    I think you should drop the idea of masculine and feminine things. Sometimes a girl lounges around in basketball short and a t-shirt cause it’s comfy. Doesn’t mean that you are trying to be masculine. I steal my husbands clothes all the time because it’s just comfy, doesn’t mean that I secretly want be a man.

      True! People need to understand that liking or seeking out things that aren’t common for your sex doesn’t make you trans! For fighting so hard against “gender norms” people are further reinforcing the idea that looking/acting/thinking a certain way means you just alter your body.

    • @ALinn-vr3nl
      @ALinn-vr3nl Год назад

      Exactly. It is not surprising that people who end up identifying as "trans" or "cis" often have strongly held views about sex role behavior.
      Sex roles are antiquated patriarchal social constructs to support male domination over women, that are unfortunately being promoted and brought back by trans-identified people.
      "Feminine" actually means "of the female animal." That means anything that women are biologically capapable of: exceling at STEM, sports, fashion, domesticity, able to commit murder. "Masculine" means all the same things.
      It's so important that we reject the sex stereotypes for both sexes. These stereotypes, as with all stereotypes, are limiting, constraining, and dehumanizing.
      Far more fulfilling to strive to be a whole human being, unlimited by sex stereotypes.

      Exactly you're a woman! Nothing will change that- even having had taken testosterone or whatever. You're a woman. I lounge in my husband's boxer shorts all the time as it's comfortable. LOL I remember when wearing boxer shorts for girls was all the rage in the 80's. Poor kids now are so OBSESSED with what's male or female - it's insane.

    Wearing a t shirt and basketball shorts does not equal masculinity baby. Breast size DEFINITELY doesn't either. Wearing make up, dressing in pink, getting your nails done...does not equal femininity. It's little things like that, that people should pay attention to. The smallest thoughts can balloon into giant issues that don't actually exist. Much love

    Hey Alia, thank you for sharing your story, I've seen your story just about everywhere on the internet, especially on snapchat! I'm glad that you're doing well in life.
    One thing I have seen in many detransition videos, is that women are not so happy with their voice, and some feeling like it has been 'ruined' by testosterone; and yet, their voices aren't deep or masculine in my opinion. I am a cis woman, with a naturally low voice. At the age of 13, I was in my school choir, and was one of the two or so female altos. Now, as an adult, I sing as a contralto, which is the lowest pitch as a woman. I used to be embarrassed of my voice, I feel like having a high pitched voice is associated with femininity, whereas a low voice made you masculine. My adolescent years were tough for many reasons, especially since my mother was convinced that I "was supposed to be a boy", because I'm left handed, tall (my mother is short), and took after my father a lot. There came a point where she would just give me my older brother's clothes to wear, instead of the the more form fitting stuff a girl would wear. I guess my life was sort of opposite of what you have gone through recently, I always knew I was a girl, yet someone tried pushing 'boyness' on me.
    I've healed, all these years later, but the voice thing still got me. It wasn't until last year that I finally became proud of my voice. Crazy enough, I started listening to Cher and Grace Jones, who are both contraltos, and it made me proud of my low voice. Simply put, your voice is still higher than mine, and there's nothing wrong with it!
    The pressure our society puts on us females to be as feminine and socially acceptable as possible is ridiculous. Almost no-one can actually appease such standards, and in places like the movie industry, we're thought of as "old and washed up" by the time we hit 30. It's crap. I'm 5'9, and have a friend that is 6'0. It's hard being a tall female at times, because mean people are quick to call you "a man" if they want to hurt you.
    Don't worry about those stray hairs, if they never completely leave. It's true, that some women will just randomly grow some as they get older. I have a stubborn chin hair that doesn't like to leave, and a spotty "happy trail" that I have to shave each week. These didn't appear until after pregnancy. I've worked with middle aged women that started growing facial hair just because they got older. It's just something that happens, which I've had to learn too.
    It feels like we have to fit into cookie cutter portions of what gender is supposed to be like, and yet, life isn't so black and white. Some days, I want to be the girliest, dress wearing, makeup outed girl. Other times, I embrace my masculinity and wear some of my mens' shirts. Hell, a lot of the time when I go to the store, I buy the male version of shirts, since they fit better.
    Sorry for the long ass comment. I hope you're doing alright in the world.

    For some reason RUclips has been recommending these detransition videos to me lately - I don't know why, I have no personal experience - and I ended up watching few, just to understand the issue.. And it has really made me think many things.. I am 47 years old female, since my childhood I have always been a "tomboy". I hated skirts, stockings and dresses, had lots of boys as my friends and I have basicly - till today - walked through my life wearing pants, hoodies and sneakers. I own one dress which I tend to use in the summer time when the temperature reaches such high levels that wearing anything else is too much. I rarely wear make up - maybe once every second year - if there is a special occasion (someones wedding etc.) where I want to feel little bit special myself too.. And wearing make up for me means mascara, eyeliner and maybe some lipgloss..
    Anyway, all though I have never felt very feminine, I never questioned my gender, maybe because in 1970-80-90's Finland it was not important.. Like no-one questioned my gender just because I hated dresses and liked to run wild in the forests in my brown pants rather than playing a princess. Like there was not even such atmosphere around me at home, at school etc. And today - when the US identity politics have been imported to our society too - suddely sexuality and gender have become some kind of public performances and statements people have to make in their confused teenage years.. I am really worried about kids like me, like would my mind have been f**ked if I had been a child or a teenager today, cause this talk already starts in kindergardens and primary schools, when I think, children should just be allowed to be who they are without thinking about it too much.
    I also later found out I am a (romantic) asexual, for which I did not have any term or words for when I was younger, I just realized I was different of my friends on that aspect, and I was actually over 40 years old when I heard an interview of an asexual person on the radio and was like: "Wow, there is something like that..? I am not alone being weird.." But if I look at the way the things are today, I am happy I did not know or have any term for it. I did not build my identity on that matter, I just went along with my intuition and followed my heart on that. I definitely think that we as human beings are just so much more than our gender and sexuality, that I think todays western society focuses on that all too much. I wish in the future we will go towards the direction where we are all seen just as individuals with all kinds of sides to ourselves not having to make statements and take a stand on everything.. Just live and let others live too! ❤

      I'm curious, do you now live in the US or still in Finland? The reason I'm asking is because you mentioned identity politics and what's taught in school starting in kindergarten. I can tell you that here in the US, unequivocally there is nothing taught in kindergarten or elementary school about gender identity. That's what is being pushed by one particular side of the political spectrum. They have convinced their followers that public school is pushing certain ideas. Not true. I don't know of k-12 curriculum where gender identity is taught but if they can get people riled up and believing that, it is something they can use in their campaigns and they do and unfortunately it's working.

      Thats wonderful that you’ve found a piece of yourself! I’m a teenager going through all the identity crisis nonsense right now and I *think* I’m non-binary and asexual. I’m a pretty tomboyish kid, I’ve always liked dinosaurs more than dolls. I have however always loved fashion. I’m not planning on doing anything permanent to my body until I’m 25 because the decision making part of the female brain usually finishes developing by then. For now I’m just saying I am what I am and if that changes, that’s okay!

    • @Melian07
      @Melian07 Год назад +14

      I can relate to this. I don't understand how not being fitting in a traditional gender role should mean that you're not really your gender and should rather start referring to yourself as nonbinary or trans... It's very common in fact to not fit in a gender stereotype.

      @@mamacitachang it is initiated starting in kindergarten/first grade as a foundation here in the US and the crazy teachers build on it over time. So yes it is being taught here in the US starting at those grade levels. And you are right it is one side that acknowledges the fact it’s happening while clearly your “political side of the spectrum” are typically the sickos committing these atrocities on the kids.

    • @aliaxismail

      Definitely, but definitely not at first meet or first conversations when getting to know someone romantically. Especially if you’re not being sexual with them. It’s about getting to know the person. It’s like someone asking if you have a big dick or not or big breasts or not or a large clit or not or a big ass or not or whatever when you are on a first date. It’s denouncing the person to their physical body and it’s superficial and shallow. Unless you are on the same terms and are speaking of hooking up right from the start of meeting.
      I think the people who understand that as a first knew what I was talking about when I said it in the video.

    What's extremely odd to me about trans people are that it is not ok just to be what you were born but be different in the things you like. This has never made sense. They've literally got to the ponit where "if you're a male that likes pink you must live as a female". Why can you just be a boy that likes pink? Or a boy that likes dolls, sewing, and fashion. Or a female (girl) that like sports and cars and computers, and doesn't like dolls, pink, and dresses? Or whatever combination.
    I'm a straight male that really has never been a big sports fan. I don't mind sewing a button or repairing a small tear, doing housework (cleaning a restroom doing dishes etc.). This doesn't mean I'm actually a "girl". It just means I'm a male that doesn't mind these things.
    For me I have no doubt they are encouraging the use of technology to solve problems, and in this case, it is NOT something technology is good at "solving". They are creating lifelong customers, medications, surgeries, etc. creating a lifelong dependency on these services. So I would say keep that in mind that it is THEIR benefit that you "desire" to use the technology they can "offer".

    • @aliaxismail

      There is a ton of this that I agree with! The sad part is that at this time in the world, hormones and surgeries are saving lives for people who just mentally can’t grasp that ideology and feel comfortable in it. So this is something that’s helpful in moments and certain cases. Hopefully we can all get to a place where gender doesn’t matter and we can just be.

      @@aliaxismail Not to be disrespectful, but I disagree. I think that in solving a short-term problem, we (and by we, I mean doctors/drug companies/etc) create a long-term problem. A lot of the times it is disguised as help, when in reality it mostly only helps those companies.
      And another thing - gender should never be abolished. Gender should always matter; only in a respectful way, of course. To live a life where gender doesn't matter is like denying all the beautiful and amazing things that women are because we are women. Also denying amazing things which men could be. I personally want to live in a world where men are men and women are women and we need each other because we complement each other. That is the true harmony. The jing and jang.

      I have a nephew who likes pink and likes more "feminine" things. Because of this some of the adults around him kind of freak out thinking he will be gay or trans in the future. This kind of behavior from adults is extremely harmful to kids, and could lead to a lot of confusion and maybe even kids questioning whether or not they are supposed to be the other gender. Maybe they are, but not necessarily..
      But I believe for trans people it is WAY more than that. I imagine, just as I feel like and identify as a woman, trans women feel like and identify as women. Not just because they might like feminine things.
      I hope that makes sense! I definitely can't explain what a trans person feels like because I'm cis, but I try my best to understand..
