- We started spraying our corn and had to clean some plastic twine off the Digger Shanks and in the process I stabbed myself with a digger shank... Day 2- What should we do with our last 40 Acres of Mud?? We're debating trying No-Till.

TY for that. That is pretty much what I tell just about everyone that I meet. "Safety first because you are the most important thing. Everything else - schedule, equipment - is secondary".
I'm so jealous of the relationship you have with your dad. Even something like loading the chemical in the trailer would've been a big deal with my dad. Treasure that relationship.

i was a construction electrician for over 40 years. most people hear electrician, and say it was a easy job. most professions have easy and hard work, but for some reason, being a big guy, i got a lot of the hard, or bull work. now that i am retired, my body is paying me back for abusing it. hey, i really enjoyed the hard work, but now i regret it. i watch a lot of youtube, all kinds of work, and there is a few that the grass looks greener on the other side. i really like carpentry, wood working, not sheet rock. but i really think i would of enjoyed farming. NOT CATTLE, but farming like you do. i also like what WES, one lonely farmer does. also Ryan and his brother from how farms work. i guess it's to late to wish for something else, but keep up the good work knowing others are watching, wishing we did what you do.

Maybe the red tractor was in the field while he WAS DIRT TRACK RACING! so that's why he doesn't remember, lol.

I guess this answers the questions you were getting last fall about why waste time with fall tillage! No till = no seed around here

@@MillennialFarmer The question isn't why should ge be the one, the question is why shouldn't he be the one. With Kid Rock he's most likely more than willing go mud racing, you get great music, beer and a BBQ as a bonus. Win win for everyone.

I ripped my calf open on one those sweeps a few years ago. It was only in regular dirt, so I didn't go to the hospital. The point had even started to fish hook, so it really tore it open. Took forever to close up, but I've got a pretty gnarly scar. I'm a little more careful when I change those out now.
Been there 😂 I'm pretty sure I felt a similar pain in my arm when you showed those pointy shovels. Don't die not sure how I'd drink my beer without watching MMF videos haha

Here in the Netherlands we also try no till quite a bit but for the residu we use star wheels to take way the residu in de seeding lines. I believe those are for väderstad but they might work for you

A little torch and it really speeds up getting twine off. Used that method many times.

It must be nice to get some planting done. i have not turned a wheel and more rain in the forcast so for me it looks like a short year i just hope it drys up so i can get the wheat off when it gets ready i have been farming for 50 yrs and this is the first year no corn or beans will be planted and i am in NW Ohio

Great times working with Dad. My father had seven kids, 6 girls one boy. He decided I would be his buddy. I sat beside him ,thru countless hours of farming, no cab, no cover. And by the way, we always knew when our last tetanus shot was. We never had a serious farm accident. Love the sounds of farming.

Duct tape is for wounds and broken bones. WD40 is aches and stiff joints. Now would be a good time to spray WD 40 on your arm.

I feel your pain it was that way here in Pa last year got half planted half of that was junk losted 1st cutting of hay that ended up going for mulch hope we never see another year like last
If you do run on the no-till, I recommend run little to no row cleaner. we usually run straight coulters but with this wet year we are running with nothing in front of the row units in all no till ground.

Use a little torch on the twine around the bearings. It burns the twine right off and no digging with screw drivers
So, a short but interesting story, I'm in Ireland right now, but we were just outside of London for 3 days and the first day I went to a little equipment show (in England mind you), and of all things I see, there's a John Deere 9620 RX sitting high and mighty. In *England*
Get a pair of long welders gloves, may help from cutting your arm again.

I used to use OLFA knives for twine....now I use carpet knife/drywall knife. You can't break the blade...and they are curved so you can give a really good pull.
Boy that last feller sure left a mess. I'd be pretty nervous about planting into that. I say dig it up and let it dry a few days then get it planted.

I am certain I cannot be the only one to see that 9520 rx with the Deere VT tool aimed at the wet 40 can I . Long time ago our local dirt track ran on Wednesday night , friend had a car ,we always shut down for the event and always managed to survive , gotta have some kinda relief !!! Glad you're getting to the end of planting ,even if it's not perfect!! Thanks for the video!!

I feel your pain with your arm. I was removing a glass pane from a large window one day, hoping I wouldn’t break the window on removal. But just in case I did, I had my welding gloves on for protection. The entire pane came out in one piece, but then shattered. A shard of glass came down and sliced my arm just behind the glove! Just a quarter inch behind the glove! Couldn’t find any bandages in the first aid kit big enough, so I used the next best thing. Toilet paper and duck Tape!
Blood squirting everywhere and a visit to the er. I was questioned by counselors because they thought I tried to slice my wrist! They couldn’t believe my account. Ended up getting a 2 hour surgery and 58 stitches in my arm! Took a pitcher of the glove and glass on the floor for a follow up appointment to show them. They still couldn’t believe my luck. Great dr although, Hard to see the scar!

My dad always says you never wanna work wet ground cuz if it gets rain afterwards with it still wet it turns to rocks but that is with clay which is all around here in northwest Indiana sooo idk but I’m sure you gonna figure it out great video as usual 👍

I think I would drop the clog buster, and set my digger shallow. It would help it dry out , and loosen that mat up at the same time. And I am a small family farm in Wisconsin and we have been wet here as well.
Here the year has been very good. Grass and grains look great. Hopefully you get great yields.

We finally got our corn in on Monday ( Tuesday morning) we were in the fields till 4: 30 am to get it in before the rain came in Tuesday night.

It seems that you may need a seeder that pulls the seed tank behind the planter, giving you better floatation in wet conditions. Bourgault makes a good seeder and they have developed openers that work well I hear.
