X-T5. As photographers, we all have different sentiments, nostalgia, and perhaps romantic ideations of our gear and craft, so there isn't really a wrong choice, as you can learn to be creative with whatever you choose be it choice of sensor, fixed or ILC, PASM or more manual controls, etc. However, once you have a set of lenses, its hard to think of a good reason to get a body that limits you to just a single focal length. Some will say, 'the limitation is the point!', but nah... If I want to practice minimalism, it's easy enough to do with any other X body, just throw on a lens and head out outdoors. I can configure my Fuji bodies for any occasion.
Will you guys please stop showing how the XT-5 is not really that much bigger and is just flat better. I mean better Battery, Grip, D-PAD!!! Screen Your going to blow its popularity up and make it unobtainable for us normal working guys . It is already becoming hit and miss on stock considering it really is not that much more than the 100-VI and the new XT-50. The 100-VI and XT-50 is so much better and worth the wait. Man I got to save faster to get me another XT-5 UGH LOL
Fixed lens camera is too limiting. I can always use any prime on X-T5 to master the chosen focal length, but how about the opposite operation on any X100 series camera? 😁
Great comparison! I bought an x100v in 2020 after years of not using my cannon dslr and my array of expensive glass. The x100v re-ignited my love of photography. I took it everywhere and I ended up selling all my cannon gear as it has not been used in years. Last year, I realized I needed a little more than one lens. I bought an Xt5 and sold my beloved x100v. I have my Xt5 paired with a voightlander 27mm 2.0 pancake lens for everyday use in a small package much like the x100v and I love it. I also have the Fuji 18mm 1.4 and 33mm 1.4 and the Viltrox 75mm 1.2. I could not be happier.
Get an x-pro3! It really depends on what you plan to do with the camera. I have an x100vI and also have two interchangeable lens Fujifilm cameras. So it is more a matter of which one are you going to buy first.
I recently purchased the XT-5 after having the x100VI since march. It is definitely noticeable that the x100vi has a sharper 23mm lens or that the xf 23mm F/2 cannot resolve the 40mp sensor
I’ve tested the x100v against the X-t3 with the first gen non WR 23mm f1.4 and I would say they were equals. Incidentally, I also tested the old 23mm f1.4 against the 23mm f2, and, the old 23mm f1.4 came out on top. That said, I would add, the new WR 23mm f1.4 is in a league of its own when it comes to any other 23mm in Fuji’s lineup, imho.
First, thnx a lot for the great comparison. I ordered the VI two month ago, still waiting. Enough time to think about the XT5 as the better choice. I’ve got an equipment of 8 wonderful XF-lenses for my XT3. And I own an X100F, which I love. But now (st shivering hands) I need ibis. I saw the X100VI-criticism of some youtubers about the missing d-pad, a unfavourable placed q-button and a ponderous AF on an compact camera which is not the cheapest. I‘ll see…
Good point about the Xf23 f2. It seems that autofocus is allways a hair off, especially noticeable wide open, in all the f2 lenses with the xt5, worst on the xf50 f2. I wonder why people are not complaining about this, and why Fujifilm is not adressing this issue since those lenses are so important in their line-up. It's not user error, did a lot of tests and comparisons with other lenses, with new firmwares, they are only useable stopped down. Manually focusing shows that the problem is not sharpness, they are all quite sharp, especially the xf50. They worked well in older bodys ( xt3, xt30 )
the problem is their autofocus algorithm, they need to stop releasing cameras and work on a huge update revamping completly the autofocus on xtrans 5 camera, i don't want to wait until next gen again
I have an X-T5 for nature, landscape, portrait, X-A5 for street and OM-D E-1 Markiii for Macro. Not saying this would work for everyone or anyone but me but it’s the best setup I’ve had in 40 years. Plus I want to keep my wife 😄. The X100 vi is very attractive but at this point limited and redundant at the same time. With unlimited resources I would definitely buy it and a couple of GFXs for good measure😆.
After I added a thumb grip and hand grip it actually weighed more than a XT5 with a 27mm f2.8 or 23mm f2. I used to have a X100V and to be honest I didn't find the X100VI any faster to autofocus so I sent it back and I am keeping my Leica Q3. But for the pricing you should add the thumb grip, hand grip, and filter ring so it makes the price even closer. Cheers.
Disclaimer: I nearly exclusively shoot street photography. Thanks for this excellent comparison. To me it depends on what you'll do with the camera and what you already have, but also, I would say that the XT5 is competing in price and size with full frame cameras such as Sony and Nikon and I see no point in it. A Sony will get you much better autofocus and sharpbess. Personally I have the Sony A7cr because with 61 MP is like having 2 cameras in one, a full frame and an aps-c. With this one I shoot both with manual lenses and automatic. The quality is astonishing. Want to have fun, the x100vi. Advantages of the X100vi for street photography are immediacy (you are shooting always with the same lens and you automatisme hip shots, framing, etc ) and the simulations. I just don't ha e to edit. Finally, when I shoot with the Sony and the 20-70, people get aware and annoyed with me. It has never happened with the X100vi. Therefore, you have to buy your gear for what you need, not for specs, and I think I have found an awesome combination.
What mirrorless FF camera is at the price range of the X-T5? Without considering second-hand, refurbished or discount prices, even the A7III is still more expensive. The Sony a6700 (APS-C) is almost $1400 USD new, and while it surely give top AF performance, is not weather sealed and has no dual card slots. Also the X-T5 tilt screen is the best one I have ever used for photography. Good to know that the X100VI works for your setup but for us the better choice is the X-T5.
11:30 this. I frikin love LOVE fujis design and color profiles but for work I need a more reliable autofocus system and reluctantly switched to canon recently. One Fuji film, one day.
Those portraits, stunning! What recipe did you use? Or was it post processed in LR? I'm still waiting for my X100VI, ordered on the 21 of February in the Netherlands.
Sadly I find my 16-80 also is not looking great on my xt5. As for auto focusing I don’t see improvements from xt3 when it comes to things like Birds in flight or people skateboarding etc. but I have Canon and Sony cameras for that. What I do like about xt5 is how quiet rthe shutter is and I love it with viltrox 75/1.2 and 27/1.2 which both resolve the 40mp sensor spectacularly.
When the X100V released I almost got it as my first Fujifilm camera, but thank heavens the availability was just as bad as the new model. I considered the X-T4 or X-H1 but in many online stores even used bodies are quite overpriced (and its worse the older the model). In the end I realized that the best bang for your buck is a brand new X-T5 (unless you get a very good deal on an older model). I have been really happy with the X-T5, just wish that a new firmware update improves AF-C. Some have been said that it might be a software issue, since lenses and processors could have the capacity to work much better.
I'm new to Fuji (from Sony) I bought the X-T3 then the X-T5 and preordered the X-100iv. For wedding videography and photography. I'm getting my X-100iv from KEH because I have a trade-in. I was told originally the second week of April and still haven't heard anything yet😢
I'd skip both and get an Xt3/4 😁. That 40mp sensor has created a good problem - Fuji really seems to need to keep updating its lens lineup. I must say that, if they start updating the older red badge lines, I will probably be first in line for the 16-55 and maybe the 50-140. I'd like to see someone test those lenses very carefully on 26mp and 40mp bodies.
I had both the previous version of the X100 and ended up selling them. They are primarily designed for looks, not for use. When you have to add a thumb rest and a grip for the camera to feel comfortable in your hand, something is wrong with the design.
Great comparison. XT5 is the logical choice, X100Ovi is the emotional choice (IMO). I actually think the XPro cameras are the better choice if you want a sexy, retro camera. All good cameras that can take great photos.
Fuji has to make their 23mm f2 vII improved and hopefully shorter in size. They do not have even one immaculate quality compact lens for everyday use in their whole "portable" mirrorless system (except x100VI 23mm but it is unattachable) 35mm f2 maybe close to it but not everyone in the world is nifty-fifty boy. 23-27 mm f2 small, fast and WR
X100vi IF I could get it for retail. But I can’t. Where I am from and where I travel to frequently both have the xt5 (with either lens kit) for about the same price if not LESS than the resell price of the x100vi

If I was starting again with my knowledge/Experience and could only get 1, and I needed it for my professional work it would be the X-T5; however, there are advantages to the X100 VI that can not be replicated easily by the X-T5... The Leaf shutter is the first being able to sync any flash at 1/2000 can't be replicated, a HSS unit can be purchased but at a vast expensive and you'd need several, having a built in flash commander (or fill flash) means less attachments, the same with the 4 Stop ND filter. You covered the advantages the X-T5 has (Interchangeable lenses WR, Dual card slots, bigger battery) apart from the WR the X100VI can not change lenses or get a second card slot, granted you can usb power the camera I believe (not that I've tried). 100% of my Photography on fuji is done using a 23mm, a 35mm & a 56mm (APS-C lenses) but if it came to it, with the 40MP sensor and the ability to crop, and the close focusing distance of the Lens on the X100 VI could I do everything just using the 23mm F/2 maybe, maybe. For me it would come down to how often do I need High sync speeds - not often (but I will use it more and more in the next year) Do I want to be able to grow my lens line up, or do I want to just take photography to the basics and shoot with 1 focal length (although the convertors would give you a slightly wider and slightly tighter options) However, I would not buy the XF23mm F/2.0, I'd buy the Sigma 23mm F/1.4, in my opinion is a much better lens at about the same price. Out of the 2, XT5! But since I dont have either, my X-H2S! More excuse to use my treasured 90mm and try out different lenses (when my wallet allows me to)!
Still is X-T5. The X-T50 is overpriced unless you truly care for having a slightly smaller ILC for almost the same price and less features but the FilmSims dial lol.
I sold the x100VI 5 times lol. All pre orders from B&H. Each time, I tried to like it more than my x100f and xpro2 with 23mmf2…. I couldn’t. It’s overrated for the price. Sold them between $2200 and $2300. At this point, I’m waiting for the medium format fixed lens that has been rumored.
I’ve sold it twice already. Last time, this guy threw $2400 at me, and even though I wasn’t planning to sell, I just couldn’t turn that down. That was literally yesterday, and now I’m kinda kicking myself 😩 I’ve got the X-T5 + Viltrox 27mm f/1.2, and the shots I get from that combo are fire, but sometimes it’s just too damn bulky. No clue what to do now. Any advice? Should I get the Fuji 27 f/2.8 pancake lens??
@@wuzcategui go with a manual lens set up. I’ve enjoyed the ttartisan 25 f2 pancake. Has an aperture ring and a nice dampened focus ring with hard stops. Image quality is fine for walk around lens and it’s really rewarding when you get your shots. When you need better IQ, your Viltrox is great. Personally, I feel the Fuji 28mm is too sterile but you can’t beat it for size and autofocus. Ttartisan has a 28mm autofocus for cheap that you could try as well.
I found the 35 mm 1.4 sharper than that 23mm 1.4 . Haven’t experienced that softness….yes Fuji the cult will break up due to autofocus. The xt5 will grow with you, I feel the camera can teach how to become a better photographer.

@@Iamtongue lol well make sure you save me one I can buy when I save enough money for a second \ or replacement. I am going to find the life expectancy of my current XT-5. @100,000 now
So the x100VI has a motor inside that sounds like R2-D2 and tracks better humans than the newest lens LM on XT5 but hunts like CDAF to settle in single point. This inconsistency in fujifilm autofocus is out of this world 🤣
That autofocus tracking that you showed is shocking for a 2024 premium camera even older sony aps c released years ago perform better why is fujifilm asking premium price for worse performance? they need to stop releasing camera and work on a complete update for the autofocus on the XTRANS 5 cameras the A6700 is cheaper and wipes de floor with all of them, the only thing keeping me with fuji are the film recipes
You don’t have to choose any one, Fuji will just take the money from your pockets and give you a machine that has 150% price of ten years ago performance.
X100vi or XT5? 👇

dont bother with x100vi unless you want to wait for 6 months to get it. i preordered mine at launch. still don't have it
Jesus Christ
defenatly x-t5!
Yes
I want a new 18mm F2 !!
Now the question is XT5 or XT50?
I should make a video on this even though I havent shot with the XT50 🙈🙈
Still is X-T5. The X-T50 is overpriced unless you truly care for having a slightly smaller ILC for almost the same price and less features but the FilmSims dial lol.
I was shocked I got mine on the very day of the official release from my local store.
You’re one of the lucky ones!
X-H2 😍
BOOM
I sold the x100VI 5 times lol. All pre orders from B&H. Each time, I tried to like it more than my x100f and xpro2 with 23mmf2…. I couldn’t. It’s overrated for the price. Sold them between $2200 and $2300. At this point, I’m waiting for the medium format fixed lens that has been rumored.
5 times? wth lol. I'm picturing you selling the camera, and then days later getting the though "maybe I was wrong?" and a new X100VI is on its way.
5 times?!
Well, he made enough money to buy 2 cameras for free 😮
XE5...if they would make one :')
I heard next year?
Xpro4.
haha maybe next year
@@Iamtongue fujirumors is positive about next year. This one will be around 2 500$ minimum but could be a banger
I found the 35 mm 1.4 sharper than that 23mm 1.4 . Haven’t experienced that softness….yes Fuji the cult will break up due to autofocus. The xt5 will grow with you, I feel the camera can teach how to become a better photographer.
That’s an astute observation it does make you better
X-T5 for most people. The X100 is really a second camera for most people I think.
X100 is for the cool kids
The x100vi looks better without a bulky grip or no grip at all would be even sexier
I agree
Sony A7IV for its colors! 😍🙂
Hahahah
Will you guys please stop showing how the XT-5 is not really that much bigger and is just flat better. I mean better Battery, Grip, D-PAD!!! Screen Your going to blow its popularity up and make it unobtainable for us normal working guys . It is already becoming hit and miss on stock considering it really is not that much more than the 100-VI and the new XT-50.
Never 💅
@@Iamtongue lol well make sure you save me one I can buy when I save enough money for a second \ or replacement. I am going to find the life expectancy of my current XT-5. @100,000 now
So the x100VI has a motor inside that sounds like R2-D2 and tracks better humans than the newest lens LM on XT5 but hunts like CDAF to settle in single point. This inconsistency in fujifilm autofocus is out of this world 🤣
RIGHT? 🥲🤣
@@Iamtongue Check CineDailies last video at 1:45 🤣 and community post about 6.0 firmware
LOL jesus, alot of questions how to revert back to previous firmwares 🤭
@@Iamtongue yep 🤣
Simple: both.
Makes sense 😂
That autofocus tracking that you showed is shocking for a 2024 premium camera
even older sony aps c released years ago perform better
why is fujifilm asking premium price for worse performance? they need to stop releasing camera and work on a complete update for the autofocus on the XTRANS 5 cameras
the A6700 is cheaper and wipes de floor with all of them, the only thing keeping me with fuji are the film recipes
I’ve seen a 6year old Sony camera with better autofocus 😅😂🥲
x100vi is still out of stock so the realistic answer is the XT-5.
Haha true
XT5 because it is so damn hard to change lenses with the X100😅😅😅
that's a very astute point.
XF 23/2 doesn't have what Fuji call linear motor
Xt5
yes!
XT5 and its no even close
💪
You don’t have to choose any one, Fuji will just take the money from your pockets and give you a machine that has 150% price of ten years ago performance.
Hahah
Fixed lens vs any lens you can buy.....hmmmm!
decisions decisions!
An overly priced, overrated, overhyped point n' shoot camera which lens cannot be changed? I´ll take the XT5 over that any day of the week.
Boom 💥
So wait, Fujifilm released a camera that they can't deliver. Interesting.
Haha unfortunately 😭🤣
Sausage 🎉
🌭🌭
Buy the x100vi and sell it for profit and get the xt5
That’s the spirit
