    I'm an international traveling businessman and daily practitioner of guitar. Every time I go on a long trip the only way I can get to sleep is by imagining I'm playing a guitar instead of counting sheep. This is a god send. He should find a quality manufacturer and start by selling in the duty free. Seems like an odd place to sell an instrument, but I have a hunch it would do surprisingly well and get great global marketing at the same time. Had I seen this at my last stop i would not hesitate to buy this. I'm not sure what it should be priced at, but the convenience is next level. That in itself would add value to this amazing creation.
    The case is cool, but honestly you can have a soft case to pack in a carry-on suitcase with a small modeler with headphone jack. fkg genius! Also AAFES (Army, Airforce Exchange) in deployed areas over seas wouldn't be able to keep this thing in stock. Bored soldiers would be all over this!

    Yes I've seen that guitar somewhere before,(believe it was Derell Braun channel ) but it didn't impress me enough to even remember it's name, the lever in the back stretches the strings back in tune,probably the best travel guitar I've seen,but I'm not even into them, a guitar to me, has to have a neck that doesn't fold and a body big enough to hold,I would have loved that guitar when I was a kid, back in my 007 & man from uncle days ect,but now I seek better tones and playability, not portability.

    Two thoughts about this.
    1. Not practical. There will be far more problems down the road than _any_ benefit you might get from this product. A total waste of time and money for any player out there. There are far better ideas and designs for a travel guitar.
    2. Totally awesome!
    From an industrial design perspective, this thing is pure art. A total museum piece that belongs in any collection, not just restricted to a musical collection.
    ...I want two of each.

    Ciari Guitars has gone around at NAMM the last few years and has been featured on a few channels recently. They make a similar guitar design with a neck that folds back using a special mechanism, but their guitars have a full body and headstock. They have several stock models and configs and can make customs design. It’s actually not a ton of money for what it is and the fact that it’s made in Nashville - they start at $1599. Have you seen that brand? Would be interesting to compare the Ciari design to this one.

    Hey Brad...hmmm dunno...I vaguely remember seeing something like those guitars in an old Japanese guitar magazine from the late 70's/early 80's. I used to get different Japanese guitar magazines back in the 80's and they were full of guitar advertising from all kinds of shops. It seemed like innovative travel sized instruments and other novelty designs were fairly common . I was always amazed at what the Japanese were producing that we never saw in the West, for the most part. Although that fellow is obviously very talented, imho I don't think there would be much of a market for the folding portable guitar other than as an interesting novelty. Thanks fir the video.Cheers!

    • @ChristopherCobra
      @ChristopherCobra 7 месяцев назад

      Likely would be a large market in a place like Japan. Personal space (even in the home) is at a premium there. I myself would pick one up depending on the price and quality. Much easier to travel with than a full rig or even acoustic. I have a few Japanese guitars - including a marquis/Polaris HB. They can make quality instruments for certain - and make them reasonably inexpensive. Good video.

    Neat concept. The tech side I would wonder how the truss rod works. Intonation would likely drift a bit too. As a quality curiosity and whole package I think his price is not bad. But as we see with many things like this can he really make them and deliver them. For the time involved it does not scale well. If I saw one in person and it was exceptional quality maybe would feel okay at 2k. But for those prices it is more like buying an art piece. It's only worth what it means to you.

    You an buy these the brand is Ciari, cost about $1,600. They do a double cut that looks like a rounder jazz master that can fit in a reasonably small bag considering the guitar.. Really is a great idea.

    18:17 I thought the same thing, but the body wood goes too far up the neck and the hinge is just past the 12th fret so I guess that would explain it. Fret access is an issue but they'd be great played like a lap steel.

      @TheGuitologist  8 месяцев назад

      You're right about access, but no worse than a typical acoustic.

    You would make a great ambassador for this project, simply by playing one. Potential buyers need to hear and see it being played.
    Like you, I think the idea and design is genius but how is it for playability and practical purposes?
    I do hope that you follow this story up. Exciting times potentially!

    $750 USD is probably the limit that people would spend but only possible if these were mass produced. There's an opportunity with that empty case to use transducers. Could be a unique sound for sure. Very cool and that guy is a natural engineer, no doubt.

    You gotta think like Les Paul. I read his first solid body was a rail road tie. But know body noticed until he put a hollow body around it. I guess people hear with their eyes.

    This inventor kicks ass, I hope some guitar company will license his idea! Incredible, love it. I would have one.. because of the fact that my silent guitar via Yamaha is now 1099 canadian, I would say it's there, however I would prefer it if there were a Kickstart for like 499.. if not, when I bought my first silent guitar in 2006 it was 699, so that would be a great starting point.. if they sell like hot cakes, ride that inflation tactic and jack-it-up every couple-a'yeerssss😂
