  • We switched back to planting corn after spending a day doing soybeans. We're racing the rain and trying to get our last 200 acres in! This has been a rainy spring but the farm work never stops.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

You can actually plant faster with row cleaners with just wheels. They never slung up the roots like your tracks are doing. The row units did not bounce around as much with the row cleaners moving the clods out of the way. Made a much more even seed bed and even emergence as well. On our Kinze we have a slanted bar that hugged the wheels that keep the wheels clean as well. But at the same time we didn't work the ground either. It was notilled

Totally hi tech farming, I grew up on a farm in the 50s and very early 60s, the equipment you have nobody could have imagined at that time, there was a big jump in farm production from horses to the farm machinery in my day. There was much bigger jump in production with the type of farming equipment now available. Keep up the interesting videos

This has been the most crazy spring I can remember in my 48 years. Winter dragging on 'til April, April showers coming a month late, flowers freezing, which means a serious hit to fruit crops, especially apples. My wife and I will be lucky if we can get our balcony bucket garden going before the end of June!

Another informative video. I like how you explain the process that you go through when planting. For us city slickers we see that there is more to farming than meets the eye. Thanks. Stay dry!!!!! Oh I also like your 'behind' the scenes action..... eating a long john, having lunch delivered, belching. You never bring a boring day on the farm.

Here in michigan we call our field cultivator a digger as well. We enjoy the videos and we watch them while we farm as well. We have 3500 acres and custom farm another 1500 to 2000 acres depending on the year and weather in our area. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friend! I'm watching this video again I'm starting to think about planting season it's only 7 to 8 weeks away .

Weld a piece at the end to make a T and have have a piece on each of the ends the would be close enough to the tracks to knock of residue but not touch the tracks? Not a farmer but a fan so it may sound ridiculous but just a thought.
