What your favorite Legos to play with?? I was always a sucker for the Star Wars ones!!
I wasn’t allowed Lego, my dad was a bit strange. I had to play with Thunderbirds. A paper in the UK did some small Lego builds a few years back and I couldn’t even put them together. But I like the look of the Star Wars builds and the giant Hogwarts set.
bionicles always
Harry Potter at the moment. Love the sets
When I was little, we had the spaceship 80s set and a few kits that had several builds in the instruction. I loved my off-brand Smurf blocks, too. Today, I love to buy the Harry Potter and LOTR ones for my kids.
I played with my dad’s 1950’s/60’s set when I was little, back then girls weren’t really encouraged to build things. Now that I’m an adult, I buy anything my niece and nephew ask me for, my dad is into the app-controlled Technic range and I collect the Architecture series for myself.
My favorite piece of trivia is that the spaceship guy's helmet is cracked and in real life that piece was notorious for breaking in that exact spot!
when i saw this movie for the first time i was SO enamoured with that detail because i had a BUNCH of space guys and only a Single one of those helmets was completely fine.
69th like, nice
@@JynxGod I love how the second film introduced a small Classic Space theme set with 4 Classic Astronauts (including a new pink variant), and their names all rhymed with "Benny."
It actually happened to my Lego piece too XD
I had one from my dad that was exactly like that
The best thing about this movie is the line where Vitruvius just blurts out
"You're gonna have to write all that down, cuz I'm not gonna remember any of these names anyway, here we go."
That was not in the script. It was just a blooper that Morgan Freeman said while recording his lines. It was so out of pocket, and funny, that they decided to leave it in the movie anyway.
I love that kine so much! So glad they put it in the movie!
SUCH a crime this movie wasn’t nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Film, let alone win. 😭 The storytelling, the animation, the humor, it’s all solid. ❤️
I originally wanted it to be a traditional stop motion film but after watching the film I thought the CGI was good.
@@theawesomeman9821 it honestly felt like a stop motion
Yes, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sometimes seems as snobby as the judges of the 19th-century French Salon ever were. Sometimes their cluelessness is positively - or, better yet, NEGATIVELY - mind-boggling. 😒 😎
(By the bye, you left out the best, most solid thing of all about the movie...
the MESSAGE.) 🌄
@@theawesomeman9821 And some of it is stop motion. When Emmett pointed towards the monitors showing citizens building with creativity, those were winning fan submissions. The End Credits sequence and a few time skips were also stop motion.
@@goldenager59 And yet they somehow nominate The Boss Baby over both The Lego Batman Movie AND A Silent Voice. 😡
what i loved the most about the film was the whole "the most ordinary dude is the main character", cus when i was a kid i would only play with city lego. so i would have "normal" people like a constuction workers, firemen, civilians etc, and make up all these stories with them. normally about them being a saviour of some kind, like emmet ahaha. so this film felt like such a flashback to my childhood.
I just built houses, everyone else seems to have had this really magical Lego experience as a kid...
I made a concert once, though!
Though, to be fair, I was more of a Barbie kid, and that's where a lot of the imagination came in.
@@cranberryrosebud My brother and me sometimes had castle building competition were we would build the walls with peterns on them and no matter how many Lego bricks we had we never had enough for both our castles.
I loved the city set growing up. Well that and friends/elves but don't mention that. I always thought the construction workers were adorable/was a sucker for cops and robbers.Emmett just proving my point.
Quick animation fun fact: while the entire movie was CG but animated like stop motion, the credits were actually made with traditional stop motion.
Yeah, 100% animated, but everything in the movie could be built with real LEGO bricks. You could freeze a frame and get the bricks to recreate it ... Pretty impressive.
Except the live-action shots that'd probably be pretty hard
@@oscargill423 TRUTH!!!
Did you guys know that at 19:52 where Morgan Freeman says .." ..aarrghh we gotta write that all down cause I'm not gonna remember any of it, but here we go.." is actually him getting frustrated with the writers after they had to change his lines a couple of times and they kept it in the movie😆
This movie was such a shock when it came out, my expectations were so low (i hadn't played the games). The comedic timing and innovation are soo smart, many have tried but it can not be matched. (Emoji movie *blurgh*)
The Batman one is hilarious with lots of great references you'll get now you've watched the other movies
James: I saw this movie once, in the theater...
Me: Nice! Me too... It was one of the better animated movies in the last couple of years...
James: It was awesome for 12 or 13 year old me...
Me: Literally see my face get wrinkles in front of me...
LMAO
I saw it when I was 7 🧍🏻
"This song is the 'Let It Go' of my generation"
Frozen and The Lego Movie came out 3 months apart.
WAT da heck 😳 😐 😑 🤣 😒 39:15
Something I've recently realised is that The Lego series (Movie, Movie II, Batman) is like if (good) RUclips skit artists were given a Hollywood budget and production studios. Really silly and goofy looking at a surface level, but insanely profound and mind blowing in depth.
Yep!!! Perfectly summarized
I love how Liam voiced both good cop and bad cop. But this whole movie I thought was just going to be a huge commercial and a cash in and it was actually amazing.
Naw he’s great!!!
Fun (and dark) fact: Nail Polish Remover, when applied to plastic, is very acidic! Which is why the colouring comes off so easily! Basically, in universe, Good Cop had his face melted off by acid.
Holy shit. That's like The Dip from Roger Rabbit.
You were correct, the piece numbers in the 'master builder' sequences are indeed the correct numbers for those lego pieces.
Another fun fact is that Liam Neeson plays both Good Cop _and_ Bad Cop. The directors originally wanted him to record the two parts separately, but he instead chose to record both at the same time, flipping between the two voices to make the character seem more manic.
Apart from the son and dad scenes, this is completely computer animated including added fingerprints, worn stickers and helmet cracks in pieces that were notorious for breaking.
This movie defined my entire childhood. This movie wouldn’t leave 7 year old me’s head for almost an entire year
The Lego Batman Movie is one of the best pieces of Batman Media I’ve ever seen, second only to Holy Musical Batman (from Starkid), its a hilarious movie.
If you liked this one you will def like The LEGO Batman which is just hilarious and packed with references to the comics, movies, and overall history of the character (and dc comics in general). Also genuinely really good.
i already know this is gonna be great! the comedy is great but what made this movie stand out for me is the animation. legos are obviously a simple thing to animate but the added fingerprints, small inconsistencies between pieces and other details makes it so impressive
Batman in this movie was so good that they even made his own LEGO Batman movie 🧐🍷🔥
To all the folks who put their two cents into perfectly crystallizing what it's like to "play" with imaginative toys, AMAZING WORK!!!!
Purity of imagination indeed!
I have come to appreciate the looking backwards cleverness of the story because of the simple fact that children "play" at being adults. Copying the behaviors of adults we see the absurdities of our actions through their eyes.
Honestly Liam Neeson (Good/Bad Cop) should be given an award for how well he played both roles and simultaneously changed voices even though he was requested to record at two different times.
Ignoring how much I love the movie (great reaction too!) - can we just take a moment to acknowledge BATMAN ON THE MILLENNIUM FALCON WITH HAN, CHEWIE, AND LANDO?! That'll never happen again.
It’s so cool!!!
I love that Chris prat is so accomplished. He has 3 Lego figurines. Emmet, star lord, and jurassic world
I love that they got all these epic actors to do some of the voices. I mean, come on! Liam Neeson? MORGAN FREEMAN? Awesome. 😁
Chris Pratt, and Elizabeth Banks, too!
@@morganspider-manmarvelfan6110 Will Ferrell, Charlie Day, Jonah Hill, Will arnett, Channing Tatum, and Nick Offerman as well😂
@@BlackWolf728 Dave Franco, Keegan-Michael Key, Will Forte, Jorma Taccone, Cobie Smulders, and even had Billy Dee Williams reprise his role as Lando in the Millennium Falcon scene on top of that.
Oh my gosh, is this the “everything is awesome” movie? 😂 Dang, I can’t wait for this! Haha
27:40
Funny thing about that.....there's a good reason why she doesn't want to sing it, and it's been revealed near the ending of the sequel movie.
phil lord and chris miller really did something special with this movie instead of doing a well known forumla of movie
they are also responsible for the spdierverse movie :)
lego could have made a standard boring movie with a plot everybody knows by heart but the makers did create something unique.
everything is made out of lego pieces which is insane to build and animate and the message of the story is really cool.
I wish the lego games would be 100% be made out of lego aswell.
The best piece of trivia is that the word “Lego” is NEVER spoken by any of the characters
As a LEGO fanatic growing up, I NEVER expected this movie to be as great as it is. The surprise reveal of the real world shook me. That father and son interaction nearly drove me to tears.
Bruh, I saw this movie in theaters and I just remember that we were all like "WHATTTTT?!?!?" and the place was packeddd
I love this movie so much! The animation and texturing are so well done, the story is genius, also the dialogue and delivery is hilarious. It is a great family movie that kids and adults can both find genuinely entertaining. Let's face it you would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't messed with Legos at some point in their lives, they are timeless, so it almost feels nostalgic as well as still being modern at the same time. If I had to sum up this movie, I would say ...
🎶EVERYTHING IS AWESOOOME!🎶 😄👍
This is why Disney fired Phil Lord and Chris Miller from SOLO
Because they have a mind of their own
Love this movie. Could have easily been just a souless cash grab but it ended up being so funny & charming.
I'd highly recommend the 2003 movie Holes, staring Shia LaBeouf & Sigourney Weaver (amongst others).
I know your not realy the biggest fans of Disney due to personal reasons but the story is so good (and at times surprisingly dark/gritty for a kids movie) & I think it'd be interesting for you to react to a live action Disney film, which I don't think you've done before on the channel outside of Enchanted.
If both you guys have already watched it recently though that's ok, I just thought I should give it a shot because it's such a well done yet seemly forgotten classic &, in my opinion, is one of the most unique movies to ever come out of that studio.
Another recommendation (if you wanna take a break from the kids stuff) is Big Fish by Tim Burton staring Ewan McGregor & Albert Finney.
I concur with the Holes suggestion.
Yes to Holes. Love that movie!
Thanks 😊. Hopefully they'll give it a chance. Maybe at some point they could do a live action kids movie poll, that way they wouldn't have to "cheat" like they did with Enchanted lol.
Read the Original Book Holes, and watched the film, loved both.
@@PharaohTrebilClef Once I read it back to front at least 3-5 times in one day during school
sorry, front to back
One of my favorite animated movies and comedy films ever! I had low expectations but when my family rented it I was blown away by how good it was!
The fact that Emmett moves in the real world, but the story is by the kid (Finn), always makes me wonder whose story it really is.
This is a classic. And I checked, the numbers in master builder vision are real LEGO piece numbers
“It’s like the “Let It Go” of my generation” haha that’s the best way to sum up that song 😂
Lol, they came out the same year
I love the ridiculous amount of detail in the lego movies, my favourite being the finger print marks that show up a lot in the second one.
That’s INSANE!!!
@@whitenoisereacts I know, I freaked out when I noticed it, it’s pretty subtle but I think it makes it, the time, effort and care taken with detail in these movies is ridiculous. And they gifted the world with the best Batman 😂
I’m looking forward to you doing the sequel.
Lego Batman is the closest to Michael Keaton’s version in humor than any other.

Who always pays their taxes?
28:51 That Team America: World Police reference went way over your heads.
Thank you so much for this, this is a true staple to cinema and legos, I love this film!
6:54 I think they are refering to "If you build it they will come" from Field of Dreams. I'm probably wrong tho.
Lego Bionicle was amazing when I was a kid, had all the sets, movies, games. Absolutely loved it
I remember 2014, when it came in theaters and McDonald’s happy meals had a literal cup of it. It even became a Blu Ray hit.
I love this movie so much, great to see Nine Tails watching it for the first time! :D The comedy is rapid-fire and just doesn't stop, I always use subtitles for movies but I was glad I caught everything my first time seeing it because of them lmao
I wouldn't call the LEGO Movie 'underated'. It's very beloved, critically acclaimed, made tons of money, and was very popular. Definitely not underrated.
Ya I don't think people know what that word means anymore lol 😂
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie
And man, it did make me cry in the end... The message it gives is quite amazing.
writing for lego games and movies has always been hilarious and tonnes of fun, this movie just brought it into the mainstream
What I like about your reactions is that you don’t give a friend or partner info on a movie or show and just let the other person experience it for themselves.
This movie is really great. It changed how I saw the way people could do Lego animations.
The Falcon showing up was the best part IMO.
This movie is pure genius. I thought it was great the first time i watched, when it came out, and then watched it again once it was out for sale. There's an entirely secondary subtext to the whole thing that i didn't catch the first time. Love it. Annual must watch.
I remember watching this release week, i was like 10 and my mom surprised me and took me to it after school, that was a good day.
This movie’s animation is what inspired my love for LEGOs
everything 's awesome blessed be
i personally LOVE the second movie too, even though it didn’t do as well. it has the same humor and comedic timing and animation style. it is a musical which is pretty hit or miss, but the plot is so funny and clever, it utilizes the “real world” a lot more and is super meta. i definitely recommend giving it a shot
I remember taking my little niece to this in theaters and I enjoyed it a lot for a teenager. I was pleasantly surprised!
One of my fav animated movies and such an amazing surprise! I don’t have much expectations which made it so much better! The Lego Batman one is one of my fav Batman movies too 😂
19:52 This was improvised and was really Morgan Freeman trying to figure out his line changes while the mic was still recording. They decided to keep it anyway.
Wow
I met the concept artist who drew the unicorn on fire to pitch the film and he had no idea they would actually keep it until he saw the film
If Marc Webb doesn't return for TASM3
Sony should let PHIL LORD and CHRIS MILLER direct and produce it
They could save the movie from AVI ARAD, just like they did with SPIDER-VERSE
#LordMiller4TASM
Yoooooo finally 🖤love this movie and love you guys!
Gotta be honest
I cried when he jumped to the void
at that time the double couch one killed me, literally, i thought about it for weeekssssssssss lol
The movie is so much fun and that father and son ending is so emotional.
definitely worth watching 21 and 22 jump street after this. Same directors and similar meta humor. Great directors! Sad their star wars film never materialized
What really sets this movie and the sequel apart from others similar to it is that it really respects that the plastic figures and bits behave as in reality, that they don't just bend willy-nilly. And every piece of lego in this movie, as far as I understand it are only real pieces (as in, not made up to fit the movie, but actually produced for actual sets). Most of the contraptions are even designed by actual LEGO set designers. It's a love story in a way to LEGO. And a pretty darn funny movie as well.
Please do ALL the Lego movies. They're all so good.
Last time I looked there was like 82 legos for every person on the planet.
Emmet is my favorite character, he is such a sweet and nice guy and I can say that Emmet probably gets the most physical and mental abuse out of all the characters in both movies. poor guy gets taken for granted even after saving his communist city from a OCD freak president, I just wanna give this poor construction worker a hug.
SPACESHIP!!! 😂
James: * talking about the sponsor* drinks all have european names"
me: * evil laughs in italian*
This movie was just one long ad for legos and I’m not upset about that. Perfect Marketing. I agree, the animation is amazing, it’s so easy to forget that they aren’t doing stop motion with real legos. This will always be one of my favorites 😄
Also, Lego Batman is the best. 😂
The reveal of Will Ferrel near the end as the dad was genius.
God, I had the lego spaceship set in the 80s, most of my friends did too. Every single figure's helmet was cracked like that! XD
We celebrated two birthdays at LEGOLAND for two days...INCREDIBLE!!!👍👍👍👍😍😍😍😍
One of my favorite random facts about this movie is when Emmet says "You.............." When he first sees Wildstyle, they cut it short because Chris Pratt actually did it for even longer
13:55 Legos are for EVERYONE!
this is basically the matrix
40:20 "he's the hero you deserve"'- *Batman*
I thought after that line he was gonna say "Not the Hero you need" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just love James' eyebrows!
Liking this vid before watching it - reactions to this movie are a rare treasure :)
This movie is everything I could have hoped it to be, and what really tops it off is the story *feels* like it could have been something I or any other kid came up with when playing with Lego at that age.
The "Everything is Awesome" song has stuck inside my brain since 2014
“The Let It Go of my generation” Bruh, those movies came out less than 3 months apart. The trailer for LEGO Movie played at Frozen, lol
It felt like it applied to tweens lol
Love the way you guys break down animation! Please react to Wolfwalkers!!!
this is genuinely such a good movie
would love to see you watch the second one. i think its a good sequal. this is such a good movie.
Going up on Patreon next week
PLEASE WATCH ALL THE OTHER LEGO MOVIES!! 🤩😆
Underrated? It is one of the most appreciated animated films out there.
I have never met a person who, after seeing this movie for the first time, didn't say, "That movie was WAAAAAY better than it had any right to be!" , or something to that effect. Myself included. LOL 🤣
To answer some lego stuff, most lego fans definitely DON'T glue their lego pieces together, so that was appropriately evil for lord business lol. In fact, I think most fans would see that as a crime, but it certainly can be useful in certain situations. For example, any of those massive brick-built statues you see at Legoland or lego stores are glued together, as you wouldn't really want it shattering into a million pieces.
And I think Ninetailedbrush was talking about "illegal building techniques" which are a real thing that usually official sets won't incorporate. an illegal technique is anything that puts stress on the pieces over time, so attaching something in a way that will bend or stretch out a piece over time would be an example of that. Again, official sets won't do it (though there are exceptions), but many fan-made builds do use the techniques, just cause it can lead to cool results (might make their creation look better). Also, It was mentioned by James, but yes, the numbers you see around the pieces whenever a master builder character is building are the part numbers for those respective pieces.
This film is FAR from underrated. It's one of the most popular animated films ever.
You guys should totally watch ninjago aswell! It's the funniest Lego movie ever!!
this story continues in lego movie 2 and oh boy i love that movie
"The Let it Go of my generation"
Frozen and LEGO Movie being released within a year of each other be like lol
"DAAARKNESS!!" ("It's about how I'm an orphan!") "NOOO PARENTS!!"
So dark but so hilarious x'D
Easy to miss the next two lines of Batman’s song, but they go like
“GOOD THING I’M RICH!”
“MONEY MAKES IT BETTER!!”
"This is the Let It Go of my generation." My brother in Christ, they came out like a year apart.
But yes, Everything is Awesome crushes Let It Go.
I don't know if this has been mentioned before (and I don't feel like reading 200+ comments to find out) but the word "LEGO" is never said by any of the characters. Obviously the Title and every individual piece has the "LEGO" in text form, but nobody actually says the word, even in the live action segments. Will Farrell's character even goes out of his way to say, "it's a highly sophisticated, interlocking, brick system."
And you will find that this is true for the other films for this franchise. It's basically a LEGO Commercial without advertising itself as such. I think it works really well because it prioritized it's stories and characters while organically capturing the experience and essence of playing with LEGO.
