EDIT: I will say Discovering prospects is NOT bad, just wouldn't use a lot of weeks to do it. Maybe 2-3 weeks tops. You can definitely get some CRAZY prospects from discovery, but it is risky!
My first draft with the Pirates, I ended up drafting an 82 ovr pitcher at 18 years old. I thought it was so easy to scout after that but then I realized it’s pretty tough due to trying to gain interest after finding prospects late in the scouting process. This add to the game makes Franchise so much better and I’ve extremely enjoyed it so far.
I found a dude like that in the league, I wish they would show me where that team drafted him at. He was 18 and an 84(mid season so prob drafted at an 82). It was a bit too easy for me to get him honestly but then there are other times I can't get lesser pitchers. It was an 88 overall pitcher who was 36 yrs old but having an all star season, with two triple A guys. I'm in his 2nd season and he's a 93 already, he's been the only generational pitcher I've seen though. Have you came across any more?
When I do mine I do an “international signing day” because The Show doesn’t have one. I dedicate about 4 weeks to discovery of international prospects. And the final signing day for drafted players I use that as my international player signing day. It gives me one less signing day to sign my draft picks, it removes one month of scouting players, and it gives me only one day to sign these international prospects if I find any but it adds a new level of difficulty to franchise mode I feel
Haven't heard you mention it but , the depth chart can help in planning the future , it has the future years and shows you what a players ratings will be, or projected to be for that year, so you can plan what holes you will need plugged by the time a young player is big league ready.
Took me a few tries to get scouting down. I discovered an NR who my scouts put at number 1. I was buzzing when he fell to me at 12 and he ended up being a 64 overall with 61 potential lmao.
I’ll say from my experience signing interest is pretty irrelevant. As long as you have atleast 50% signing interest, and you switch signings to “auto” the game will always sign all your draft picks. Pretty OP lol.
Also even if you do everything right you can still get a bust - i had a 100% scouted #3 OF prospect using a scout with 98% efficiency and 95 position players that was showing 85-99 potential and 70-80 overall - after the draft he ended up being a D potential and a 61 overall
The game screwed you if your scout was really that good. Go to roster and find the player that should've been better. Select the player in question, then select edit player, go down to attributes and set his potential and overall to where it should be. It's not cheating this time because the game itself cheated. You're simply correcting for the game's BS.
I think you cracked the nut here buddy. I have been doing okay with my strategy, but seems like I was always missing later round scouting since my focus was always around where my picks would be, but you just run out of time. I think I'm going to start limiting discovery and apply some of the ideas here. I didn't realize you could get so many guys scouted to a higher % by doing the scout position. It made sense but I tried to balance everything too much, and I think the discovery aspect hurt. I also try to find any NR MLB prospects that are on the team 100 and scout those. Seem to find a few gems doing that as well.
Thanks for the tips, I’m doing a sim franchise and did auto scouting year one and my first pick at 11 was a bust but got some gems late on instinct. Your video will help me I am doing manual scouting now thanks to you explaining! 😊
Korey Hemphill from Germany, in my head-canon he'd have American parents stationed in Germany and he was born there but moved back to the US when he was 3 and eventually pursued a career in baseball.
Thank you for this video! Adding your known knowledge with my ingenuity, if what you say for generational talents having to be 18, then every year, scout accordingly. By this I mean, taking a few minutes to count all the 18 year old pitchers and seeing where they are mostly from and then group scouting them that way. Unfortunately there isn’t enough time to cover the whole spectrum. But thanks to your advice l, I’ve learned that you can scout a whole lot more players scouting by position so thank you
My first ever franchise i used the nationals and there weren't any SP that intrigued me so I drafted the top ranked guy which was a catcher I hadn't scouted at all. He was a 80 overall 18 year old with 99 potential
Scouting starting pitchers really does seem overpowered. I wish when you "scout position" you could do it by infield and outfield as a whole like you can in the discovery process; there are just too few players of one position in one region to make it worth it with the way it's set up now.
With your help I drafted one of the two A potential pitchers in the entire class and my guy was 18 the other was 22. There was also a 99 potential SS that went last round to the Orioles I can't wait to go try and trade for.
This worked really well. I found a generational talent that wasn't ranked by the mlb, but the Rangers had the same idea I did and drafted him fourth. I had the 12th pick. Sad times
this is a late comment, but i’ve found that if you’re in a long term save, like 10+ years, eventually discovering prospects is going to be your best move, esp if you have a successful team and have later picks
My first draft I had little to no idea what I was doing and managed to snag a generational 5’9 first basemen 😂 simmed his career played 22 seasons and in ended up in cooperstown
I started a franchise where I make my own team and replace a bad team in MLB, we're the Lexington Stallions. The first time I did it this year, I found a generational talent, and there was a 2nd generational talent in the same draft, who was taken in my division. I've seen pairs of generational talents a few times. I only draft and trade, I don't sign free agents. Team got really good after 10 years, so I stopped playing for months. Picked it up again recently and started a new franchise with ny Stallions. 11 years in and the first generational talent was drafted (not by me). My first one, I got one within 1st 3 years. And I saw multiple drafts with generational talents over 12 years. My current franchise, only 1 generational talent, drafted in year 11. Weird the differences between the 2 franchise I've done.
In my franchise they added a draft lottery in December and it is for teams that didn’t make the playoffs. I only started getting the animation in around 2026 or 27
Try to get scouts with a 90 or higher in efficiency for each scout. Scouting a position is 15% per week for 90+ efficient scouts and just 10% for 80's.
Big supporter here I watch your videos for years now, I’m having trouble on my rebuilds finding cheap players who you can trade for easy that remain consistent. Can you give us a trading video of players you find that are cheap and produce? Would be great bro.
The screen at 43:27 where it shows Hemphill's attributes. Are those actual current attributes? He is MLB quality right now with good stamina, H/9 BB/9 and K/9. The only other one I see as a viable MLB pitcher might be Warren. The reason is because stamina never increases and a pitcher with 75 stamina for example who is 4 or 5 years away from MLB will be at around 70 stamina and he will be most likely a 4 or 5 inning pitcher. If those are Hemphill's actual attributes then I have not seen a starting pitcher that good in the draft and that's a welcome improvement.
Instead of making sure to click yes on Sunday, when you go to calendar just go to the left once and that should bring you to Saturday and just click triangle
This is very helpful, question though- how long is the flash to bang on the people you draft? I’m sure it will depend, but put another way if I draft a player how long should I expect to keep them in the minors before they’re ready for the majors? Am I drafting for 2/3 years down the road?
Hey Ant, I got a 19 year old 2nd baseman who was 81 overall 99 potential. I suppose generational can also be 19 years old then, or was it just a stroke of insane luck? This video def helped me out tho, appreciate it.
having to check west coast, east coast etc. makes it super hard to make a choice. do you stick more around your region? i am going international for pitching. I don't know if i like this as much as before. i like change, so I'm have to keep practicing.
I started a franchise mode with the CUBS roster at the beginning of the season. I'm doing well but the Cubs have since added Mike tauchman and a few pictures. Can I add tauchman or am I stuck with the team I started with? Thanks, Nick
I’m new to baseball but love franchise mode. This maybe a stupid question so apologies but I made my first overall pick and couldn’t sign him. Where have I gone wrong here?

I always end up signed random 18yr olds and editing their attributes to a realistic setting and develop them from there.
Update - I started a new franchise with the nationals and have been hitting on my picks. I have 4 generationals in a 5 year rebuild. This method truly works!
At roughly 21 min you elected to scout 3B Leroy Higgins who had a 10% total scout score. Then after 1 week in the Priority 1 slot, he comes back with a full 100% scout score. Is this purely bc he's older (21 you mentioned in the vid...)? I have never seen a player get full scout percentage after just one week. Thanks!
Do current and future attributes mean anything? Like good velocity or good future velocity. Anything that you should focus on for targets/people to avoid.
I did a franchise and drafted this generational Catcher who was 79 over in the first year. Ok in all my franchises (20 plus at this point) I haven’t seen a generational pitching prospect. All 1B, C, and CF for me. That’s kinda crazy.
@@nextgenrevo3223 same I got a 80 ovr 18 y/o rf with 99 potential

You should do a career sim of the pitcher you drafted
Please he has to
Agreed
Agreeeeee
Or throw him another franchise
Tried your tips in my draft and got 4 89+ potential 18 yr old pitchers including a 99 with my 4th pick. Scouted potential was 82-98 for him

They should a international draft in the game as well. Just like in real life. Could find cool 16 year old who is amazing or has crazy tools

Az drafts at 12 right ? Thx 👍
Thinking of a SP or position players with az at 12 thx
Me too it's fn bullshit
The scouting/drafting is much more interesting/fun than it was in the past
Keep pumping these vids out. Found you a few weeks ago and am loving the content! Go Cubbies!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Learned I was scouting very inefficiently. Hope I can recover for first year draft 😂
I’ll say from my experience signing interest is pretty irrelevant. As long as you have atleast 50% signing interest, and you switch signings to “auto” the game will always sign all your draft picks. Pretty OP lol.
i used your tips and found a NR guy that was #2 and took him and he has 94 potential with high 60s overall, appreciate your help bro
Ant for career sims this year you should take some of the best players from your rebuilds that you drafted and sim out their career
This!
Thanks so much for the in-depth breakdown! Definitely a lot of changes from the previous scouting system, but they look like a great improvement!
This was so well articulated and well done. Never played the show and about to get started. Thank you!
I was hoping you would make a video going through your scouting! Thanks!
Great and informational video, could you potentially drop a spreadsheet with a written strategy of the video
Discovering prospects has been extremely valuable for me. I almost always find an elite player in discovery.
Yeah, I have changed my mind on them. Just wouldn't recommend spending too many weeks on it
How do you do it? What are your tips?

While watching this using the methods I drafted the top 3 potential players all 21 years old. 96 and 93 pot sp and a 94 pot cf

Try to get scouts with a 90 or higher in efficiency for each scout. Scouting a position is 15% per week for 90+ efficient scouts and just 10% for 80's.

"Catcher, I feel like we're pretty good"

95 and above is the highest threshold for efficiency rating. Same for any other rating but it’s most applicable and noticeable for efficiency

I just showed that to make sure to point out that you can skip scouting. So don't make that mistake... I've done it more than I'd like to say lol
Can you do the group scout technique with other positions? Thank you
In my last draft I found 3 guys outside of the mlb top 100 who I had ranked in the top 5 including one who was not ranked and I had ranked at 4

I had a generational talent in my second franchise I’ve done, was ranked 1 in MLB and my team ranks and he fell to me at 4. 82 A potential 3B
in all sports games my scouting be top tier, especially on the show,, i be finding good players every year
Discovered a RF that had 68 over with 98 potential don’t count out discovering prospects lol he was ranked 141 but was top 5 in the class
Did they add the cinematic after you made this video? I believe they tell you about the lottery in like december or january
Can you please do a longer franchise series with gameplay
He will do it once SDS updates their roster
yep

Ant. Love the videos, man, and appreciate all the content you're dropping. Also, you're a made man repping the pinky ring nice.

first draft I did the pirates drafted an 80 overall cf w 98 potential it was wild
Thank you for the video, it was very helpful
It will be my first franchise in years so really helpfull. Thanks. Go Reds 🤓
Found a closer MLB ranked 65 I scouted him as #1 he fell to me at the 25th pick 18 year old with 94 potential in my first draft
I started a franchise mode with the CUBS roster at the beginning of the season. I'm doing well but the Cubs have since added Mike tauchman and a few pictures. Can I add tauchman or am I stuck with the team I started with?
Thanks,
Nick
If u set contracts to auto the prospects u draft always sign
Do you think 100 percent is necessary and how much do you factor age in to the pick
I forgot to scout one of my weekly options totally forgot after the game and screwed myself out of 1 week of scouting lol
Will a generational player always be like a top 5 pick or can you get one late in the first round or even later in the draft
I’m new to baseball but love franchise mode. This maybe a stupid question so apologies but I made my first overall pick and couldn’t sign him. Where have I gone wrong here?
I hope they give love to the franchise mode in mlb 24
How coincidental, I just was coming to your channel to find this and it just gets put up, 🙏
idk what game fog of war originated from but i know its from EA cause NHL has had it for a couple years
One thing that’s kind of confusing me and I don’t know why is every video on RUclips is giving you a tutorial on scouting and drafting on a rebuild with the worst team in baseball but nobody’s explaining how to scout and recruit if you’re already a playoff contender
Exactly.
I found another tutorial on drafting, and the guy deters away from everything and explains how to spot generational players. I'll never get one cause I never finish that bad overall.
My best tips is to scout players in and around your draft slot.
I do what you do but if I need starting pitching I do all 4 regions to 100%
Funny enough my 3rd round centerfielder is on the roster by accident and is platooning with my starter. He's hitting .300
Any tips for someone who likes to control multiple teams? I’ve noticed in this years game, you can only control one team in the draft and the rest is auto. Kind of a big bummer if you ask me. How do you know what region the players are from when group scouting
I’m just gonna say this… I love your content on MLB the show. Also love the background music. Gets me hyped up.
What if a player has dr exam opted out does that mean there hiding there health issues
What’s up man. I just did my first draft and I had 2 generational talents!!! I drafted nothing but a bunch of C potentials though
Should I follow the MLB rank or the team rank?
