Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

After reading my daily national newspapers (NY Times & Washington Post), with the resulting dose of existential anxiety and an increase in my blood pressure, I turn to the Millennial Farmer for an accurate view of what a more sane America looks like. Thanks Millennial Farmer, your RUclips page may well save me from experiencing several severe episodes of 'hysterical hee-bee-jee-bees' (a complex technical term used by us psychologists).

Onyx seems a pretty smart kid to me. How he said that: "Kees" (Case) I should swear he had dutch roots. Like to hear him say KC. That"s how kids call each other by name here. btw. He seems to say that with kind off some fear. Like he expected punnishment after that. He"s watching all that green malfunction to. Header, no header. Confusing? Don"t blame him if he"s not that excited. Think that smart kid have just some red blood, not so much green blood anyway ;)=

I have been watching your videos for the last several weeks. Its amazing how much farming equipment and technology have changed in the last 55 years. I was going to major in agriculture management. Got three years of college and then Vietnam changed everything. Later worked for a large irrigation district here in Central California where I put some of my education to use. Other employment opportunities took me away from agriculture. But I have never lost my love of the soil. Three generations on one side of the family have been farmers. It must be in the genes. Keep up the videos, very enjoyable.

Planting green is the way of the future, so getting educated own it and the modification to the equipment to make it work good is something every farmer is going to have to modify his planting and farming retains, with all the research being down on cover crops and hiw iys better for the fields water retaining and environmental effects, it's going to probably be a government program to push this new area of farming as well as animals being apart of it but that will more then likely be a preference thing which I've looked into and they have some very good results in animals tillage and fertilizing, good results, God bless brother

I'm glad you got preventive planting on that 40. I know that sometimes the insurance bulks on newly rented ground as some farmers took advantage in the past by renting more ground than they could handle in a wet year and using the insurance to cover them. With the planter, more whistles & bells makes more ringing in the ears.

Zach, it’s definitely a learning process unique to each farm and field when planting green. We’re getting comfortable doing it in cover crops the last few years. You might even try raising the row cleaners totally out of the way. Sometimes that helps and your downforce won’t work against the cleaners. We had a landlord let some CRP expire on a ditch ask a few years ago. Took two season to get it all killed off. I bet your beans will come up nice though!

We had 450 acres of cotton hailed out. We re-planted 320 this week and will plant 110 more corn June 24th after the insurance adjuster releases Monday. We will plant 101 day P0157 if we find it, that should make 220 bu/ac with a normal Oct 16 frost date in Texas
