This is the exact same strategy that took my band from just under 200 followers to 1,055 as of yesterday (and most over the past couple months). Used the algorithm and community interaction to do this. No ads . We’ve had to slow down a bit (every 3 weeks now) but have such a huge stockpile now that I could do this for another year without doing anything new lol
Thumbnail is 🔥 for this. I like that you used green for the background because I see this as some great evergreen content! Yes I know he used green for Spotify...
This is really interesting!! One thing is curious about is if you’re copyrighting your songs with this release cadence. I tend to save my songs up to copyright them as a group of unpublished works to save hundreds of dollars in fees, but that means waiting until a batch of songs are ready to be able to release them. How do you schedule copyrights with this strategy?
W vid bro my questions are What day of the week did you choose to be the best release day. Do you keep the same general vibe with your songs or do you drop different vibes each week. And what will you do if you want to make an Ep or an Album with a theme, will you keep dropping weekly or use those weeks to promote the Upcoming Album or Ep?
Amazing questions !! 1) I always drop on Friday at midnight (new york time, thats a setting in DistroKid) because release radar updates every Friday, along with many of their editorial playlists. 2) I have honestly had enough of "trying to blowup" by hitting a niche or whatever, so I just decided to get more creative and experimental and drop a different style each week. Some do better over time than others but that's like any style of drop. 3) Right now my plan is to drop a full project worth of songs and then group them into an album and clear the singles off so every song becomes more uniform and clean on my discography.
I think releasing a song every week is good but it's also good to put just a couple songs at a time cuz after while people will get oversaturated because as soon as you release Wellness on people listen to it there's another song another one another one another one and so forth and after while people just get burned out and kind of lose interest
Would this work for new artist? like no fanbase, hasn’t dropped a song in years but wanting to start music back up? How would you go about that? Like if you were in my shoes and wanted to drop your first song? Thanks!
I think so, but you would need to do extra work outside of the drops. Followers on your Spotify are the most important for the algorithm boost, so collecting presaves, sending them before they drop to streamers as promo, running FB presave campaigns, consistent tiktoks, etc. could help that. It likely wouldn't work great to just drop without any promo as well as it has been working for me since I already had some followers to begin with.
Do you believe this will still work even if you just started making music in the last few months? I was considering doing this but I only have a few dozen listeners/followers on my Spotify at the moment so not sure if that matters or not.
This strategy still works amazing, but the quality of the music has to be high enough to continue getting push of course. So, if you started only a few months ago might just need a few years of work to hit that point !! You do also need followers, using DK presaves is how I collect the most followers
Small artists, 1000% singles because audience retention is super low. You'll get a decent amount of streams on the first 4 or 5 tracks and then it will quickly fade to 0. Sucks but it happens a lot. Drop singles and group them into an album later !!
but you can't pitch two songs at the same time, so how do you do to get in the radar ? You only can pitch it one week before, so isn't it bad for the algorithm ?
I pitch every 3rd song so I'm more likely to get an editorial placement. Giving a good length of time is good for their curators. Every release should go to release radar, regardless of pitching or not, but what I've noticed is if you DO pitch a song, it works in the release radar a bit better. I think this is cause RR has a "discover weekly" type feature where it still fills all 30 slots each week, even if artists you listen to / follow didn't drop. This will automatically fill with songs from artists the algorithm thinks you're going to like.
These singles are going to be apart of the album. Essentially I am dropping each song from the album as singles, and then grouping them all together after so they each have their own place in the algorithm and people already have songs they love from it. Then I can delete the single versions to clean up my discography, and not lose any streams.
Interesting. But doesn't Spotify "punish" you by not showing your newest release on your followers Release Radar unless there's about a 4-6 week gap between songs?
love your stuff man. but if you can, i know you already did this but can you make a preset in fl studio that is similar to glaive & ericdoa's song called cloak n dagger? also since you are a GOD at distrokid, can you teach us how to title our songs with non-standard capitalisation? You're a legend, luv ur stuff, keep up the amazing videos!
Thank you so much mate !! I appreciate the kind words 🧡 I might be able to create a preset in that style if I get to making more presets soon. Also, DK made it possible to just type in titles however you want a few months back. You just type it in however you want it, and at the bottom an additional check box will appear and you just check it and you should be good 😁
@@MMXVII thanks mate! you're a real one. if u do create a preset like that i will be the first one to purchase i am already using ur justin bieber one :)

I don’t exactly what you’re tryna pull her buddy. But just know I’m on to you. I havent figured it all out yet. But I know you’re up to no good.
Being able to produce music quickly is the secret sauce. I’m still working on that. Keep it up bro! It’s inspiring.
Thank you man !! it took me almost 5 years to get to this point, it will get there for you too, keep going !! 🧡
more than a decade over here@@MMXVII

Lets fucking gooo !! the compounding growth of this consistency really pays off 😁
Crazy results man, strategy sounds great but the music has genuinely been killer and I think that’s gotta be the main factor!
Thank you so much brother !! I think I've finally found a balance that really helps my creativity and my results efficiently 🤩

Bro that's smart that you upload them as soon as your done. I needed to hear that because I always upload to lately. I do weekly too
Had to play that last section back a 2nd time 💎💎💎
Great video, I’ve been wanting to do this but need to start getting a good back catalogue ready. I can’t wait to start it
Hell yea fam, you got this !!
Awesome video, found you through Andrew Southworth. Your story of releasing is so inspiring, just subscribed.
Your dedication to the art of music is truly admirable. Consistency is king. 👑

would love to see a video on how you make songs fast. unless you’ve already done it. cheers king. ✌🏽
hmmmm this is an interesting idea, I don't think I would be able to show examples too well, but I could sorta explain how I do it
@@MMXVII just whatever you learned since you started dropping songs. you’ve def gotten faster and better.

I've honestly never heard that before, and from what I have seen so far, I don't think so. The stats show tons of return listeners every week for me.
