Now-a-days I don't even think anyone needs a wallet (atleast here in India) everything is digital, from payments to identity cards, visiting cards, etc Not to mention, not just consumer side but the businesses from small to big, everyone accepts online payments now that too with 0 charge. It's amazing. All you need is a phone. For payments, you don't even need a smartphone or internet, you can use a feature phone from 2000s and do the payments using USSD codes.
I have a wallet like this right now. It’s not a Ridge wallet, but it has an extremely similar design. And let me tell you, getting cards out of this thing is a NIGHTMARE. They always come out in one giant clump, and then you have to manually sort through them to find the one you want. It’s NOT more convenient, nor is it in ANY way better than a traditional bifold. So I just bought myself one of those wallets that ejects your cards in a staggered pattern with the simple push of a button. And when it gets here, I’m pretty sure I’ll wish I’d bought one sooner.
and the idea of **Multiple Pockets** Love how one complaint is "i put this in the same pocket as my phone it will scratch >:(" and then another is "If I put in my back pocket it is hurty >:(" Bro how many pockets do your skinny levis come with?
Though the ridge wallet isnt perfect, a lot of those arguments can be said for both the ridge and leather wallets. Putting the wallet in the same pocket as your phone could be a problem, yeah, but otherwise i dont really see many downsides. The ridge wallet is very thin, even with 11-12 cards in it, and it doesnt do it justice to showcase it next to a thin wallet or cardholder with no cards in it. Though with no cards it is thicker than a normal cardholder, it holds way more cards. And if you were to fill up a normal wallet, it would bend and become uncomortable, so with a lot of cards i prefer the ridge. As to putting any wallet in your back pocket and sitting on it. Dont do that with any wallet, phone etc. As it slightly curves your back and could introduce back pains later in life, ridge or not. And even though a nice leather wallet is about the same price, and holds for a long time, aluminium, titanium, nice plastic or carbon shows almost no wear, and and can be take more of a beating than a nice leather wallet. And lastly the reason you cant use keycards inside the wallet, is because they are RFID-blocking. While this may be an inconveniece using keycards, it is nice to know that credit- or debit cards cant be scanned without us knowing. All in all id say the ridge wallet is quite swell, and im very happy with mine. But nice leather wallets are also great!
I agree with you with the dudes criticism but ridge wallets are overpriced imo i would like to have one but there are wallets that are similar, with almost the same quality but cheaper
@@auspiciousman lol. screen protectors have never made sense to me. my phone screen shattered after a very unfortunately-timed vehicle accident, and when I took it to the strongest force for good known to man (the mall kiosk Indian gentleman) for a repair, he slapped on a screen protector. I have yet to experience a screen protector actually protecting the screen of a phone. all it does is make it not register light taps, and act _particularly_ wonky the moment any form of liquid is involved (hell, even it being too humid outside messes up touch registering with the screen protector on).

I have the ridge wallet. I love it. Best wallet I’ve owned. It’s starting to get some wear and scratches which in my opinion gives it a more rugged look which gives it character
It's not going to scratch up your phone screen, aluminum is around a 2.8 on the mohs scale of hardness and a glass phone screen is around a level 6 Edited The reason why it doesn't work with key cards is that they usually use RFID and the ridge wallet is designed to block RFID to prevent credit card information from being stolen
@@midgetman4206 You're correct when it comes to aluminum oxide being harder than aluminum. In this case though the aluminum oxide isn't from atmospheric exposure. 1. Don’t put your wallet and phone in the same pocket, and that’s why screen protectors were invented. I use one on my Game Gear, and yes, I DO STRONGLY SUGGEST putting a screen protector on mobile devices that scratch up easily (phone, tablet, Switch, etc.) 2. Thinner WHEN FULL than a regular wallet (again, WHEN FULL) 3. It’s not meant for back-pocketed guys. It’s meant for front-pocketed guys or Fanny packs, handbags, purses, backpacks, etc. 4. One of the selling points is that it BLOCKS RFID TRANSMISSIONS AND KEEPS YOU SAFE FROM PRYING EYES. In out digital age, privacy is more important than ever, which is why Ridge has that feature. Please remember that if you plan on reviewing something, first, actually learn why it has the features it does. And don’t go around claiming wild things about products you don’t even know much about ❤😊
The likelihood of ever coming across someone stealing data through rfid is pretty small, and unless you have some high risk security job or something, the convenience of tap to pay without taking your cards out far outweighs the potential risk of a hacker getting your badge number

I’ve had a ridge wallet for about 6 months, and I really dislike it, but have been too lazy to get a new one. 1. It is the most annoying thing getting the cards out of the wallet. It’s hard to fan them out like they show you in the ads and usually all your cards end up falling out everywhere and you have to pick them up. It’s super annoying. 2. It’s not thin at all. Pro 1. It’s a lot smaller than a normal wallet, about the size of a card.
I've had one and I hated it. It's difficult to get what card you want, having cash on the outside causes it to get damaged and tear, it scratches up any card touching the aluminum, can slide out of your pocket easy, cash is difficult to put in and out of wallet. I could go on.
@@DrSpreadem_ I've never had a problem getting the card I want in the first place. I tried putting it in my back pocket, and it tore up my pack pocket sleeves. I switched back to a minimalist leather wallet and have never even thought of switching. Also to note, leather can take drops and falls without scuffing and denting. TLDR: it's not for everyone and it may cause wardrobe damage, YMMV.

1) Who is putting their phone and wallet in the same pocket? That seems more like a "you" problem. 2) If you're gonna compare that to an EMPTY leather wallet, then ya. The empty wallet will be thinner. Guarantee if you put 12 cards in the ridge, and 12 in the leather, ridge will be thinner. 3) Ridge and other minimalist wallets are made to be FRONT pocket wallets. Not back pocket, which is generally easier to fall out after sitting. (I've seen many of my male family members lose their wallets putting it in the back pocket) 4) It's an RFID wallet. It's meant to keep your cards safe from people scanning them and stealing your card info. So of course you can't tap a card with it. Besides, outside of a work card for accessing an office that probably wouldn't read a regular card....if you have debit and credit cards you would still NEED to take a card out to pay for something otherwise the wrong card may get charged. You can always put the office card in the strap so it can be tapped if you're that worried.

The one thing that everyone fails to mention is that these minimalist wallets are super inconvenient to pull money out of. With a ridge wallet, you have to pull out all of your money at once, unfold it, reorganize the bills by hand with your wallet sitting on the counter after you get your change, then fold it all back up and put it back in the wallet. It’s a huge pain in the ass compared to a traditional wallet where the bills are splayed out and easy to access and pick out on an individual basis.
1. Aluminium is way softer than glass, so no, it won't scratch your phone screen. 2. It is thin. It looks wider, because you didn't have anything in your leather wallet. And honestly I wished every wallet was like that. 4. Yeah, sitting on this thing would be awful. But why would you sit on it anyways?

I got a ridge wallet, used it for a couple of years but switching back to a leather bifold. Reason is that it keeps badly scratching up my cards and causing the plastic outer layer on the cards to peel off as the cards are in constant contact and rub against each other when inserted and removed. Compared to a bifold wallet where the cards are all separate and only contact soft leather when used
My main problem is the fact that it is metal so it slides out and falls out of my pocket when I sit down with loose clothing. I typically wear workout gear and unless I am wearing skinny jeans, it will slip out 90% of the time.
No those are stupid complaints, MY complaints with the wallet is that you can’t put any cash / change into it, pulling out any card from it will make another card fall out or even more, and it fades out / scratches my cards overtime.

I've got an offbrand Ridge wallet (Mission Made, was on sale for $10 at the time) which looks _very_ similar, so I'm going to assume they're comparable.
in mine I have 3 ATM cards, two ID cards, a card multitool (with a little bit of cord wrapped around it), and two Uno cards for funny haha. so in essence, the equivalent of ~8-9 cards. I could easily fit another 5, maybe more, and this thing would still be a relatively slim profile, even compared to a thin leather wallet with only four or five cards in it.
@@wizard8437 the leather wallet will easily surpass the ridge wallet in thickness once it has 5-8 cards in it. Layers of leather add quite a bit of thickness and require more layers and pockets to fit more cards. The “custom” leather wallet he showed was empty and was about the thickness of the ridge wallet that had cards in it already.
This was an excellent ad for the Ridge wallet, I will be purchasing one now.

Had one of the original ridge wallets in titanium from like 2017. Carried it the past 8 years. My review is this. It never scratched any of the 5 phones I had during that span of time (though I don’t keep my phone and wallet in the same pocket except for extreme circumstances lol) It never needed to be repaired/tinkered with etc it did it’s job and held up very well. Had normal wear and tear scratches/color fading etc but nothing out of the ordinary. I finally retired it today actually because my tastes have changed as I’ve gotten older and I got a minimalist American made full leather card holder. Still keeping my ridge just because how well it did.

“It’s gonna scratch up the surface of your screen” let me introduce you to a screen protector
actually it wont scratch the screen. The only thing it can scratch is a silicon or plastic screen protector

Cool
This is actually a really good overview, thanks! I appreciate your perspective

my phone screen shattered after a very unfortunately-timed vehicle accident, and when I took it to the strongest force for good known to man (the mall kiosk Indian gentleman) for a repair, he slapped on a screen protector. I thought, "cool, this oughtta help."
less than a week later there was a crack on the screen, under the screen protector, with the screen protector being unscuffed. I have yet to experience a screen protector actually protecting the screen of a phone. all it does is make it not register light taps, and act _particularly_ wonky the moment any form of liquid is involved (hell, even it being too humid outside messes up touch registering with the screen protector on).

It's not going to scratch up your phone screen, aluminum is around a 2.8 on the mohs scale of hardness and a glass phone screen is around a level 6

1. Don’t put your wallet and phone in the same pocket, and that’s why screen protectors were invented.
I use one on my Game Gear, and yes, I DO STRONGLY SUGGEST putting a screen protector on mobile devices that scratch up easily (phone, tablet, Switch, etc.)
2. Thinner WHEN FULL than a regular wallet (again, WHEN FULL)
And don’t go around claiming wild things about products you don’t even know much about ❤😊
The taking the key card out of the wallet to use it is a good thing💀otherwise people can steal you info if they try 💀
