Beyond Creation Omnipresent Perception ~ Reaction and Dissection ~ The Decomposer Lounge
The heavy metal community always supports people willing to listen.
heavy metal?
yesssss
@@thevsis- death metal is a subgenre of heavy metal. Thus a death metal band is a heavy metal band.
Fretless bass in technical death metal started back with Death on Human with Steve DiGiorgio on bass. It's a staple of the style!
Yeah! You can also hear his work on the last Quo Vadis album which I believe was an inspiration for Beyond Creation.
good bass is also on Individual Thought Patterns
And then you got Cynic with both fretless and the stick handled by Sean Malone (rest in peace buddy).
@@orkhestra Still gutted about the Seans. That one/two punch of Neil Peart and Sean Reinert within like a month did not do me well. :(
Human is such an amazing album. It's hard for me to choose a favorite Death album, but Human just has so much going for it, and as a bassist myself, it's definitely an album I go to for inspiration.
This bass player is otherworldly
The bassist of this band is called Dominic "Forest" Lapointe and he is now playing in First Fragment, another canadian tech death band or even neoclassical tech death band. I'd recommend you to listen to any of their latest 2 singles - "Pantheum" or 'La Veuve et Le Martyr "- In my opinion they have been the best band in the genre for a while and I think any of this two songs shows the level of music composition and technical playing (if you like solos listen to pantheum, it has 18 of them =D )
Archspiren is right up there with them
I was just going to post and recommend the same thing. He is going to explode when he hears the bass in First Fragment haha! Such ridiculous musicians...
Also please.... spawn of possession! Total unique sound!
@@stolentechniques2519 That is a must as well. SoP is tied as my favorite in the history of the genre with necro.
he left beyond creation ?
Taking things up another notch or two, Archspire released a new single a couple weeks ago called Golden Mouth of Ruin. You won’t need coffee for this one.
Geebz...your face during that tremendous bass solo was priceless! Awesome reaction to an insanely talented band. A lot of fun to watch and really looking forward to the metal that is coming this week.
Lol 5:53? Just saw this band for the third time this weekend and remembered this reaction and had to check it out again.
Earthborn Evolution is another song by this band that really showcases their incredible bass skills
The Inversion is their best in terms of songwriting imo.
E.E is an absolute banger
@@RsPker141 The songwriting is incredible IMO.
The bass player is now in First Fragment, their new song La Veuve & Le Martyr has some of the most amazing metal basslines
duuuude
soif brulante, solus too
He is not in this band anymore?
Loved FF's first album though
Oh. I was gonna recommend them. Learnt something instead ,')
love this bassline, Forest is a fretless beast, left handed, and this is on a 6 string fretless
I saw him play a show while he was still recovering from having broken his right wrist, wearing a brace. The guy still never missed a note.
@@Misrabelle nice
He's impressive for even finding a 6 string left handed fretless, let alone playing it.
@@hoist8111 they're out there the real trouble is verity or finding a good one.
His are custom made by MF Luther, I believe they're called.
The moment you realized it was a fretless bass is going to be a classic moment on your channel I will go back to watch. I really want to see what you think of Dillinger Escape Plan - Baby's First Coffin. Its a rollercoaster of a song and doesn't get as much love as their other work.
I'll upvote anything requesting TDEP without even thinking twice about it :P
Yes yes YES!
One of the best Tech Death Bands out there! I love them. Earthborn Evolution is probably the most emotional Tech Death song I've ever heard!
Idk why people are still recommending omnipresent perception for reactions when earthborn evolution is so superior in every aspect.
Should give Rivers Of Nihil a listen, especially their debut album
@@behinddeadeyes yeah, I love Rivers, great band
Beyond Creation is one of those bands you can literally pick any track and it's going to blow your mind. Whether it's soloing over alternating 7/8 and 8/8 in The Aura, the insane stamina of playing The Deported (11 minutes long) or l'Exorde which is almost entirely tapping. Even Elevation Path, their only calm song is packed with technical parts.
I also love how short L'exorde is, somehow makes it super powerful and agressive, much more than if it was a 4-6 minute song. They're there to give you some dramatic heaviness and nothing more. Feels almost like a punk song in it's form. I feel like the heavier the music is the shorter it should be to maintain it's heaviness.
@@BORN753 yes, and no. In part I agree that it becomes a more aggressive song if it's short, because it forces the writing into keeping just a few bits. Where I disagree is with heaviness, to me tech death isn't heavy. For me, heaviness is soulcrushing, slow riffs where every note hits like a truck. Then you want long songs. The best example I know of that is Murdered by Grief by the band Frowning.
This is a fantastic choice.
Now I would recommend Apparition by Spawn of Possession.
another fine choice, Erlend Caspersen is a beast on bass. He has also played bass on the 2 latest Igorrr releases
I have been asking for spawn of possession too many times! They had a sound no other band has even come close to!
100%
Yes please. Absolute Masterpiece.
Yes!!! He did it ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much for watching this!
the bass player could have easily just matched the guitar for a song like this, but they decided to turn it up a notch and I'm so glad they did! It doesn't take away from the overall feel of the song but still adds enough to notice and be impressed, love it! I recommend you add Arctic Monkeys - "Arabella" to the list, it's got a great groove and funky 70s drums that I know you'll like!
Gorguts - Le toit du Monde
Great seeing beyond creation on here. Would be cool seeing you react to revocation, a band that I feel doesn't get the praise they deserve, on your channel. Dave Davidson is one of my favorite guitar players out rn because of his jazz background, phrasing, and his ability to blend subgenres into death metal, like thrash, groove, progressive and of course those jazz voicings. Suffer these wounds, madness opus and communion are great songs to start with. Keep doing you Geebz!
Love Dave myself, dude is a legend already
One of the greatest modern guitarists, for my money.
The first time I heard this band was from a friend who played it in the car. I ended up driving around the block just to finish it, I was blown away. This album in particular has always been one of my favorites.
Can you please check out Inferi? Perhaps their song Behold the bearer of light?
If you want a tech death band to listen to for sheet virtuosity… I’d recommend Spawn of Possesson - songs like The Evangelist or Where Angels Go, Demons Follow…
Apparition it's also a classic
Anything off the Incurso album would be amazing!
Also "Render My Prey", which is another of my favourite songs of all time.
Revocation - Crumbling Imperium everybody needs to hear that solo in the middle at least once
I second this!
Archspire - Involuntary Doppelganger
I think you are ready
I love these guys. Really chill guys in person. Fundamental Process or Earthborn Evolution would also be great songs to do
So glad you got to Beyond Creation. Lovely band. Good stuff Geebz.
I saw these guys live back in 2019 … they were so chill, relaxed and funny dudes… and the musicianship was flawless, note for note…
Heyyyy my dudes! I made the drummer a shirt with his face printed massive front and back and he sent me pics wearing it on tour in Europe. Legendary lol.
What are the odds that you’d catch this? Congratulations, that’s super cool
aand I need to start requesting „Slice the Cake“ some day, else we never get you there. If you ever have need for a special video, go get yourself into „The Man with no Face“ from them.
Definitely has to get to Slice the Cake
Wow this masterpiece is incredible. I haven't heard anything like this since I've listened to Death, Obituary, Possessed, Carcass, Vader, Necrophiliac, etc... Wow!!! I'm extremely happy to be hearing this band, and I will be definitely checking them out! 👑💯🤘
Listen to Beyond Creation's newest album.
Man, if you dig these guys you should check out First Fragment, or Equipose, or Inferi. Lots of really beautiful melodic, jazzy, neoclassical tech out there! I'm sure you'd dig em.
I'd really love to see him review Inferi!
There's tons of good recommendations on here. But I'd be really stoked to see what you have to say about Portal. Would be interesting to hear what someone with a strong music background would have to say about it.
Something off Vexovoid he could listen to twice, EQ'd 2 completely different ways of hearing, atmospheric gives way to technical
Try Rivers of Nihil “The Silent Life” it’s an amazing song heavy as hell with a brass surprise!!!!
+1 for Rivers of Nihil!
I dunno, if you're doing Nihil how do you not do Where Owls Know My Name? Tough call man
Forest is my favorite bass player in metal. So damn good!
Beyond Creation is an insta-click. Incredible band, and one of my favorite genres.
That face a sheer elation when the (fretless) bass solo dropped!😳😮😃
I know the feels😏
I still come back to this one. One of the best reactions ever to such awesome music.
Finally!! This is gonna be a nice review i already know it!
Eluveitie: Rebirth
8-10 instruments depending on the song. I would love to hear your analysis of Eluveitie. Rebirth just happens to be my favourite
I love Eluveitie!
Big ups to the Eluveitie-Recommendation.
I dont really think Rebirth is the best song to start with them, tho..
For the new Lineup I‘d recommend something like Ambiramus (more typical for the new lineup) or Deathwalker (more of their variety)
For the old Lineup it‘d have to be Inis Mona or Call of the Mountains (for this one I‘d recommend the multilingual one especially-only on YT)
I just discovered Eluveitie and Cellar Darling and I just can't stop listening. Can't get enough!
Was lucky enough to see these guys play from beside the stage. I couldn't take my eyes off the drummer the entire time. Just nuts.
Considering there's quite some focus on composition on this channel, I'm very inclined to recommend Spawn of Possession - Apparition as some others have done! It's one of the strongest compositions in death metal that I know of thus far
Your face at 9:52 makes my heart scream with happiness, lol. The moment you realize it's a fretless bass is amazing.
I hope you see this because this video means a lot to me and just solidifies my opinion on this genre. There are no shit musicians. And what if this was played in an orchestra setting! I've always said this to anyone who will listen!
Your face when rhe bass solo started was one of the best things ever.
I'm glad you've come around to checking Beyond Creation out. I suggest bass playthrough of "Earthborn Evolution", truly beautiful song.
Also, Persefone "Living Wave", one of those very well composed modern death-metal songs.
Jon Gomm "Passionflower" guitar playthrough, for your acoustic corner.
Great job on the channel. Much love form Poland 🤘
I'm glad you're back to harsher and less mainstream acts!
Please, please, do:
Ulcerate - Dissolved Orders
Vildhjarta - The Lone Deranger
Humanity's Last Breath - Tide
I would love to hear metal songs like this covered by a group of classical musicians. That's a really interesting thought and I'm glad you put it into my head!
Yours is 1 of only 2 reaction channels that I'll watch every video from, rather than just the ones featuring artists I know/like.
Please geebz give alkaloids kernel panic a try. It's literally tech death with some Yes influence. You'll love it.
+1! Alkaloid are fantastic, truly unique. Please Geebz, please!!
@@TheDragonservant they're the textbook definition of supergroup. I have a feeling he's gonna find them sooner or later. There is actually some throat singing done by the vocalist which I always like to see.
@@TheDragonservant Been praying for an Alkaloid reaction! Rise of the Cephalopods would be my dream, but at 19 minutes that's probably a pipe dream. Carbon Phrases would be sick, though.
@@anoptforout Couldn't go wrong with any of their tracks to be honest. Let's push for a whole discography reaction!
Yes! Waiting for Alkaloid on this channel for so long. "As Decreed by laws unwritten" has the most "angry sounding" guitar-riffs i ever heard and it has so many influences. It is a true journey for sure! And beeing written for 3 Guitars maybe makes it kinda special :)
What's amazing about this band is that the lead dude litteraly writes everything. It's amazing he found members to create the sound he was after.
Hahah... his face when he realized it's a fretless bass at 9:50
Geebz you should check out Fallujah “ The Void Alone” It’s such a good song. It falls right in line with Beyond Creation, Obscura
That or "Sapphire" would be amazing!
Just listened to Harvest Wombs for the first time in a few years and was blown away all over again. Wish I could say the same about their latest album..
So glad you covered this track. Monstrous musicianship.
This might be the first extreme metal review I see on your channel. There's definitively a brand new rabbit hole to go through even with as narrow as picking the bass player on this recording, Forest Lapointe since he's played with dozens of extremely talented Canadian Death Metal band so you end up picking up most of that scene by association, kinda like looking other bands guys like Gene Hoglan has been involved with on the American side.
He's also done stabwound by necrophagist
He's done quite a few extreme metal reactions.
He's done Rivers Of Nihil and Behemoth as well
So happy to see guys from my part of country here, Beyond Creation freaking rule, cheers from Mtl !
Have been lucky enough to catch Beyond Creation live twice, absolutely solid live shows.
To promote another relatively unknown metal band from Canada: Invicta, Sacred Scourge
My boy Forest tearing up that bass!!!
These guys (and many others) will hopefully lead you to the pre-cursor band and their mid-period; *Death* and the albums "Human", "Individual Thought Patterns" and "Symbolic" (many will also include the last Death album "The Sound of Perseverance").
Great reaction Geebz. I love these first listen reactions to technical death metal. You were very respectful and insightful with zero judgement. Thank you for your contributions! And cheers from Finland!
You NEED to react to Spawn of Possesion - Apparition
It's AMAZINGLY written technical death metal along with orchestral sounds, it works very, very well. Hoping you take my suggestion and I really appreciate your videos!
It's interesting when you talk about theater of the mind and what metal evokes. Interestingly, having listened to it for so long, instrumental passages like this actually make me think not of violence but of nature, and it's sort of evolved past being "aggressive" into simply being "music" and "mood". For me personally, that passages makes me think of how the abrupt changes in weather feel in the spring time.
I just love how absolutely evil that fretless sounds
Awesome, was not expecting this. These guys are obviously top of the food chain.
Awesome!!! I've been waiting for this, thank you!
I've been super busy lately but seeing you react to this was just too interesting. That bass and overall song is incredible.
As a bass player, fretless is my absolute favorite and Forest the bass player here is one of the top fretless guys he is so insane. Such a great sound from fretless
Oh man, you're finally here. Been waiting for this one!
I love love love your videos, I hear so much more in the music when I follow along with your explanations. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I have been patiently waiting this day.
YOOOOOOO I SUGGESTED THIS LETS GOOOOOOOO SO HYPE, LOVE YOU BROTHER GEEBZ
I've seen Beyond Creation live supporting Dying Fetus and it's incredible to see these guys play this stuff in support slots for bigger named bands, they're so technical and they make it look easy, it's crazy that musicians this good are out there going unnoticed all too often.
Lordy, I never expected to see this! Kudos for doing it - what an absolute blinder it is. Their best song, in my opinion. Cheers! 🤘
More BASS to the people!
So glad you did this, Geebz, to see your face during the fretless bass solo was priceless ! Very impressive band indeed, Cheers !
quebec represent!! great band. good choice
one of the best live shows i ever seen was this band with Obscura and Archspire 🔥🤘🏻 the fretless bass is a staple of those Canadian techdeath bands
You know you want more of that bass! "Theatrical Delirium" is a goodie.
Saw these guys live a couple of years back. They are the real deal!
I'm glad you enjoyed. This is a track that I come back to often.
Again you show that you are the best reacter out there. Keep it up brother.
So so amazing 👌🤘
Oooohh man I’m going to have to check these guys out. Totally dig it.
Awesome analysis. I think you'd like Slice The Cake a lot, lots of dynamics and interesting voicings
I love your Aries coffee cup!
Request #12 for Devin Townsend Project’s “Planet of the Apes”
ELDER
potions by puscifer on the recycle ♻️
Best bass sound. David w sims from the Jesus lizard.
Thanks geebz. Awwlright I am still here
Love watching your breakdowns but this one really made me smile. This band and album are really underrated gems and I knew when that fretless bass solo went off you'd react some kinda way and it didn't disappoint! Awesome choice! Thanks! The vocalist is also one of the guitarist which always blows my mind...
So happy you caught the god tier bass this band has
Big fan! Love to see you peek at Scale the Summit and the Omnific.
Dude is blazed, nice
You said everything about this song that made myself and a good friend love this band
Theres a bass playthrough on the band youtube from about 10yrs ago
“Omnipresent perception of slamming balls” 2:38 🤘🪩
They play that shit live, man. Unreal.
Reminds me of Dethklok from the animated Adult Swim TV show Metalocalypse, which pokes fun of the metal genre. They are a real band with album releases. Listen to their song "Murdmaider."
One of the best Tech Deth songs, so glad you got to this one!
YOOOOOO Beyond Creation is awesome! Tech death is a fun genre to get into. You definitely gotta check out some Gorod, First Fragment, and the new stuff from Ophidian I.
FINALLY. My fav song in the channel 😭😭😭
Moment I saw this my eyes popped outta my head with excitement, knowing you were about to experience the pure awe I did when first listened to it (and the subsequent 5000 times). All I gotta say, is that if you enjoyed this and saw it to be something special, just wait until you hear Earthborn Evolution by these guys. Somehow takes all they've done here and blows it into absolute fucking oblivion.
Love the videos my man, they make my day every time I get a chance to sit down and watch.
I love this band. I saw them live and they are incredibly precise musicians, amazing. I love how up front the bass is.
Yes. these guys play with 6 string fretless bass and 8 string guitars!! :D
amazing stuff
It's so worth listening to Beyond Creation albums from start to finish. The songs flow together seamlessly.
Soooooooo glad you chose to review such awesome tech metal bands.. you are awesome friend👍🤘👏👏👏👏👏👏
Check out Obscura's new song "A Valediction"!
drumming is stellar
