I really enjoyed seeing part of your lovely home and your sewing studio! So much fun and inspiration!! God bless you for raising a large family!! I'm the 3rd of 7 children. I'm 71 now and all of my siblings are still alive.
Thank you for sharing your studio with us. Love the use of antiques for storing things. You gave me some ideas for using items I have around my home. Happy Quilting!!!!
A little late in seeing this, have just recently discovered your clips on Facebook. The small ironing board is a sleeve board, reverses for the size of the sleeve. Am coming back to IN in the near future, so hope to meet up with you some time. Keep the clips coming, they are inspiring me, as I have an original 16" Handi Quilter, self-propelled, used only for my own projects. Thank you.
Catching up on your channel. Your sewing room is comforting to me knowing I have books and patterns, lots of WIP, organized items and handmade, and salvaged things like your ironing board etc. Our sewing room doesn’t look like the teachers with their studio set up.
My quaint space was so fun! With the purchase of a second longarm, I have had to move the machines into a larger space and changed up my personal sewing space. Maybe I can do another video once it is complete.
Love your quilt room. Love all the antiques. I absolutely love your backyard. Love the farmhouse look. I live in Las Vegas but I would love to live in the country. I think if I lived in the country then my home would be decorated like an old country style home.
Tammie I love your sweet quilting space! You’ve given me a few great ideas on how to store and decorate- thank you for that full tour, you know I watched it all! 😍 And your son is adorable, just checked out his channel 😊
🧵 Tammie ! I love seeing people’s sewing space. I organise almost exactly like YOU do. Certainly fabric collections from fabric designers are definitely kept separate from the rest , like your Lori Holt fabrics. Any I also have an area for future projects, fabrics that are designated for specific projects are bundled together with their patterns.
I love your space Tammie! It does feel like an adorable shop with all the gorgeous displays....Oh my! I had no idea you had 7 children!! God Bless you girl!
Wowza! Great video; certainly inspires me to keep sorting & using the "wasted" spaces for better storage items! Superb job making use of your space, Tammy!!! Great camera work, Daniel!
Thank you for showing your sewing space, Tammy. I do appreciate your attic ceilings as I sew in our attic in our daughter’s former bedroom. I love the joy you derive from arranging your storage by giving new purpose to objects with old stories!
Thank you so much for taking the time to show us your beautiful sewing space! I recently found your channel and I love it. Currently my sewing room doubles as a homeschool room which makes for a tight space but I really enjoy working on projects while my kids are doing their work. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I love seeing the completed quilts- so inspirational!
That’s a great combination Erica! Enjoy those kiddos! I’ve graduated 5 from homeschool, another one in May, and then just one more left! ☹️. Time goes so fast!
Your sewing room is very inspirational in the organization and the vintage things and how to repurpose them. Your videographer did a wonderful job showing the spaces you were sharing with us. Thank you both for the thorough tour and inviting us to see how efficient you have made your space. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the tour. So many of us have only a small space to carve out a sewing area. You showed how use all of the nooks and crannies in an organized manner. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.
I have one of those taylor ironing boards too. It was made by my grandfather. My mother used it a lot. And then gave it to me. I have been meaning to recover it for forty years to use it. This video reminded me that this new year's weekend I have time to do that. I love the way that you're displaying it. I'm going to figure out where to put it in my sewing room as well. Love your room. I really like your concept that you decorate your sewing room as a quilt shop. You seem to know where everything is and how to get to it to use it, but yet it's decorative.
Thank you for the tour! I am SO disorganized that I spend more time looking for things than anything else! lol... I have two large rooms that I can utilize, so it's time for me to get to work. Thanks for all the ideas!
Thanks for the great tour of your studio. Your love and enthusiasm for your treasures is inspiring and I want to go play/ organize right now! I have two sewing machine drawers I want to have on the wall for display. I’m copying you and ordering brackets soon. Thank you !!! I love all my treasures also and want my studio to have a quilt shop feel also. Old irons, machines, mini quilts and cross stitch.
Thank you for sharing your sewing room and all of your lovely decor items. I love decorating my sewing room with vintage finds and of course plenty of fabrics and lots of ideas lol. You have made such beautiful quilts and love your quilting on those you have shown previously.
Thank you Tammie for you tour of your sewing space. When I was a teenager my electric sewing machine was sitting on top of my grandmother’s treadle like you have. Sad to say the treadle was sold as my parents needed funds. I have replaced that but stored at the moment. It’s an idea to have it in our home. I don’t have a long arm quilting machine but can work with your storage system. Blessings.
Thanks for the taking the time for the tour. Reminded me of my childhood. I grew up in rural northern Illinois and have lived most my adult life in BC, Canada (a very different vibe). But the practicality of your room and the repurposing of other items brought back those memories, including your backyard. I could picture you sewing and your 7 children playing out back.
Thank you for inviting us in. I love your work, and really enjoyed seeing where it all takes place. I recently found your videos and am amazed that you find time to cross stitch. Your space is lovely and you’ve given me lots of ideas that I can use in my space. Thanks again!
Love your space. I’m a country girl too. Love the enamel and trinkets and old machines. I tried the vintage iron but mine got so hot that it was dangerous but they make great decor ❤
Tammie you have done a wonderful job of organizing all your stuff into that small space. I too have a small space and am always thinking of new ways to organize it. You may have given me some more ideas to work with. Take care.
Love all the vintage items. I will take your idea of a round cutting mat and put on a wood tv tray I use by my sewing machine Also like the log cabin wallpaper(?) on the end walls
I have my great grandmother’s quilt frame and kept it behind my longarm for years until recently. I love all your antique storage. We certainly have the same taste. You can see my longarm studio on my channel. I think it was about a year ago when I shared it. Your rotating mat idea is brilliant. Did I miss where you keep your longarm thread?
I did forget to show the drawer under the longarm! 😬. Just above the client bags, there is a drawer attached to the underside of the longarm. It is filled with all of my longarm thread.
@@tammieearnest I suspected that. I have one but it’s filled with miscellaneous longarm parts. I have a bookshelf for my thread, but it’s not an ideal solution so I’m always on the lookout for something better.
Hi Tammy! I just watched your studio tour and I love all your precious pieces that have meaning for you. I do a lot of things that way too; I guess we all do. I wanted to comment on a very pretty fabric flower- it just perched on top of your filing cabinet. It was beige brown with a button center. I LOVED IT! How to make it? Please, if you have time to reply. Thank you so much, I loved your tour, you are so relaxed.
Oh my goodness Marilyn, I can’t believe you noticed that! I believe that was a Lynette Jensen PDF tutorial many, many years ago. Do you remember her? Her company was Thimbleberries. One of my early mentors! I’ll see if I can find the pattern and share it. I don’t throw too much away so I’m assuming it’s in my filing cabinet. 😁
I loved your tour of your studio. Thank you so much for sharing. All the vintage touches add so much personality to your room. Can you tell me the size of the barn door and the tracks that covers your bookcases? I would love to add one to the open door of my room.
Hi Sharon! The track itself is about 80 inches long and about 1 3/4 inches tall. We purchased the track at Menards or Lowe's. The barn door is approximately 40x 70. We pulled two of these out of an old barn although I am only using one of them on the bookcase.
Thank you for the tour. You are so organized in small space, but I am sure it is your "happy place". I have the Babylock Coronet long arm with a 5 foot frame due to space, but I only do my own quilts due to doing free motion quilting, of which they are ok for me but I don't think for the public. How do you find room to sew quilt bindings on in your small space or do you do it with your long-arm machine? I am so glad I found your videos, as I have enjoyed everyone.
Thank you Bonita! I still like to sew my bindings on with my domestic machine. I keep the small cart pushed up next to my sewing table and rest as much of the quilt on that and on my cutting table as I can while I attach the binding to the front of the quilt. I then hand sew it in the back in the evening when I’m with my family. It is quite bulky but it works for me.
Tks for the fabulous tour of yr sewing room. I also love using antique pieces for storing & display. My sil just decorated oatmeal containers & I use for my scraps. Noticed the red & white rectangle block that you were searching for pattern name; did you ever run across it?
Hi, Tammie Thank you for showing your sewing room! I Look forward to your Videos every week. Love the vintage items you use in your sewing room. Plan to incorporate some vintage items in my sewing room also. How do you juggle your sewing time and housework?
You are so welcome! Great question Robin! I try to follow the Clean Mama cleaning routine. Check it out at cleanmama.com I work on the Daily 5 cleaning routine each morning before starting school with my youngest. After lunch, I clean the kitchen with the help of my son and try to fit in a daily chore then. Sometimes I get it done and sometimes I don’t 😊. My kids are responsible for their own laundry and their rooms. My youngest son cleans his “zone” each day also (the living room). Then I sew all afternoon! BUT the 4 kiddos still at home are mostly grown at this point and the house doesn’t get nearly as cluttered now as it did when they were all little!
Thank you Tammie for the link I will check that out! Sometimes I get overwhelmed with all that needs to be done LOL. I try to keep some type of routine daily and sew a few hours most days. Thank you for your time and Happy sewing.😊
Tammie,Thank-you so much for showing us your sewing space, loved it. But where do you keep all your threads for the longarm? Great ideas you've given me though for my sewing studio. Love your videos.
You are so welcome! Yes, I forgot to show my drawer of threads. 🫣. There is a drawer just above the customer bags of quilts that holds them all. It is attached to the underside of the longarm.
Loved your tour! Thank you so much. Wondering if you are able to multi task and get your own projects done while a quilt is on the longarm? I love all the history you surround yourself with.
@@tammieearnest thanks Tammie. What a lovely studio to work in. No surprise the quilts for your customers are so breathtaking. When we are happy where we work and create, it shows every time ❤️
Thank you for sharing your wonderful quilt room! I have a question. How do you reach the back of your long arm machine if needed. Specifically how to turn on, etc. looks like tight space on ends. thank you!
Hi Brenda! Thanks for watching. I AM in a tight space! My table is 12 foot long and my room is 14 foot long! I am able to reach over the bars to turn the machine off/on and I have learned to load the quilt from the front. But when I need to clean the back wheels or the track or if I want to load a quilt from the back, I have to crawl under the longarm to the other side. Not the best scenario, but I make it work.
Yes, I forgot to show my drawer of threads. 🫣. There is a drawer just above the customer bags of quilts that holds them all. It is attached to the underside of the longarm.
Tammie, I just bought your exact machine. We are going to have to convert some attic space too. I am trying to figure out exactly what I need. I was thinking a 16’x16’ minimum space…our attic is huge…or would you suggest a larger space? And what are your thoughts on electrical outlets? Counter height or closer to the floor? Any insight you can give will be greatly appreciated. We can’t start until this winter…Texas beat right now is brutal. So, I have time to really plan this out. Thanks so very much for your videos and any help you may offer
Congratulations! You can make it work with 16x16. Will your domestic machine, cutting area, ironing station be in the same place? Then you might need more room. I would have a dedicated electrical outlet right behind the machine. I have mine plugged into a serge protector as well. The cord needs to be free to move with the machine along the back, so my surge protector sits behind my machine in a central spot. I am not able to cut batting in my space because it is too small. So that may be something to consider. The machine needs to be as tall as your elbows are when bent so that your hands are not higher or lower than your elbows. This is especially important if you are doing any handguided work. Hope this helps.
@@tammieearnest thank you so much! After looking at the attic space, and how steep the stairs would need to be, I think we are going to enclose half of the garage. I am afraid it will be a little tight but, for now it is in a guest bedroom and only set up at 8 feet. All the rest of my sewing will stay in my sewing room. I was really hoping to have it all in one space but, I will make it work! Thank you again. I don’t want to have regrets after he does all this for me. Love your videos!
Hi, I’m looking at purchasing a longarm Amara, can you tell me the length of your quilting studio from door to window. I am deciding between a 12’ or 10’ table. I have 13’7” on the wall I’m putting my table. Thank you for your help. Cathy
From door to window is 14'. I have a 12' table but with the hand cranks on the side, I literally have 7-8 inches clearance on each side. If I need to get to the back side of the machine, I have to crawl under the table. Not ideal, but I'm glad the 12' table fits. I previously had an HQ16 on a 10' table in the same space. It worked well, but when I upgraded I really wanted to be able to do the biggest quilts so that is why I went to the 12' length. Hope this helps.
Absolutely LOVED this!! GREAT video work🎉. Showed all the nooks and crannies while you were talking. Just awesome!! Fun

Loved your tour! Thank you so much. Wondering if you are able to multi task and get your own projects done while a quilt is on the longarm? I love all the history you surround yourself with.
Yes I do! I like to stay close by to be sure it’s running correctly. But yes, I’m usually sewing while the longarm is running.
@@tammieearnest thanks Tammie. What a lovely studio to work in. No surprise the quilts for your customers are so breathtaking. When we are happy where we work and create, it shows every time ❤️
Enjoyed the sewing room tour! Where did you find the rack you store your quilting rulers on?
Unfortunately I do not know. It’s something we’ve had around the house for several years.
Love your studio! What are the measurements of your room? I’m curious because I would love a long arm.
Thanks Lisa! The room is 14x11. You’ll need a larger room if you want to get to the backside of the longarm without climbing under it! 🫣
Where do you store your threads-only saw bobbin storage jars? Do you store anything under your longarm (e.g., coned threads, etc.)?
Yes, I forgot to show my drawer of threads. 🫣. There is a drawer just above the customer bags of quilts that holds them all. It is attached to the underside of the longarm.
@@tammieearnest Thanks for sharing your quilt studio ideas-some I haven’t even thought about. Your video was very helpful!
That was a sleeve ironing board.@ 34:42
I ove you old tin for you projects!!!!!?
Thank you!
