold on before auto to see if that would work for you. Auto may lock out functionality

Interesting! I tried to follow your steps without success but I did find something in the process.
It seems the “BOLD” button can only be pressed after pressing the “Coffee ON/OFF” button first. However, I believe that the machine memory keeps track if the “BOLD” function was on or off after pressing the “Coffee ON/OFF” button again to turn the machine off.
I found this out by setting the auto for a few minutes ahead and waiting to see it turn on. When it did, the bold came on as well!
In short, the function DOES work with the auto feature, but both the instructions and the button panel are VERY vague about letting you know that the function is working properly.
Thank you for the help!!!
Do you have a problem of excessive water in expresso side drip tray? my drip tray fill up to full in one brew.
Water yes, but not excessive.
Hi our espresso tank leaks when we fill it. We just unboxed it? Any recommendations?
Return for another.
Hi plz i just buye delinghi like this one but i dont know how can i fixe a filtre for cappuccino
Just use filtered water.
Can the pod espressos be used with it ?
Yes, there is an attachment for them.
@@retrotechandelectronics Do you know which pods? Where to purchase?
Qual o preço obrigado
Great video. But it seems like to much of a work for just an espresso. On my way to Starbucks 😢😢
...enjoy.
4:20 i see what you did there
:)
A bit of a faff. I’ll stick to my Moka!
Simple and effective
The video is ok! The machine is terrible. No wonder you can find in second hand market.
What's terrible about it?
