Layne, the beatboxer in an interview with The Charismatic Voice, said that in the Tamatoa part, Geoff was doing the bass too but for the video Eli was pretending to be the bass in that part 😊
That's normal for their videos, Eli does the bass live however when Goeff can't.

She did it a long time ago just with school and all it takes awhile to get them all edited. 💕
While Eli does take over for Geoff on the bass sometimes. I think remember hearing Layne mention in an interview that this one was Geoff doing the bass the whole way through, but for the video they just needed someone else to mouth the bass part while Geoff was doing the main vocals. Since Layne was the one who wrote the arrangement for this, he knows a little more. But also Geoff’s bass is noticeably from Eli’s bass since Geoff has a deeper voice naturally and he’s the one who usually does the bass so we hear him the most.

Eli actually was asked to mime singing the base but Geoff actually recorded it per Lane who produced the sound before sending it to their engineer.

Of course, this would premiere at the same time as my daily team call XD Still, at least I get to watch it right afterward ^_^ Well, after the call and the rest of the family getting up (joys of working with an east coast team from the west coast). Yes, Eli is fantastic 100% of the time. I've heard him described as a utility player on a baseball team, able to be put anywhere and perform well, and I can't help but agree. He's probably one of the most flexible members of the group, even if he's sometimes easy to overlook because the role he's filling isn't the focus... there are just times where he slams into you and reminds you "Hey, I really am a powerhouse in my own right too." Layne is one of my favorite beatboxers. You are right that he's got such a unique sound compared to most other beatboxers around. And on top of that, he's got some pretty killer singing chops as well. I love the fact that every year on his solo channel, he and his family do a song for his youngest daughter's birthday. Last year it was that "don't you wanna be evil" song from Descendants. I really miss Earl's sense of character... still heartbroken over his departure, and now JNone and his amazing sense of character... I'll be fine, I promise... Still, at least we've got Geoff, Eli, and Layne. I don't think I'd be okay if they lost any of them. And hey, there's Geoff strutting his stuff... he's got an amazing capacity as a villain XD Geoff and Jonathan Young do such wonderful jobs as villain singers XD It's just a pity that Rachel is probably never going to be a permanent member. She doesn't live in the same area as the rest of them, and she's got too much of a career going where she lives, so I can't really blame her for sticking with that.
Still, for my request, I'm sticking with Jonathan Young. He does a really killer cover of the song Shiny, but I have to stick with his Sound of Silence cover XD Especially since you've reacted to a few covers of that song. I think you'll really enjoy his ^_^🐚

The arrangement is pretty unique for a Disney tune. The music change part way through reminds me of songs by Paul McCartney like "listen to what the man said". It's also a real contrast to see them not in makeup like they did "The little Mermaid" Medely.🐚

I saw an interview with Layne who did the arraignment on this song. He said that Eli did not provide the bass during Geoff's solo. It's actually Geoff on bass. He was doubled in the recording. Eli, however, is lip-syncing the bass for the video.

Eli has very good bass. BUT this time Eli is doing Lyp-sync. Geoff pre-recorded the bass line to play while he is singing SHINY-TAMATOA.

Eli isn't actually doing the bass. Geoff has another layer put in of him doing the bass line, but they have Eli mouthing the line for the sake of the video.

🐚🌊🦀Yeah, Maggie, great reaction, as ALWAYS. I love it when you can't help but sing along. I do the same thing. Drives the family crazy when we're watching a talent/singing competition show or videos on line. They wanna hear "the talent" and I do to, but if the music "hits me" I just can't help myself. Forget about it if the competitor is really killing, it I am belting right along with them.
I have recently been banished to watch in another room. Unfortunately, that room doesn't have a DVR, so I can't rewind and have an encore.🤗🤗😉😎😄😅😆😃😆😉
But hey, they get to pick their favorites (which often are not the same as mine and don't often have the best voices and/or talent/control of their instruments. But hey, America and the judges often put through the contestants that perform as "less than" the ones sent home too, so... it is obviously not the pitch perfect and best talent that wins every time any way. There must be some "Factor" I am not picking up on. Personally, I do not "IDOLize" looks, but "TALENT". Having grown up with a classical pianist as a father who taught musical theory, I am about the sounds that come together from everything on stage, and from the performing artist/s themselves, if you're going to have lights and pyrotechnics, the sounds those items produce should fit in the sound track as well. Because that will be picked up by the auditory track too. So, yeah. The eyes and ears, and even the sense of feel (concussive bass) are all part of the performance for the average attendee. For those who are missing a sense, whether it be sight, hearing, or what have you, the other senses pick up even more of the other parts. Imagine being blind, the concussions the hearing and feeling pick up from the bass and piro in a concert?
Imagine being deaf, the feeling you get from the crowd from a super emotional hard rocking section of music?

@@maggiereneemusic I wish I could, but alas, I am disabled and am living on a tight fixed income and can not afford Patreon donations. I would have about 23 channels I would donate to if I had the funding to do so. However, getting by on less than $800 household income per month is way to tight to donate to anything. I even had to give up my donations to Susan G Koleman, St.Jude, and The Humane Society, and other charities, when I left the workforce due to my disabilities.

Earl is obviously not with the group anymore. I always thought he'd be an incredible voice artist with the huge advantage that he can sing in character.
As much as I like J-None, Earl is missed.
