    What do you think about the x100vi? Is it really that big of an upgrade, price considered?

    • @cameraprepper7938
      @cameraprepper7938 8 месяцев назад +2

      Both the X100VI and the previous version of X100 are much too overhyped AND too expensive, it is not compact. A digital mirrorless system Camera is a much better choice. A new future compact full frame digital fixed Lens Camera should be like fx the Minox 35 ML or Contax T in size and style to be real compact cameras. It is though nice with a 40 megapixels APSC camera IF the Lens quality is good enough which it ain´t in the Fuji ! I do not know why Sony haven´t used their 40 megapixels sensor in a Sony "A7000" Camera, maybe because there are no good enough APSC Lenses yet !

      @@cameraprepper7938 Agree on the overhyped´ness. I had an X100F that I got second hand a few years back at a very nice price. Was looking forward to the X100VI, but glad I came to my senses there. Besides, the xt5 with 2 new lenses was just a much better upgrade.

      @@DanielBryn I hope the hype will die out, so there isn´t thousands of people buying them, I am glad so see a video "downhype" the Fuji X100 series. Mirrorless system Cameras are the way to go, more people buying mirrorless system Cameras and Lenses gives more competition and better Cameras and Lenses.

      @@cameraprepper7938 Yep - made sense to make a video on the opposing side of the hype. Those praise videos about the camera are in no short supply. Even the ones with a seemingly critical title seem to oversell it. No fan of that.

      Overhyped sure but don't get the comparison. My R5 or 5d is also more flexible as a camera with an attached lens...would make more sense for me to compare the camera with an Ricoh or Sony or even Leica in this format. We have the x100 only for biking or small trips and not as an alternative for our main system.

    I still don’t see the benefit of this type of review (all included). I bought the x100VI because I want a camera with a fix lens and I really don’t care about the hype (as I owned 3 X100 series camera already). X100 series camera are the ones I would take with me for a trip on an lost island. On the other hand, I also have the X-H2 with some good lenses 😊

      Its not a review, its rather food for thought. Easy to get sucked into the hype of wanting the latest and "greatest". I didnt get the X100VI because I got to my senses and got better upgrades for my existing gear. Owned the X100F some years ago, great camera! Dont think a brand new X100VI is worth it

  • @innercityunit2112
    @innercityunit2112 4 месяца назад +2

    It's all subjective ofc, but if you're paying a very similar price for the X-T5 and the X-100VI, then the X-T5 is much the best choice for a a professional and well-rounded photography stance, for all the points you mention. You have a massive advantage with interchangeable lenses, which means you can build up a solid range of focal lengths, with both primes and zooms, that will cover all bases and shooting scenarios. That also gives you the option somewhere down the line, to sell these lenses if you wish, to help buy new ones, perhaps a new focal length, or a faster prime for night-time/low light street-photography etc, or trade in when newer / better lenses are released, effectively future-proofing your photography set-up, to a certain extent...That's not to say the X-100VI is a bad camera, but I feel there's a ton of hype that's driven this, right from the X-T100V. I'm sure it's a great little travel/street camera, but if I could only afford one, I'd definitely go with the interchangeable lenses of the X-T5.
    I shoot with a Fuji X-T30ii, with either the 18-55, or the 23mm f/1.4. I absolutely love this set up, it's small/compact and light for a days street-shooting and does all I want it to do. Eventually I will add in the X-T5, mainly because of weather sealing and the 40 MP, especially useful for the greater crop potential.
    I've been watching one or two of your videos lately and enjoying them, they're pretty cool, so I subscribed and looking forward to more street-related content!

    I wonder if this will spur other camera manufacturers to revive their rangefinder style fixed lens cameras like the pany lx100/ii or the Sony rx1r/ii . The only thing that keeps my interest with the x100 series is the leaf shutter to sync with flash at all mechanical shutter speeds, but don't want to pay hyped prices and not for such a long wait. You dodged a bullet by not having one available - xt5 is superior in all other metrics

    • @DanielBryn

      Just goes to show how good camera brands are at marketing etc. so easy to get caught up in the hype. The lens upgrades are just far superior w the xt 5 as well. Especially the 90mm. And the pancake lens for size. Love it! Id just get a second hand x100v if i was in the market for any of the x100’s

      Slightly, even so, not getting it makes more and more sense when you already own an XT5 imo. And I dont use flash at all. But if you do, sure why not? Still happy I came to my senses and upgraded with new glass instead of the x100vi

      @@freekvanbuul5100 haha, yeah. But for EDC the xt 5 might be slightly overkill considering you have an R6. If for some strange reason I decide to get an x100, id go for the "V". I agree with you here, it fills different needs for different people.
      I have both an X-T and X-100VI
      Did I need the X-100, no, I could attach an ND filter on to my X-T, I could use a HSS flash (although not as elegant as a leaf shutter) I even have a 23mm F/1.4 lens...
      But I know which setup I enjoy using more, and the X-100VI works for me and I'm not a street photographer, from everything from portraits to close focusing. Yes I'm never going to go out and shoot wildlife with a 23mm lens but I have other choices.... Yes I'm very lucky that I have choices and am not limited to a single camera but I have work stuff and fun stuff, and the X100 is both.
