Welcome back to quilting! Enjoyed your trunk show!! Get some Synthrapol for bleeding colors. It's wonderful for washing quilts with bright colors. I came to quilting when I retired in 2013 from a long teaching career. I've sewn all my life but with work and raising kids, the only hobby I had was gardening. Now, I quilt, paint, garden, and share my artistic ideas with 5 grandchildren. On my mother's side, I have my great-grandmother's 1910 Singer Treadle, but I did not meet her nor do I have examples of anything she sewed. On my father's side, his Swedish grandparents were tailors to 2 U.S. Presidents, Coolidge, and Taft, and made their inaugural suits. I made clothing in junior and senior high school, but now, I am a quilter. Sending quilting vibes from Maryland!

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. And I appreciate the suggestion of using Synthrapol. I hadn't heard of that before. I will give it a try.

Love all your quilts! Great job. I have been quilting for about 10 years , retired about 8 years ago. I sew to relax, I love to create. There are not enough hours in the day to do all the projects. I also do rug hooking, weaving and painting, not to mention cooking and gardening.

Why, when people see we are good at a hobby, do they want us to turn it into a business? I have had people say that to me, "You should sell that/those." I don't want to!!!! This is for fun, relaxation, creative relief. Leave us alone. We just want to play. Keep on playing with fabric.

You are so right! And I have to be extra careful about turning ideas into businesses - that's how I ended up getting burned out and needing a relaxing hobby - too many ideas turned into businesses. It is one of the perils of being an entrepreneur.

You are so right about quilting being an expensive hobby, but I sure do love it too.

You were quite productive in your first year back into quilting! Congrats on finishing all those! Yeah! I also like the stars quilt you showed. Also the way you ended up doing fractured. I'm amazed at your productivity - esp. as a self-employed person. Keep on keeping on. Love quilting! Your work is fun. I know most of the names you mentioned - not all, though.

I really enjoyed your trunk show! It’s so funny because my quilting journey is so similar. I quilted many years ago and got back into it during the lockdowns. My first project upon returning was also the disappearing 9 patch! I also fell down the YT quilting rabbit hole and found so much inspiration. My favorite designer/quilter is Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts (she is also here on YT). I have grown immensely thanks to YT. I also quilt as a hobby, I am a teacher.

Thank you for sharing your story. Seeing the disappearing 9 patch was such a magical moment of inspiration for me. I've heard of Laundry Basket Quilts, but I haven't checked out her channel. I definitely will.

One thing - I did have a red and white checkerboard quilt I did - last fall. I washed it before I donated it for the charity I was making it for. One of the red fabrics ran in spite of the color catchers-- the white fabric grabbed the dye. There is a saying, "It's not so much if the red runs - it is more important to know if the white is a color grabber". I did NOT dry it. I let it air dry and then washed it again but put blue Dawn dish soap with my finger on each spot and let it sit a bit. I mean, I was generous! :) Believe it or not, all the red stains came out. BUT, I had not dried it. I think I ended up washing it three times before getting it to my satisfaction. Also, it would have helped if the ratio of water to quilt is as much as possible so the quilt can kind of swim and not be rubbing up against itself in the machine. Sadly my machine here in Poland isn't nearly as big as the ones in the US tend to be. Find the biggest you can when do choose to wash it and do use plenty of color catchers and use cold water.

Love all your quilts. Get you some Color catchers from Shout. Use a about 6 to 10 sheets with your red quilt. It works!

Wow...what an impressive body of work...I also bought that book Home for the Holidays and used one of the patterns for the flannel block quilt usiing
Primative Gatherings fabric Lakeside Gatherings. It turned out beautiful. You probably cant use all of those quilts so hope you will be giving them to
people who can use them. The Xmas one is great with the designs that you made like the nutcracker. Thanks for sharing them and just watched your
    Quiltcon video also.

Thank you so much for watching my videos! I've been wanting to make the flannel quilt from the book too. I've gathered a few selections, but don't have enough variety yet. I'll take a look at Lisa Bongean's fabrics. I hadn't thought of that. And you are right about not being able to use all of the quilts. I gave several of them away at Christmas. In the future, I'll be making some that can be raffled to raise money for good causes. I just love making them all.

I love all your quilts, thank you for showing them. I spend half my day watching quilting tutorials, feel like they are all my friends. Did you make the wall hanging behind you and the shrug--jacket you are wearing and what about the pillows?

I totally agree with you about watching quilting tutorials and feeling like the creators are my friends. I did not make any of the items in the background. I will be making some items such as pillows in the coming year.

That one quilt with some red that you are afraid to wash - - - how about you mention it in a video, name the fabric. Maybe some one else used it and washed it.
