Lana Del Rey, to me, is one of the last gems in the current music industry. No one treats their music like art anymore. Her lyrics touch your soul. They tap into your deepest and darkest fantasies. I'm probably one of the only men who has a deep passion for her music. It's just so... mesmerizing. Just loud words.. What does "changed my view on life" means? You stopped drinking? You became more careful? The only argument I found in your words is - she is sexy, so what can she teach you only with her sexuality?
ThePlectr I found Pretty Little Liars ' opinion well-stated. Firstly, I'd say that you under-estimated the power of the argument ''she is sexy''. Being confident and aware of your body and sexuality (especially in the genuine way that Lana is) is extremely important in living a healthy life and boosts your self-esteem. But other than that, as stated, Lana treats music like art and her lyrics and music are deep. She helps you connect with your fantasies, love yourself and overcome taboos. She changed my view of life as well as many other people's because she inspired me and helped me accept myself and express freely. She is a beautiful and unique person (on the inside and outside) and the message her music transfers about life is profound and philosophical. I believe that it is clear to see, but, of course, my opinion is as objective as any other.
honestly the greatest artist of the century , so so so underrated and needs a grammy. all of her work is heavenly. the poets, songs, film, book, she really is the greatest.
When Lana falls it's not just her fainting, but also touching on that part of the Bible which is known as 'The Fall'. Where God (or in this case John's) trust is broken with humans. This short movie is a masterpiece. I love how it also perfectly shows what lots of people believe the fruit from the tree symbolises which is sex. and how in Gods and Monsters it shows a corrupt world that has been driven on this sinful, unholy temptation. The impulses. The animal instincts. At the end it’s “Bel Air”. They remove their black garments in exchange for white, which symbolises purity, and there are cuts into what is a baptism, cleansing the sin and washing it away to start anew, re-appreciating the beauty of the earth that they took for granted before and then ascending to heaven. - after watching it several times it's actually genius and is totally the classic Lana aesthetic.
I don’t think that’s quite right. The proverbial Adam & Eve were sharing in sex before the Fall. Indeed, Elvis, Marilyn, and John Wayne all seemed to be cheering it on. That sex was pure and beautiful. It was explicitly only after biting the apple (getting “too close” to God, as Lana’s voiceover puts it) that takes them out of the Garden of Eden and into the Garden of Evil. It’s the biting of “knowledge”-knowledge of cynicism, corruption, degradation, greed, cruelty, rapaciousness, etc-that sends this Adam & Eve to bleak human reality. The Apple. Knowledge. Not sex.
Me too. First time I really listened to one of her songs is young and beautiful. My soulmate was sleeping and I popped headphones in and played young and beautiful and I couldn't stop looking at my boyfriend while he slept and with the song playing it just hit my soul in a way I hadn't felt in A very long time. I lost my boyfriend to an unexpected over dose 3 years after that and I haven't been able to listen to that song without getting sick 😭
this short film is, by far, the most cinematically beautiful thing i have ever seen. worked at a movie theater for four years, watched hours and hours of music videos and film, nothing compares. only lana could present us with such a gorgeous masterpiece.
Side effects may vary. Depression, hallucinations, daddy issues, obsessively watching sunrises, not finishing your homework, dancing in the rain, alcoholism, and melancholia may ensue. If you're easily moved, on medication, or severely depressed, Lana Del Rey may not be the artist for you. Ask your doctor first if Lana Del Rey fits your needs.
i think the message of the whole movie is... to find peace within your sins like how Born to Die is about finding peace within your sadness and Ride was about finding true freedom within this 'free-not so free' life...
***** yeah, the way i perceive her stuffs is that she sees the beauty in every ugly things, every negativity, it's like she has come to an acceptance of the ugly truth, so then she appreciates things as they are, she's not trying to fix our ugly bits of the society/world, she accept and live it all instead, and that's probably why she claimed to not have any interest in feminism, but intergalactic stuff and perhaps other things that human do not actually have much knowledge of. she studied metaphysics afteral.
this is written by Allen Ginsberg...not by Lana. But she has given it a very good interpratation anyway! and i like her songs... but she is not a poet in that sense!!!
Me and my 2 best friends went to the premiere of this. Got there at 1230pm and our tickets (free) were for 9pm. We lived in Orange County so there was no way we were going home and coming back. We sat and waited in line for hours. Lana came around 6pm on a red carpet, I got so close to her I could touch her. My best friend gave her a note and Lana gave her a kiss on the cheek. When we finally got into the theater, Lana came out and made a cute little speech. She did this for every viewing. After the last show, she went outside and signed autographs. She truly is amazing and I love her so much!
Plot: Chapter 1 - Body Electric. The movie starts out with the original Adam (portrayed by Shaun Ross) and Eve (portrayed by Lana Del Rey) in the Garden of Eden. God (portrayed by a John Wayne character), Jesus, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley are all present with Adam and Eve- as "Body Electric" begins to play. The whole movie is intercut with scenes of Del Rey playing Jesus' mother Mary. At the end of the song, Eve - tempted by the snake - decides to eat an apple from Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. After she eats it, thunder strikes and she faints. Adam then decides to eat from the apple as well in order to join his lover. As a result of this, they are cast out of their "Paradise", the Garden of Eden. Chapter 2 - Gods & Monsters. Del Rey then starts to recite Walt Whitman's "I Sing the Body Electric" as time flash forwards to a modern-day Adam and Eve living in Los Angeles; Del Rey works as a stripper while Ross is a gang member who also works as a clerk at a convenience store during the day. There is a reference to their "Paradise" in the convenience store, as there is a sign that says "El Paraiso" or "The Paradise". In this segment - "Gods & Monsters" begins to play. After the song ends, Del Rey recites Allen Ginsberg's "Howl" as a group of wealthy middle aged men are seen surprising their friend on his birthday by bringing him strippers. A couple of minutes after the strippers enter the room, Ross and his gang suddenly show up with guns in hand and steal all their money. Chapter 3 - Bel Air. God appears and begins to narrate John Mitchum's poem "Why I Love America" ("You ask me why I love her? Well, give me time. I'll explain. Have you seen a Kansas sunset, or an Arizona rain?"). The Adam and Eve characters then get in their car and end up driving to a country-side wheat field. Clips show the pair being baptised as they begin to undress. "Bel Air" then plays in the sunset. The two characters then ascend back into heaven, having finally redeemed themselves, as flying saucers appear in the sky.
This is what Lana was addressing in her IG post. People don't even know about this and are fast to cancel her. Truly sad. One of my favourite piece of art I have ever seen.
This woman knows every dream and hope I have ever had... She knows my deepest, darkest secrets and we've never even met.... I have never been so captured by a person like I am with Lana Del Rey... Her music isn't just amazing and it goes beyond therapy.... She speaks to something stuck so deep inside of me and I come alive... I feel so connected, wild and free, like I know myself.... every song... The way a human being was meant to feel.... I don't stop listening...
i feel you. i dont even know how to describe what her music, lyrics she herself means to me and you said the words that I've been looking for. that's exactly how i feel.... (i'm high and drunk so take these words seriously)
hey, why we gotta compare and say "bla bla is trash, bla bla sucks". All artists are different, and I appreciate them all for their art! You should too!! :-) I doubt Lana would condone that thought :)
This woman's existence alone is work of art. Her songwriting, her voice, her mind, her thoughts- everything is beyond any words. Love you till the end of time
"And so, from being created in his likeness, to being banished for wanting to be too much like him, we were cast out, and the Garden of Eden transformed into the Garden of Evil.." Fuck is she under rated.

How is it Lana was the very first one to come up and create a Idea for a short film for her album and now everyone is doing it but no one ever realizes that Lana was the first
this will played in cinemas all around the world after her death as her tribute...the day when she will become a legend... and from how i've known Lana so far, she would likely prepared an after death record..like "release this record the same day as my funeral..."
I was 14 when this came out. People didn't get it like they do now. And I didn't realise at the time that I was witnessing music/art history being made. Her art is like fine wine.
How can a masterpiece like this have so few views in comparison to the masses of contrived rubbish that is churned out? This is pure poetry and art, beautiful, eye opening, real, authentic and honest, so I will never stop watching 💜

Lana, I've watched this short film plenty of times and it still gets me. I wish it is a normal film, even if it would be 3 hours long I would still watch it till the end and atleast 10 times. It is such a great story and film, and I really hope you make another (short) film in the future. Thanks for making such a beauty for us and for being such an inspiring person! Your music touches me, your film hits me and you as a person inspires me. Thank you for that!
This was filled with such grace and beauty it brought me to tears at its finish. Clearly only someone who knows the darkest struggles of the soul could create something that so efficiently and creatively embodies the equally euphoric and yet excruciating moments of true reflection on ones hedonistic rebellion. Such a beautiful work of art to share with the ones who feel its grasp the most. Thank you for this.
This is so underrated but the ones that understand and appreciate the artistry of Lana know for sure this is a masterpiece. My soulmate was sleeping and I popped headphones in and played young and beautiful and I couldn't stop looking at my boyfriend while he slept and with the song playing it just hit my soul in a way I hadn't felt in A very long time. I lost my boyfriend to an unexpected over dose 3 years after that and I haven't been able to listen to that song without getting sick 😭

same. like the process of discovering her and being mesmerized and shocked someone could create such beautiful and fascinating music
this short film is, by far, the most cinematically beautiful thing i have ever seen. worked at a movie theater for four years, watched hours and hours of music videos and film, nothing compares. only lana could present us with such a gorgeous masterpiece.
Simple
Agreed this is pure art
She's the drug with no side effects
Hayden Bale a drug with a side effect of leading people astray
The side effect is that I dont finish homework
I always considered daddy issues as a viable side effects.
Hayden Bale besides heavy withdraw
Side effects may vary. Depression, hallucinations, daddy issues, obsessively watching sunrises, not finishing your homework, dancing in the rain, alcoholism, and melancholia may ensue. If you're easily moved, on medication, or severely depressed, Lana Del Rey may not be the artist for you. Ask your doctor first if Lana Del Rey fits your needs.
she is art. her thoughts are art. her music is art. her life is art.
She is art🖤
Lmao she’s ACTING like a Latina. So you should say Mexican culture is art
Exactly
And life imitates art
i think the message of the whole movie is...
to find peace within your sins
like how Born to Die is about finding peace within your sadness
and Ride was about finding true freedom within this 'free-not so free' life...
Alechandro but thats just my opinion
Alechandro No se ingles :(
Alechandro that's a beautiful way to see it.
*****
yeah, the way i perceive her stuffs is that she sees the beauty in every ugly things, every negativity, it's like she has come to an acceptance of the ugly truth, so then she appreciates things as they are, she's not trying to fix our ugly bits of the society/world, she accept and live it all instead, and that's probably why she claimed to not have any interest in feminism, but intergalactic stuff and perhaps other things that human do not actually have much knowledge of. she studied metaphysics afteral.
Lana is wonderful. The movie is fantastic. To find your soul in this mad world too hard.
the way lana is singer, poet, actress, director, producer and godess is crazy
This is honestly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
Its stunning. She is a poet, as well as a musician.
It's a masterpiece
this is written by Allen Ginsberg...not by Lana. But she has given it a very good interpratation anyway! and i like her songs... but she is not a poet in that sense!!!
Gila A same
it's also Walt Whitman's "I Sing the Body Electric"
Me and my 2 best friends went to the premiere of this. Got there at 1230pm and our tickets (free) were for 9pm. We lived in Orange County so there was no way we were going home and coming back. We sat and waited in line for hours. Lana came around 6pm on a red carpet, I got so close to her I could touch her. My best friend gave her a note and Lana gave her a kiss on the cheek. When we finally got into the theater, Lana came out and made a cute little speech. She did this for every viewing. After the last show, she went outside and signed autographs. She truly is amazing and I love her so much!
still the most beautiful thing ever done

amen to that! 👏👏👏
Pacoooo! :')

I'm still wishing she made the short film with all the Paradise songs. This is ART!
Plot:
Chapter 1 - Body Electric.

Truly sad. One of my favourite piece of art I have ever seen.
why’d she have to bring another women into it tho?
She isn't the only women in this industry that got negative comments on doing what they love lol

James '96 rain
James '96 she's underrated cuz she didn't write it. She stole it. If it was the real person who wrote it and the real god like goddess lana Del Rey and not some woman who wants to be her, then the real her would b very famous right now. Open ur third eye.
That's not The person behind the music or the lyrics and there's most likely gonna b a big lawsuit over it

Fiona Goode The first are the poems ‘I Sing the Body Electric’ by Walt Whitman and ‘Howl’ by Allen Ginsberg, and then, of course, there’s the John Wayne monologue (co-written by John Mitchum).

And its sad that G.U.Y got more views than Tropico. Lana and Lady Gaga have been feuding forever more. Im pretty sure lady gaga copied lana idk ?
Bishop Bryant It's not a matter of who copied who. I think everyone should acknowledge that Gaga and Lana have two extremely different visions of music and art. The fact that, for some reason, many Gaga fans love Lana has raised this "feud" that is just in their minds. Fans should stop this annoying battle of the divas and enjoy the fucking music because Gaga and Lana have seriously nothing in common. Like, at all :)
Gabriele Longo I'm not blaming Lady Gaga of copying Lana, and actually gaga has been mature throughout the who feud which is a good thing. But I still think its a fight the media should stay out of. But you have a good point.
