Sun Bonnet Sue…as early as 1800’s !!!! Early 1900 you can find books!
So beautiful and has been popular!
I hand painted one on the doors of an antique 3 door ice box my sister had in late ‘70/early ‘80’s???
She never gets old! (I’m now 72 years old!)
That quilt will be precious when you finish it!!!!!❤And yes I started out on an old wooden quilting frame- in my living room at the time!-a house that was built in 1902!!!!

When I worked I mostly sewed clothes, for myself & grand children, but I would go to Wal-Mart, my only fabric store in 50 miles & pick up fat quarters and cut up in t o 2.5 Sq blocks for leaders & enders, & ended up with around 23 or so 9 patch blocks with matching fabric & then the store would not carry that line, or some 2.5 squares were left over material from a dress or another quilt. Now that I am age 82, I need to find a pattern to encorporate these blocks into a quilt of some kind. I do not want family or whomever throwing these blocks away.

Love seeing your Vintage Sewing Machines! I am sewing along with the Lori Holt Scrappy Spools & using up brown scraps too. But Your Idea of using one brown print per month is great. I have been worried about the same brown fabric ending up next to each other. You just solved this dilemma! Thanks so much & thanks for the UFO challenge idea also. YES! it so hard to stay focused with such a large "Quilt Buffet" out there.

I was so excited to see you had posted another video! You soothing voice and calm demeanor is so refreshing. Thank you for the great content you share. I have never sent in a quilt to be long armed. I worry they are not long arm worthy. If I do ever gather courage enough to send one I have chosen you to do it. I have printed off your instruction sheet... baby steps, lol.... I have the same paper and have not used it. I accidentally ordered it twice, I may just use it as I follow you along...I use comic boards for my fat quarters, I will have to try it with yardage. I didn't think it would hold yardage! I am SO visual, I have to be able to see what I have in my way too big stash or I will forget I have it, lol Your civil war spools will be fantastic!

If you have essential oils you can put 2 drops or so (to your liking) in your best press skake it well. Mine is water soluible. You got some beautiful fabrics on your shopping trip. I love your blocks for the spools project. Great Job.

I used to live in Champayne-Urbana, was in real estate, 1970's, we had big big snow storms, flat land so drifts roof high! But all the stores have changed, then I mostly sewed clothes for myself & family, not much time for quilts, except utility.

It's so much fun to start new projects but that always creates UFO's unfortunately. Right now I'm not working on UFO's because I'm trying to stay caught up with all the QALs that started in January (sigh). My monthly ones are: A Quilting Life Mystery with Sherri McConnell, A Season in Blue with Edyta Sitar, and Lori Holt's Sew Scrappy Spools. Weekly are Lori Holt's Scrappiness is Happiness and Pat Sloan's Sweet Childhood Memories Mystery. I haven't been able to fit Fat Quarter Shop's Sewciaities in yet but I'm saving the pdfs just in case. So much to sew and so little time!
Tammie I admire you for doing Lisa Bongean's Oh Say Can You Sew! I thought about it but she lost me at 1,152 1-1/2" unfinished HSTs! I have all the pdfs so maybe one day... I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your company. Good luck with items on your UFO list. Thanks for the chat and for sharing.

You are sure a busy lady! In Fort Wayne, we had anywhere from 4 to 6 inches of snow. I’m on the north side and have about 4. It’s a beautiful snow, and not going to melt soon, as we have a cold week coming up! Our weather folks were predicting 4 to 7, so they had it right this time. I’m also a fan of Stacy West, and your truck projects are great. I also have some of the Cultivating Kindness fabric. I need to figure out what to do with it. Love your videos. Lynn

I like Zen Chic fabric. I’ve been collecting fabric with prints waiting for a perfect pattern. I think the book quilt pattern you shared awhile back might be good. I purchased the pattern after you shared.
I use Best Press, peaches and Cream is my fav and I buy the gallon jugs to refill my spray bottle.

Maybe this will help you feel better....in Dec 1987, my now husband of 28 years (it took him another 8 years to cone around) broke up with me during college finals week. 😪 A month later, I decided to teach myself to quilt. So I bought a book and fabric and started on my journey. I git several blocks made unto I realized that at age 19, I needed a social life. It all went into my cedar chest and hasn't been touched since. I supposed I better pull it out and get ready for the March challenge. I started quilting in 2017 and haven't looked back. I'm currently mid project on a quilt for said Hubby. In his defense, he said he wasn't good enough for me. So he went and waited until he was. He's a great guy! Hard working, loving, spiritual, patient, and we have 5 great kids.

    • @tammieearnest
      @tammieearnest  Год назад

😂. Well, if you put it all in perspective, it’s better that the quilt has been in the cedar chest all these years and you worked on the relationship. Instead of the other way around! Great story! 💕

That house quilt is an old quilt that my husband bought at an auction. The house blocks measure roughly 10” square with solid squares in between each house. I don’t know of a specific pattern for that quilt but the Alpine Quilt pattern that Camille Roskelley put out has that same block. Her block measures 12” square. So you could buy that pattern and make that house block and alternate it with the same size solid squares. Does that make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions.
Here is a link to the Alpine Quilt pattern. This is an affiliate link, but please don’t feel obligated to buy it. I just wanted to give you a way to find it so you could see what I was talking about.
      Hope this helps.

Love the lavender Best Press! Have you sampled the Caribbean? It’s wonderful as well. Best press not only helps with flatter pieced blocks, it is THE trick for pressing out wrinkles and the manufacture folds in fabrics!♥️🧵
