when you realize the fact that, protecting Mikasa, wrapping the scarf around & asking her to come home & being friends with Armin are the only things Eren has done out of complete free will. Cause starting from the moment under the tree where Eren gets the "see you later, Eren" dream for the first time, everything followed a set path. And this is why Mikasa & Armin are the most precious people to him. Literally his freedom.
It does feel cheap though, because he clearly never seemed aware about 99% of the plot, and the voice actors as well as the anime have created a false tone where he does seem unaware of the future, but they couldn't know. Ultimately, if they kne:w he would have been more of a Bertholt and less of an Eren with a topping of mystery.
@@m4r_art if eren already knew everything then why did he sound naive in his own internal monologues? i don't buy it... this ending is stupid and retcons the whole story into irrelevance.
@@michaelcarnevale5620 I think the author needs to grow personally to release better works, he is fairly young to release a major work, also have to take into account his culture and worldview, I entirely agree there are more scholar ways to end a series like Attack on Titan, but after 12 years I suppose it was killing the dude's creativity at this point. To me a better plot would have been more of a psychological battle between Zeke's view vs. Eren view... I believe he (Zeke) was cheaply sacrificed to please Levi acrobatics. Also Reiner was sent to the background with literally no value by the end. Armin also is kind of a letdown, and pushing the narrative over on Mikasa I think was not the way to go since this plotline by itself killed the ending. I was hoping for a major "Now: You're free ending panel" with a major reveal panel before that explaining whether Historia's child is Eren's, but I guess the author didn't care lol :D
When you realize that Krueger said that Attack Titan has fought for freedom throughut the generations. But, it was never mentioned ‘whose freedom’. From Ch. 139, it was clear it’s meant to be the Ymir’s freedom. Attack Titan was assigned specifically to find a way to free Ymir. Another interesting thing is what Krueger said to Grisha in Ch. 89, telling Grisha to ‘have a family, see somebody, your wife, your sons, and the people of the town. Love everybody within the walls. If you can’t do that, everything will happen again”. Now, we could interpret what Krueger says as the referring to how to end the curse. The Attack Titan needs to find someone that loves him, and somehow, finds the will to kill him out of love. And finally, that person is Mikasa.
this is so on point. and every single retard complaining about 139 without properly getting facts straight about how concept of love is so powerful in aot.
This is a true literary classic and should win awards for it's story. The author had a very complicated story to resolve in chapter 139 and did the best job possible to tie everything together. I just wish that somehow Eren could have lived and married Mikasa.

How many times does eren have to say he's free before everyone stops calling him a slave? He's literally said it like 6 times in the last thirty chapters
You know the moment eren told armin that he didn't want to die, i was in tears, because after all of the destruction and the unforgiveable sins he committed, he still wishes for a life in which he's by his childhood friends side just having a happy normal life, but we all know it was impossible..
That was such an intense scene. He showed that even after all he did he was still a human capable of love and fear of death. Some people out here say he was a simp. Man!
Yeah I like that bit. Lots of martyrs in anime pretty much accepted their sacrifice but eren admitting he wanted to live and be with Mikasa is really human.
I acc didn't understand why ymir needed Mikasa help but with the way u put it, it makes sense. For My defense tho I didn't see ymir loving fritz coming Stockholm syndrome or not
Wrong. Mikasa was a fucking slave to eren all of eren's life. If by any chance eren never wanted her to kill him, she wouldn't have done that even if her own life was on stake.
I liked seeing gabi and falco with levi. After spending his whole life protecting others (Erwin, Hange, Eren, etc.) its nice to see other people finally looking after Levi.
And the fact that eren brought freedom to his people in two ways the first being the walls and getting his people on even plain ground as every one else
The moment Eren screamed that he didn't want Mikasa to end up with anyone else hit hard to me. His facial expression and the way he said made me remember the Eren we had in Season 1 and to see how much he changed and what caused him to change is heartbreaking.
About Mikasa, what i got is that her "talk" with Eren was that "dream" she had in 138, the headaches were caused by Eren trying to erase those memories but couldn't since Mikasa is an Ackerman. Time in paths is different like zeke said, so my guess is that "dream" wasn't a dream, it was Eren spending four years with Mikasa, that was what he was wishing for, he did get to spend some time with her and im glad for that, that's why at the end Mikasa could see those memories and gain the strength to kill Eren, and once killed that's why she kissed him, so there was no true self resisting, it was just her Ackerman blood stopping the founder powers.
I always thought that since ackerman's memories can not be erased, she always had the memory pushing through that Eren needed to die, and she had to be the one to do it. Her headaches were her brain rejecting the memory that was given to her. Whenever she would remember what Eren told her, that she had to kill him, her brain would supress it, and ache for doing so. It explains why her head hurt whenever she thought about Eren and the future and her head was close to bursting when the memory finally came through. Her brain couldn't force it down anymore.
I am not sure if i recall it correctly, but Mikasa had Eldian father and Ackermann mother? If that is true, maybe eren could interfere with her memories but Ackermann bloodline resists cousing all that pain - but i cannot recall if that is a fact
I thought that that was when he was narrating to Annie. But that makes more sense as maybe he is going to be know as the killer of Erin and is explaining the back story.

To be honest I actually liked that Eren complained that he couldn't be with Mikasa romantically and that he couldn't be with all their friends in the end. Some people didn't care much for that response, but for me I like the fact that the mc is kicking and screaming that they have to sacrifice themselves and lose the one thing they wanted most in order to save others instead of just peacefully accepting that it's the end of the road for them and with nothing more to say on their fate.
I think it’s a more realistic response to knowing you’re gonna die, I can’t speak for everyone but I’d probably be kicking and screaming if I found out I was as gonna die.
Same, it was a very realistic reaction from a 19 year old boy who had the weight of saving the whole world on his shoulders and who was never able to confess to the girl they loved when all they ever wanted was to be with her, and on top of that their best friend brought up the idea of the girl being with someone else. I think we’d all react the same way Eren did if we were in his position
Yup, it makes sense in the case for Eren. Though, at first, it was a shock for me as it gave me a lot of mixed feelings, but after seeing it Eren's perspective, I can see that his response makes total sense.
Yeah. It really does make sense, especially in this universe, where everyone does have realistic reactions to death. All those soldiers and recruits Levi's original Squad, Mike Zacharias, Marlowe, Bertolt, even gigachad Erwin Smith, clearly showed some form of apprehension, or fear at their oncoming deaths, some more than others, even when they were grown, trained soldiers too. I think people were looking for a way too unrealistic ending, plus all the symbolism makes the story come full circle. Sure there are a few things missing, like why the worm disappeared, why the 145(or something) kings didn’t want to get rid of the Titans. And a few others. The bitch about it is people who didn’t like the ending believe he never had the freedom to give up in the first place. So depending upon interpretation, you’ll either love it or hate it.
Oh yes he can be free after genociding 80% of the population and then he started an entire fascist cult around his ideas who took over the government and about to wipe out and kill the rest of that population of people. So thank you so much thank you so much Eren you screwed up the world much worse than you left it the only difference that you made is now everyone's on equal footing no more Titans.
I felt sad when Mikasa was talking to Eren's grave, she loved him but had to kill him and will never see him. Edit: I got 780+ Likes, I think this is the first time! Thanks for the likes :)
The entire point of AoT was that there was no real villain, just different views and agendas people were fighting for. That's why Eren chose to become the main villain to unite everyone together by fighting the common enemy. Even tho he knew that the humanity will eventually do the same thing with wars continuing over and over, at least he wanted for his friends to live a peaceful life in the "time of piece". The ending credits also showed that what he saw was true, the human nature would always find a way to make war and life will always find its meaning. Therefore Eren is the real hero, well, an antihero and one of the most interesting characters ever written.
Who are you saying 'fight, fight' to? Do you want to say it to the citizens? Or are you telling it to yourself? That makes you look like a crazy person, doesn't it?
I think the reason why Eren was able to alter Mikasa's memory was because the Ackermans are not immune, but highly resistant to mind control. That's why she started to recall the dialogue with Eren way before everyone else. She was breaking the conditioning, while everyone else had to wait for Eren to die. Also, I liked the ending.
I agree and also I think she got the vision the moment she cut Eren's head off which is a part of why she kissed his severed head right after. If she would have gotten the vision of them together before she cut his off off then I dont think she would have had the strength to kill him.
also Ymir really wanted her to get that vision, so Mikasa would have the strength to kill Eren and set Ymir free from her love for King Fritz. That's why she's smiling in the background when Mikasa kissed Eren.
@@giuseppepiuma1965 I think you’re right. That would make sense because how else would she know he was in there. Also maybe she got the memory before Eren died and before everyone else because she’s an Ackerman
In the final arc, Seeing Mikasa get torn apart in the face of her moral duty as an ally to humanity & a comrade to her friends clash with her love for Eren in a simpler time, less violent times. What a great character. Became my no. 1 favorite in the series. And the ending connecting everything back to ch 1. I got emotional seeing Mikasa and Eren's grave under that tree up the hill on Eren's death anniversary and Mikasa saying her final thank you and a goodbye exactly 13 years after the story started under that same tree in ch 1.
Mikasa is less of a character and more of a glorified extension of Eren's POV. Her entire personality is reactive to whatever Eren is doing at any given point.
@@eertikrux666 well if you want to get into the ugly specifics, free will has been better described "free won't". The ability to select between choices, is really just the ability to eliminate bad options. Actually there's a lot of research behind that too. Basically what your brain is constantly trying to do is predict what the rest of the brain will decide to do at any given time, and then look at those various predictions and suppress certain ones. Mikasa's headaches were due to Eren trying to give her that peaceful memory of that alternate life together. She was resistant to that ability but Eren kept trying to not overwrite her memory, but give her that new one.
Can I ask you one thing please? I had almost the same interpretation, but it was a little weird to me that he started giving her those new memories already in the first parts of the story, how would she have reacted if it worked before? Or maybe Eren already saw her getting those memories in that specific moment?

My interpretation of Mikasa’s headaches is that Eren is trying to erase her memories, but is unsuccessful due to her Ackerman blood. The “dream” Mikasa had in ch 138 was an interaction she had with Eren in the Paths that she recalled. That’s probably how she knew Eren was in the mouth
@@dyingwaffle95 My personal take is that those headaches are her PTSD manifested. We see them happen every time someone important for her gets taken away and we know that she started getting them after the death of her parents. I'm happy with the ending, some of those panels were just incredible The levi page and the shot of mikasa overlooking shiganshina without the walls were incredible
It was crazy you could still see the outlines of where the walls were. It's nice to know no one has to live like that there anymore. And no more Titans. 🙌🏼 Damn they can literally just chill now there.
I don't think you managed to understand the significance of the former last panel (the one where Grisha holds Eren saying that he is free). A big theme in the story is freedom, and how the characters fight to get out of their literal cage that are the titan walls. The theme Vogelkäfig heavily taps into this (they are birds stuck In cage, thus not free). The series goes on to mislead us that their goal is to get out of those walls to be free (and later on to defeat their enemies to be free), but in the end we realize why that isn't the case. Despite getting out of the walls and then defeating the marlyans, Eren would never be free. Because he is a slave to the events that have already played out, which he is able give himself as memories due to the attack titan powers. Seeing those memories, he feels forced to keep doing everything exactly according to how it already happened in his memories. So in a sense he has no free will. He is not free. He is in a cage of his own making. By giving himself those memories, he has self fullfillingly compelled his past self to do everything exactly as he has done himself, thus repeating the cycle (which is another big theme in the series). So Grisha holding Eren and saying that he is free, points to the fact that Eren could only really be free in death. Once he is dead, he no longer has to follow in the path of the memories he has given himself from the future. I can see why Isayama decided not to use that panel as the last panel. If that panel was the last panel, then it would put Eren in the middle of the story, with him being the centre of everything that the story tries to tell, and him being the only one in a cage who eventually is freed only in death. But in reality, Isayama is hinting at the fact that absolutely everybody is in that exact same cage, and that they all are slaves to determinism. Which is why the last panel doesn't focus on something limited to only Eren, but instead focuses on the general theme that they are all slaves to determinism. The last panel shows someone finding the very same tree that had started it all. The tree that Ymir went into to become the founding Titan. So the last panel signifies that everything is gonna repeat itself (even if it's in another iteration of the events). People will walk along the same path and do the same things as previously. So they are still slaves to a predetermined ending. There is a cycle of events that keeps on happening over and over, and everybody is just along for the ride. They cannot break the cycle or stop it. They can only move from the beginning of the cycle until the end of it, until the cycle eventually reappears at which point they are on the cycle again. This metaphorical cycle is a representation of all the things that keep on repeating throughout history: genocidal events being one of them. People never learn, they repeat the same patterns and then they end up in the same situations, just in different iterations. And in sense these repeating patterns always happen out of love/hatred. I assume that's why our particular cycle ends when Mikasa puts her love for Eren aside and kills him. Eventually people start loving again however, and with love comes hatred. Thus the cycle begins anew.
Your comment is amazing 👏🏾. I guess the only way to end the cycle was to allow Eren to wipe out 100% of humanity outside the walls. If the Paradis crew (Mikasa,Armin etc) allowed Eren to keep moving foward with the rumbling then the cycle of violence would ended right? Humanity would just start anew with everyone left on the island they could replenish the earth themselves and create a better world and Eren could spend the rest of his days with Mikasa without worrying about enemies.
I am pretty sure the dream in Chapter 138 was Eren talking to Mikasa in the paths. It would be weird if Issayama would show us the conversation between Armin but not the one with Mikasa, since the ending is centered so much about their love. He spent 4 years together with Mikasa in the cabin. Right before Eren died Mikasa said that the table conversation can‘t be their Last time talking, which foreshadowed that there will be something between them before Eren dies. Eren couldn‘t erase memories from her so he could only Talk to her in the very last moment. Them being in the paths would also explain how Mikasa could know , that Eren was in the mouth and she knew that Armin and the others got their memories back, cause Eren can‘t do the same with Mikasa since she is an Ackermann. And we also saw the dream in Chapter 138 from Erens perspective in Chapter 1. We know that Erens dreams were visions of the future. That pretty much confirms that the „dream“ in Chapter 138 was Not an illusion or dream by Mikasa, it was real. As well as Mikasa replying to Eren that she can’t forget him, shows That it was Not just an illussion but communication between them. Eren spent 4 years together with Mikasa in the paths. That means they did confess to each other and the alternative reality that we wanted did Happen for Eren and Mikasa. Issayama was an EreMika shipper after all.
Many people think that Eren has erased makasas memories too because in the final chapter she said "you got your memories back, TOO" and that's confusing. In chapter 138 it seemed like something that could happen if Mikasa gave eren another anwser back then and not like something that actually happened in paths. But I hope you are right.

For example, right before she killed Eren, she started having a headache, and then she remembered Eren meeting with her before she killed him. That's the only reasoning I can think of with that.
yeah i wanted to see the marleyan titan shifters all die.. i wanted to see armin die tbh and lots of others...what if mimasa died with eren that wouldve been nice too.. idk i wanted more death
Getting rid of the Titan powers would never guarantee peace between Eldia and The rest of the world. This is like America abolishing slavery in 1865, just because slavery was abolished didn’t mean that Americans would immediately start treating African Americans equally, you had separate bathrooms for colored people and etc. It will take years for peace to be established between both sides and eventually build a better world, Eren gave Eldia the chance to prosper. Leaving the spine creature as a mystery works perfectly because they will never know what it truly was just like the Big Bang we don’t know what there was before it. In the end this was still a rather fucked up ending since Eren didn’t gain his freedom. If it had ended with world peace that would have been a terrible ending as the concept of world peace is the one thing that even in the real world is impossible to accomplish with all our differences. If he had gone ahead with the rumbling he would not have gained TRUE freedom, freedom built on genocide is not TRUE freedom. Essentially his desire for freedom turned him into a monster. Hopefully in the anime they expand more on this.
Well I bet you isayama took a trip over to America to meet his fans Dan and Dave. Because he's sort of forgot writing a good ending this didn't make anybody cry it just made people pissed off. Just like Dan and Dave thought people would cry over game of thrones kind of fitting that he's a fan of game of thrones and it had a sucky ending.
I love how throughout the series, when people are faced with death, there’s always someone willing to risk their lives to save the other. Even when they think they’re a “devil” or the enemy. Like when Reiner saves Connie, or when Ymir saves Reiner even after getting kidnapped by him and Bertholdt. All of Eren’s friends thought he was the enemy, and even with the whole world against him along with the same uncertainty of the future, he sacrificed his life so the world could have another chance to live
The fact that some says Eren is out of character when he said that he wants Mikasa to love him even he is dead cringes me. There you go folks, the true Eren we wanted to see for a long time. He finally said what he felt all this time.
Its all studio pressured bullshit, Eren never had feelings for Mikasa in a relationship sense, he viewed her as his Sister but the Studio wanted a ship.
Throughout the whole series, the only time Eren shows romantic feelings for Misaka was when she almost kissed him in season 2 before he activated the founding titan power. Even then he moved away and said he would wrap his scarf around her no matter how many times she asked. Outside of that though we got zero hints from him that he loved her at all. Even when he was saying she was brainwashed and followed him to protect him like an Ackerman, he did nothing to show he loved her. I even ask myself why he would say all of that if he was truly in love with her.
It's also the first time you see the old Eren again. Cause he said that in this whiney way, which he didn't allow himself for a long time. That's what Armin pointed out by roasting him that he didn't expect him to say something so pathetic. Eren kept himself from being emotional for so long. But you get to see his real emotions in that scene, which he was ready to share with his best friend.
@@AlanSilva-bu1kp I was expecting any kind of ending except Zeke's plan any kind of ending would have been better if they had just you know gone to war fought a battle any plan would have been better
dude look at armins face when eren talks about Bertolt and the smiling titan...How I took it was that Eren leads the titan to his mom to keep Bertolt alive for Armin later down the line. That's why Armin looked devastated I feel.
I actually like the twist that Ymir was a slave to love rather than a slave to fear. It explains why she related to Eren rather than the royal family. All those loyal to the royal family did so out of fear for them, or loyalty in their blood. Eren had people loyal to him, including Mikasa, because they loved him.
this is unnecessary bloviating to try and make sense of a really stupid plot twist. this fanbase, more than any other i've seen, doesn't even stop to think if the shit happening inside the story makes any sense to begin with
Mikasa is the only character who at no point has seen herself as some hero, someone who has to do something "great" even though she has saved many and has a lot of power. She Rather acknowledged her own selfish-ness the earliest in the story how there r only few people she can care about way before anyone else in the story. And yet inspite of that has always cared and protected even enemy characters, like when she hesitated to chop off Reiner & bertholtd's heads because she thought of them as comrades and right after that she spares Ymir at historia's plea even though eren was still in danger, always being the one to make a choice that ends up pushing her family further from her. She even understood how Erwin would've been the better option for humanity in the end giving up saving Armin, something that floch puts in her face and she's taken aback by. She does everything she can to protect what's infront of her and also has the ability to understand others beyond just herself. And how this all lead to the end of attack on titan is very interesting. Mikasa is the Reluctant Helos of this story.
@@biomutarist6832 yeah that is an interesting scene....cause not only does she save Gabi there but she also saves Kaya from losing her innocence. Mikasa would know all about having to pick up the knife to kill. And how you cannot come back from crossing that line.
Mad respect for Eren, he didn't want to die yet he followed through with his plan and essentially lost his sanity while doing it. I personally loved the ending it may not have given us everything, but it gave us enough.
@@ohsupdom Ok, don't get me wrong AOT is the best anime/manga series to date to me, but that ending was not great at all. First off, when did Eren even fall in love with Mikasa? Because I’m still trying to figure it out. Ymir loving Fritz make Zero sense. Eren’s whole Chad character being an act, and him acting like a virgin in this chapter is kinda anticlimactic to me. “Thank you for turning yourself into a mass murderer for our sake”, I hope this was supposed to be dark humor, but this was totally out of character for Armin who was against killing the whole series.
This ending is so much depressing than anything, now that we're waiting for the final half of the entire series animated, I can't tell you what we about to feel for the rest of our history
Eren and Mikasa loved each other so much in the end and they never got their chance. When he broke down in front of Armin i felt that. " I DONT WANT HER TO FIND ANOTHER MAN " 😭😭😭😭♥️
So are we just going to ignore the fact that Mikasa literally walked from one end of the continent back to Paradis which is an island to bury Eren. I mean did she swim back or something cuz Rumbling destroyed all ships I think. 😂
I just finished the aot manga. It was truly beautiful. I cried. It was the perfect end honestly. I can see why some people didn't like it though. But that ending was perfect. It had to be that way. I honestly can't wait for the anime. I'm really excited hoss. Like wow. I'm glad I read it. I really am.
You know I've been thinking about Eren's confession about Mikasa. I feel like there's more to it than it seems. It was very childish in nature (like a tantrum of a child that didn't understand the concept of sharing). And I think Isayama did that on purpose. Everything, from "dying" to save Armin from Santa Titan to getting his head chopped off, everything that ruined his childhood and forced him to grow up was erased when the Power of the Titans stopped existing. Eren could be a kid again (even tho he's 19). That seemingly out-of-character way of confessing his feelings was really a side of him he couldn't show for a long long time. A side that excitedly wanted to join the Scouts; a side that reprimanded Hannes for drinking of the job. That confession was........it was Eren's way of finally being free.... Also, some ppl think that Mikasa's headaches are Eren trying to erase memories from her, but, of course, it fails.
I guess he was extremely tired and broke up after all that shit he gone through...a slave to the Attack Titan..to Ymir.. He was seen as a devil and murderer from all the world and especially from his best friend...He wanted to show him that in the inside he stills a good and a normal person, that he still cares about them and he still can love too ..I think he just broke up in the end really bad He wasn't free at all unfortunately... that's why he didn't want to die without enjoying the freedom he wanted all along, to be able to do what he really wanted, to love and to be with his friends it's really some dark sad shit
@@little_nightfury1762 Ya he was trying to enjoy that freedom but only as memories with Mikasa...then with Armin.... enjoying the Volcano and the see and talking to Armin with an open heart. But memories aren't real....so his freedom wasn't real
I understand everyone will have different opinions on how this show ended but one thing is certain it was a hell of a ride! I’m grateful I got to see the end of this master piece I was 20 when it came out.
@@robertsantamaria33 dude, the revelations in this manga changed me as a person. That's what I love about it. There's the me who didn't know, and the one that does. And I am happy I got an ending at all, with the whole Beserk thing.
i wont forget this masterpiece ever, these are the things which is why i , usually a depressed pessimistic man, cherish life sometimes. thank you isayama, your story has def changed a lot of minds of this world.
I understand Mikasa's headaches. Eren had a talk with everyone in the past and then erased their memories. But with Mikasa, he couldnt erase them so he shared what he wanted to share with her at the end, instead of showing it in the past and then erasing it. And that's is why her headaches are the most intense in Ch 138. And being so Intense Mikasa gives in "I can't take this anymore", this along with Mikasa's own desire to go home let's her experience the dream that Eren was dreaming & wanted to share with her. Also Mikasa had a severe headache in paths when child eren with closed eyes appears and this headache comes along with a vision of eren under the tree. That is cause the actual eren since the rumbling had started had escaped to this dream of home with Mikasa that he had created in PATHS to share with Mikasa and stayed there till the very end until Mikasa came to him. This also happened in trost arc if you remember, where Eren escaped to his home- his mom, dad & Mikasa and his Titan went on autopilot giving Mikasa that scar on her face. Now home was just Mikasa. & Mikasa's headaches in the past seasons are a result of Eren using his FT powers to change certain things in the world from the future. The first time Mikasa had a headache it was after Carla's death cause that is where it all started. Everything before Carla's death is unrelated to any paths shit.
I agree with what you said about Eren sharing what he wanted/needed to share with Mikasa in the end because he couldn’t erase her memories. I guess he took her to the paths and, I don’t know, maybe they lived through his four years of life span there. After all, time on paths passes differently.
@@user-ze6gj1oq4o I don’t think Eren tried to talk to Levi... Maybe he didn’t believe Levi would accept his arguments. Levi’s closure was seeing his dead comrades at the end.
That fact that Eren just wanted a happy ending and tried to run away with Mikasa, depresses me. He knew what he had to and it wasn't fair. Eren was my favorite character and Ill probably never get over this LMFAO. I miss him.
@@makeouthaven maybe Eren should had tell her how he actually feels instead of viewing her has an annoying step sister well then I want to sing this song : Sweet home Alabama XD
My problem with this story is that Eren never really showed any romantic approaches to Mikasa. They shared a sibling relationship growing up; in fact, I saw him more seeing Mikasa as being overprotective. He never even tried taking her out on a date or just hang out, just the two of them. You have a better chance convincing me he loves Armin more than Mikasa because of how often they reflect back to Armin and Eren spending time together about the book theorizing the outside world, and Eren and Armin just talking about things whereas Mikasa is really quiet and almost have no input in conversations. It was really one-sided too, with Mikasa always putting everyone's safety on the line just to save Eren over and over such as instinctively defending Eren against Connie's comment after Sasha's death, and even going back to season 1 and assuring Levi that Eren is not dead and is in the mouth of Annie's titan. Heck, she held out for so long even when 80% of the human population is decimated and only then decided, alas, on Falco's back that she will take Eren down. The fact is, Mikasa was always worried about Eren's wellbeing and that's shown in her actions by always putting herself and others on the line to save Eren. But aside from the scarf wrapped around Mikasa's neck, I have not seen an incident where Eren tries to make Mikasa happy if he loves her. He's always concentrated about improving the Eldian's situation even before when the story got so big too and most importantly; his revenge against the titans for his mom's death.
you deserve more upvote but all these clowns to busy drooling over eremika. I really don't understand the appeal of this ship. It's too one sided and a last minute semi-confession in the form of a tantrum is so off putting. Made me hate that eremika ship even more.
i totally agree with the fact that eren couldve put more effort in which would eventually lead to their happy ending, but there is also the fact that eren inherited the attack titan which was the titan created to fight for freedom. with that being said, eren could also see into the future. my theory is that eren purposely didnt make a move on mikasa because of what he saw in the future. we saw at the end of the manga the scene where it showed the two alone. (i think it was the last chapter) this is what would’ve happened if mikasa had confessed her feelings to him, or if eren confessed. as much as this scene is happy and cute, this would not have solved the war between marley and paradis, and would not have given freedom to the eldians (which is all eren wanted). eren knew that he couldnt be with mikasa so he did everything he could to try not to fall for her, or make it seem like he did. she was the only key to ending the curse, which was to kill eren. the founder, ymir was a slave to love which is why the titan curse went on for 2000 years. mikasa killed the one she loved, which freed ymir. if they ended up together, none of the ending wouldve happened, and the eldians would not have the freedom eren wanted for them. i think this is also the reason why he confessed his feelings for her when she wasnt there to hear (yeah it’s sad she never got to hear). so basically what i’m saying is that he did everything he did to save humanity (or what’s left of it) and his friends, and especially mikasa. but man i would’ve killed to see them get married lol. (also this is just what i took from the story feel free to disagree)
Chapter 1, Ep 1. Eren cries because his future self just gave him a dream about eveerrryythhiiinggg that happened and Eren wakes up crying.. hence the dream he had too
This ending was just really hard to take, it made sense with the final message but from the beginning I felt that Eren had been a bit off, just think of it, every time there was a problem, he was basically the only solution for Eldia, one way or another, every time there was an enemy, he was their target, and every time he had to give himself up for the betterment of Eldia. I'm still surprised that his friends were caught off guard by his extremism, just what did they think was going to happen when they constantly asked him to become the monster, that he was just going to go back to being the "innocent" child? Again because of the time weirdness, it basically meant that from the moment he was chosen to be a Titan Shifter, Eren was slagged. I really liked how AOT had Eren break in a way, every time the glass cracked a bit more, the death of his friends and comrades during Trost, his mom in Shiganshina, his guards during the forest op, and finally the betrayals of Annie, Bertholdt, and Reiner, and more. Eren was human until the end, a flawed being that had to make a choice that would decide the fate of a world that hated him and his people and friends.
It symbolises him since in the first season he said “do you want to be a bird inside or outside its cage?” And then he became a free person so it symbolises him being free
I enjoyed this ending. As a writer myself I appreciate the difficulty in finding a satisfying ending. This was a solid ending that focused on the main characters specifically rather than worrying so much with answering every question you might have. I believe our author purposefully left those unanswered questions to further encourage his audience to engage with his work.
exactly!!!!! its like creating songs, songwriters never explained the meaning behind their songs, it depends on the listener how they will interpret the song... giving the listener or audience freedom on how they will going to feel about that certain song...
when you realize the fact that, protecting Mikasa, wrapping the scarf around & asking her to come home & being friends with Armin are the only things Eren has done out of complete free will. Cause starting from the moment under the tree where Eren gets the "see you later, Eren" dream for the first time, everything followed a set path. And this is why Mikasa & Armin are the most precious people to him. Literally his freedom.
In the immortal words of Ling” They were the only part of you, you chose.”
The fact that he knows he is doomed from the start adds an extra layer of tragedy to his character

I guess that explains Mikasa's headaches, Eren messed with her memories but since she's an Ackermann she kind of "struggled" to remember what happened
That doesn’t make sense and should’ve never been the case. That is a plot hole, You could argue, through a headcanon might I add, that they were resistant not immune. @@MindtalesAtYT first thing I did
It's just crazy how different it looks
@@dannyfuze bruh okay now I gotta check it out, thanks for informing me tho:))
@@Young_Dab look up Nordic mythology and Ragnarok. That's what attack on titans humanity ending cycle is based on.

The whole Mikasa getting her memories erased confused me at first as well, but maybe that's where her headaches stem from? For example, right before she killed Eren, she started having a headache, and then she remembered Eren meeting with her before she killed him. That's the only reasoning I can think of with that.
Me excited to see a brutal ending where many important characters die*

That's why he didn't understand Mikasa's feelings for him when they were compared to Hitch and Marlowe huh?
Its all studio pressured bullshit, Eren never had feelings for Mikasa in a relationship sense, he viewed her as his Sister but the Studio wanted a ship.
@@richierifle2990 lmao he basically said to her " I'm not your brother or your son "

13 years is more than enough to become a hero
I actually like the twist that Ymir was a slave to love rather than a slave to fear.
It explains why she related to Eren rather than the royal family. All those loyal to the royal family did so out of fear for them, or loyalty in their blood. Eren had people loyal to him, including Mikasa, because they loved him.

Reluctant hero? What's a helos
That's some really interesting insight
She also protected Gabi from vengeful Kaya, pulled the girl to her chest even.

Deep down Armin understands just as well as Eren that neither of them really had a choice
I honestly love the way Eren confessed because it reminded me of season one Eren and we saw the real Eren from that confession
@@jungkookiemochi2281 EXACTLY! I thought the same too! That confession is great on multiple levels!
I guess he was extremely tired and broke up after all that shit he gone through...a slave to the Attack Titan..to Ymir.. I was 18 when the show came out, I'm now 31. What a hell of a ride.

I can't be the only one wanting to know what Eren said to Jean. That boy was combing his hair for "somebody". 😂
"For all the girls that open the history book"
"BE GOOD TO YOUR MOTHER JEAN BOY!!!" ~ Eren to Jean, probably
My thoughts exactly!
you deserve more upvote but all these clowns to busy drooling over eremika. I really don't understand the appeal of this ship. It's too one sided and a last minute semi-confession in the form of a tantrum is so off putting. Made me hate that eremika ship even more.
@@minorka2 big facts. Little rushed and sloppy, but that’s how the story was written and therefore that’s what’s canon
It's my opinion: for kid eren, he got no feelings for mikasa but when he grew older, he got feelings fro mikasa.
i totally agree with the fact that eren couldve put more effort in which would eventually lead to their happy ending, but there is also the fact that eren inherited the attack titan which was the titan created to fight for freedom. with that being said, eren could also see into the future. my theory is that eren purposely didnt make a move on mikasa because of what he saw in the future. we saw at the end of the manga the scene where it showed the two alone.
