  • In this video, I show you the Staresso Discovery II Portable Grinder and Mirage Plus 3 Portable Espresso Maker. These were sent unbenounced to me, but I am curious, so let's try them out. The Mirage by the way uses a 53mm basket, and it comes pressurized. I have to try it with a non-pressurized basket, too.

    I use the Aeropress every day currently, although I use the stainless steel filter, and I grind to almost espresso grind. I enjoyed this video and I may look at this grinder after I upgrade a few other items on my coffee bar. I'm not convinced that the espresso pump would be something I would use.

    Glad that you finally tried Staresso SP-300 Mirage Plus! It's indeed a manual espresso maker that takes a bit of a learning curving to have a proper espresso pressure extraction. Anyway, in Thailand in general, they modify the pumping and change them with an air pumping that will be connected with electric air pump such as Xiaomi Mi 1S Air Pump. Staresso also has updated with a larger bottom area stand for Staresso SP-300 Mirage Plus, in order to create more space for much more common coffee scale as the original stand one fits with really limited choices of coffee space (most common that fit with original one are Wacaco Exagram and Acaia Lunar) - similar problem faced by Cafelat Robot and Hugh's Leverpresso.

    Great video Tom! Sound, video and Internet connection are all excellent. That device would take some getting used to for me. I have a MACAP grinder and a La Spaziale S1 Vivaldi espresso machine. But I admit they would be pretty hard to fit into a suitcase😀.

      Well, that sounds like a great set up you have! You should be able to make excellent espresso and milk drinks with that. This was just a fun little video to unveil two new products to me. I think the grinder could actually come in pretty handy.

    Love the Aeropress cameo! I would just suggest getting the Fellow Prismo attachment, then you can make something like espresso as well ;)

    Very interesting product and review. I can see it useful in remote locations or for traveling.
    Thank you for presenting these new products. Though i may not see a use now it may be something for me in the future.

    Hi @tomscoffeecorner I am new to the channel. I stumbled upon you while researching budget espresso machines. Working my way through your library. Is there a video where you explain your preference for non pressurized vs pressurized baskets? I am a beginning roaster and brew with Moccamaster, V60, & Aeropress w/Prismo cap. Cheers

    I’d love to see 1ZPresso make a little motor like that for their grinders. Something in the $100-200CAD range for 1ZPresso’s build quality. I wouldn’t mind it being hard wired for power, rather than battery, as it would be for home not travel. Considering the motor for the Staresso only adds $30USD, a better quality motor should be doable for under $150USD. Then I could buy a second, pour over focused grinder, from 1ZPresso to go with my espresso focused J-MAX.

      The Madkat SkopeX is going to have adapter kits for 1ZPresso (and Comandante, Kinu). Also an optional variable rpm module. So a ZP6 for filter and J-Max for espresso would be quite different (especially with lower and higher rpm). But it's more expensive and not shipping to Canada by the looks of the pre-order page. Hedrick did review the old version that was only for the Comandante.

      @@grayjay3141 Yes. Someone else reviewed a newer version along side a competing product that was similar. But they are too big, expensive and difficult to easily swap from one grinder to another. If they had modular attachment pieces so you could swap grinders like le son an SLR camera, they would be useful for multiple grinders.

      @@coreycannon4511 On the SkopeX it does look like they swap like that. You have a collar on each grinder and can then just twist in and out each grinder.

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner ye like I mentioned, I have a similar grinder bought cheap from aliexpress, ofc is plasticky but for my needs is great, grinds quite fine and is great for my moka pots, dont have an espresso machine yet, would be great if you made more vids on these types of portable powered grinders, curious if there are better ones out there or if I should stick to this cheap one I have

      Any other battery grinders?

      @TomsCoffeeCorner  9 дней назад

      @@Darx97 Honestly, I don’t know. This is the first battery operated grinder that I’ve used. I didn’t think they would have the torque to grind. But it works pretty well.
