I've been playing MLB The Show since 2006. I never once focused on leg kicks to time swings. I always looked at the release from the pitcher, then begin my swing once the ball reached the end of the grass to the beginning of the dirt from the batters box. It may not be the most perfect strategy to focus on due to also trying to recognize pitch type, but I've done pretty good overall. I'll give your leg kick strategy a go. Btw, I love Zoom for players 6 foot 4 and over for less pci to cover, but I usually go to strike zone 2 with shorter players.

This video was AMAZING. You’re a great teacher. Was a fun watch as well as educational. I been terrible with my timing but im excited to try these new techniques!!
I came back to this video to tell you how much your advice has helped me improve in hitting. One question, I've noticed some batters have weird kick to swing timing. Specifically Luis Urias from the WBC cards. His kick to swing is so weird
@@gforceBRZ If I’m thinking of the same thing with Urius’ stance, it’s kind of how Kyle Schwarber’s used to be.. (his just isn’t AS dramatic as he used to be w/ the Cubs) but with those types of guy’s, they have the kind of leg kick/upper body movement where it’s all one motion and basically as soon as their front foot lands on the ground, that’s when you want to swing.. I did the same thing with looking at the pitcher’s cap in baseball when I played IRL since it was a good way for pitch recognition, but also I looked at how they would hold their shoulders. (Different shoulder positions/slots= different pitch being thrown other than fastball) Unfortunately, the pitcher’s shoulder’s are (for the most part) the same for every pitch, arm slot just changes.. BUT, 1 other thing that would help me out whenever I fell into a slump. This is what I would do IRL and it even works in-game as well. Ok, so as the pitcher starts his windup, or even if he’s pitching out of the stretch, as soon as he lifts his leg up, count to yourself “one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, one-thousand-three”… the time stops as soon as the pitcher releases the ball. 9 out of 10 pitcher’s are right in-between “one-thousand-two & one-thousand-three”. And when you see that ball, with the delay between your brain and your thumb, that’s why you want to start yourself as soon as he releases the ball. (It’ll take a little time getting used to it.) but I’m telling you, with this amazing video, and my method I use, you’ll not only be hitting ball’s better, but you’ll start to be able to know exactly how long each pitcher’s windup is and how to time up their offspeed as well. (I actually keep counting in my head sometimes after the pitch even goes over the plate, especially on balls so I can REALLY get the timing down.. hope this helps man!
Been using Catcher camera which is fairly similar to zoom ever since I started playing the show and never had a problem with it, I’ve been a consistent hitter good against all kind of opponents, seeing the leg strides/set of the batter before the pitch it’s definetly important and I cannot ignore that the presentation looks so much better. It’s nice to see competitive players out there like you that Can work it out while seeing the batter stance!
Dude why has nobody ever said anything about the stride before in these kind of hitting videos I’m gunna have to give this a try huge thank you in advance cuz this makes so much sense
Actually when i pitch a ball in real life, i throw side arm but arm still bends like Shohei Ohtani’s but it bends down more, then it will like twist around and then i just release. I started throwing sidearm when i was younger and my arm started doing this. I was on a baseball team back then and my teammates said “Your arm is gruesome” and they had to look away 🤣😆
This was game changing. Using Zoom hitting cam has changed my game way more than SZ cams. Using that players stance and motion is a game changer. Don’t be a follower guys, use what camera works best for you!
Thanks for the tips I think I used to do this back in the Colby Rasmus days when he was with the jays. Should help. Also the release point hopefully helps I have decent recognition but I have to stay back which obviously online I see a lot of high and tight fastballs so I’ll try that out thanks.
I got a tip you can make a video about. So I figured out you get 2 innings out of a 2 way player before they are tired on conquest if you put them on your bench. My bench is Ohtani and two Negro league players. I started killing on conquest with your tip and using Ohtani in the bullpen.
I went into challenge of the week (Where I like to test settings like hitting view, PCI, etc. since they update immediately and live without needing to go out and back into menu) This week is Bellinger and the foot down thing is insane. I was able to hit 4 PP's out of the first 5 swings I took. The other one being early which is better than being late. The peripheral vision with zoom hitting really lets you see when the foot goes down. Then it's just all about pitch recognition and timing because fairly easy.
Ty for the video. Been playing MLB longer than The Internet's been around does anybody guess pitch online like every batter or is that just the waist cuz it's starting to be a waste against the computer and taking your tips I have a feeling they'll be much more fun and better competition and hopefully won't start like the Orioles did back in that year 0 and 23 I believe it was
Bro……. I just started playing the show for the first time a few months ago I’ve been batting strike zone the whole time cause everyone says it’s the best and I was having okay results. I watched this video changed by view to zoom and the first at bat of my next game I hit a perfect perfect home run.
I’m in a wild slump right now. Legend hit difficulty Contact 97, Power 87, Vision 94. Every swing with good timing is either a miss, foul ball or a out. I’ve hit countless perfect timing hits caught for outs. Idk what’s going on
Thank you that was helpful, im new to baseball, i wondered if you knew how to play with Ohtani in Franchise, is i chose the team he is on, is he then going to change since hes free agent, so is there another team he moves to like the Dodgers where he is now? Im playing MLB The Show 23. Thanks in advance
I started playing this game recently by playing HR derbies and have gotten good enough to compete online and have won quite a few derbies. I got the hitting down but suck at everything else 😂
Nelson Cruz is hard to time with this because his step comes pretty much right as the ball is released, if you swing there it’s very early cause there’s no other indication to show you his motion. Maybe for a future video idea you can show us this with the harder to see motion guys?
So I don't watch baseball in real life but I love to play the game lol. I can't watch his leg and the ball at the same time. What's a tip on how to do that better? Where on the screen should I be looking to tell when he's doing the leg animation?
The peripheral vision will help u to see the ball and the leg kick at the same tkme. Theres no magic trick, just practice it until u get the hang of it
Tell me how I been playing this game since mlb the show 16 and I’m just now learning that the hitters time it perfectly with their stride every time 💀 this actually improved my hitting ASTRONOMICALLY

I got a tip you can make a video about. So I figured out you get 2 innings out of a 2 way player before they are tired on conquest if you put them on your bench. My bench is Ohtani and two Negro league players. I started killing on conquest with your tip and using Ohtani in the bullpen.
Love that
I went into challenge of the week (Where I like to test settings like hitting view, PCI, etc. since they update immediately and live without needing to go out and back into menu)
This week is Bellinger and the foot down thing is insane. I was able to hit 4 PP's out of the first 5 swings I took. The other one being early which is better than being late. The peripheral vision with zoom hitting really lets you see when the foot goes down. Then it's just all about pitch recognition and timing because fairly easy.
Really glad to hear this helped!!!
@@Mistergraavy Any tips for batters who have next to no stride?
This video is beautiful, better described than some hitting coaches ahaha
Haha thanks I really appreciate that
Yeah that definitely was my biggest issue. Not following ball out pitchers hand just starting at the strike zone
Let's goo
@@Mistergraavy back to say it worked like a charm. Idk why it seems like much easier now. Smh I have been assssssss for so long 😂
@@yochief-wy6tk LOVE THIS
Ty for the video. Been playing MLB longer than The Internet's been around does anybody guess pitch online like every batter or is that just the waist cuz it's starting to be a waste against the computer and taking your tips I have a feeling they'll be much more fun and better competition and hopefully won't start like the Orioles did back in that year 0 and 23 I believe it was
Good luck!
Man dude I've used strike zone high for so long if I switch to zoom it's gonna be like I'm playing a different game altogether
@@Professor_MemesSquad give it a shot!
Awesome, unique tips. Subbed.
Thanks before I watch your video I didn’t hit that many home runs then after I watch your video, I a hit home run every game
Glad to hear it fenji!
Bro……. I just started playing the show for the first time a few months ago I’ve been batting strike zone the whole time cause everyone says it’s the best and I was having okay results. I watched this video changed by view to zoom and the first at bat of my next game I hit a perfect perfect home run.
Bro I just used your advise, grounded out the first few times, but now I’m hitting bombs 💣. Thank you
LETS GOOOO
Only thing is inside fastballs you have to swing as the foot is going down or you’ll be late still.
Good call!
Def deserved a sub
❤️
I’m in a wild slump right now. Legend hit difficulty Contact 97, Power 87, Vision 94. Every swing with good timing is either a miss, foul ball or a out. I’ve hit countless perfect timing hits caught for outs. Idk what’s going on
Great vid bro good shit 👍
Gotchuuu
Thank you that was helpful, im new to baseball, i wondered if you knew how to play with Ohtani in Franchise, is i chose the team he is on, is he then going to change since hes free agent, so is there another team he moves to like the Dodgers where he is now? Im playing MLB The Show 23. Thanks in advance
I usually use broadcast for timing, but I’m going to try out zoom for better results.
I still suck, but this helped me go from no hits to a couple hits each game!
Great explaining and straight to the point!
Thanks!
I've heard the leg kick thing for years, but never really was able to do that. It's hard to track the ball and the leg kick at the same time.
It becomes a feel thing after enough practice. Try doing it in offline modes to start!
You should also show at the end when you hit a perfect perfect and you fly out or the 3rd baseman catches it
The second I changed my camera settings while the picture was about to deliver to zone I hit a 410 homer as hank Thompson
This works! I was skeptical. But holy Dolly Parton this works!
Loooool
I started playing this game recently by playing HR derbies and have gotten good enough to compete online and have won quite a few derbies. I got the hitting down but suck at everything else 😂
Nelson Cruz is hard to time with this because his step comes pretty much right as the ball is released, if you swing there it’s very early cause there’s no other indication to show you his motion. Maybe for a future video idea you can show us this with the harder to see motion guys?
Sure!
thanks man. new to the show and this is more than useful. Hope ur okay🫡
@@0xyc0dwrestling thanks pal! No reason to rehash it for this year since it's literally the same
This technique will only work with certain pitchers. Some, like Zack Greinke have a delayed/stuttered release.
Awesome breakdown, my dude
🙏
Total noob here, but I'm enjoying the game on Xbox Game Pass thanks to your tips. Just won my first game 1 - 0. 😅
That's awesome!!
Is the foot placing primarily for timing the fastball with additional waiting on breaking/off speed pitches?
Great video 💯💪 "THANKS "!!!
Can you make a video about pitch recognition
Sure!
Played for years since 06’. Always was late on fastballs. For whatever reason I am always early on these fastballs no matter what
Early is best;
