You stumbled upon a design style that fps players might want to experiment with. A lot of long-term fps players will teach themselves "shoulder aiming", where the wrist and elbow don't move and all the movement is driven by the shoulder. You created a shoulder aim trainer: something that locks the wrist in place so aiming has to come from the shoulder. There is a huge niche you've advanced by years.
eh, shoulder aiming is not considered one of the best styles of aiming, but in reality you should be incorporating shoulder, wrist, and fingertip altogether to achieve the best aim possible. Shoulder aiming is limited by its large movements and lack of microadjustments, which in some cases might be alright, but most games nowadays focus on the microadjustment aspect of aim. Tracking and flicking are the main two methods for aiming, and fingertip aiming is perfect for tracking and perfect for small scale flicking. A couple years ago, maybe like pre covid shoulder aim was a main talking point but nowadays fingertip grip and aiming using your fingertips is considered the best possible solution for aim. Shoulder aim isnt really something that needs to be practiced, as due to its lack of accuracy for small scale movements, doesn't prioritize accuracy, but rather speed. And speed can be solved by putting more force into the arm. Again, this has to be balanced with a more precise amount of force into the fingertips which is why you'll see top aimers of today having a really good balance of all the aiming methods.
@kevl4n109 didn't say it was the best, just that people have been doing it. Yes it's difficult to be consistent, that's why it benefits from a trainer. Check out Fatmagic for an example of someone who flicks from the shoulder. It's done for health and longevity reasons; sometimes the instinctive aiming style will trash a wrist over the years.
The Apple Magic Mouse is the finger aimingtrainer and that might be the reason why it is disliked by many. Since I started gaming on the family iMac with a Magic Mouse I developed this weird finger aiming habit, this was broken after buying an ultralight gaming mouse.
Ahh, the Millenium Chicken Mouse. I feel like it's certainly a good way to start with designing a personal ergonomic mouse, but here's a couple things that come to my mind. 1.) Large contact area. The way the Millenium Chicken shape contours the hand may be rather unwieldy in moving it around. Especially when you pick it up and try to tilt it with a familiar motion. The large contact area also introduces the issue of needing countless mousefeet to lift it up, or risking the bottom deforming enough to create friction with the table. 2.) Weight. The way this mouse is designed, the "wings" and the dome are both solid and while all in all the plastic might not be particularly heavy, I imagine the actual usable surface of the mouse is actually a lot smaller than what this design actually spends volumes of material for. 3.) Contact area. I imagine working with a mouse like that would eventually lead to sweaty hands with all the contact area the hand has against the plastic. I wonder if the area could thus be reduced by only leaving supports reaching all the way to the hand in places where they matter.
Few thing's you should add! 1. Moust feet, less friction would be amazing for how much surface area that thing has. 2. dip it in some sort of rubber/silicone material to add comfort all around 3. add some sort of cushion near the wrist, similar to those anime boob mousepads I think you're onto something big here, I would love to test it out!
But keep in mind that the coating limits the lifetime of the mouse. At some point that stuff will turn back into oil. First it gets extremely sticky, then it feels like peeling off tape that has been in the sun for a couple months. You'll wash your hands constantly, because using the mouse makes you feel as if you just ate a whole bag of chips.

It actually is both because it’s very innovative but still dumb in a certain way In fact it’s still not very ergonomic because our hand isn’t used to be in that position. Even though it lays comfortably, the fingers still have to move a very unnatural way. There are actual ergonomic mouses already to buy and they‘re shaped very differently. With the thumb facing upwards. Please consider that for your second prototype

Keep the indents as they are but add some bevels to remove sharp corners of the crater. Add a button or more to every finger to maximize power usability. I got 10 extra and would need at least 3 more and a wheel for the thumb. My cravings for more buttons was started with Fatal1ty gaming mouse, added by Silverstone Raven (that I had to mod to move some buttons and replace the massive thumb wheel with a lot smaller one), then a Logitech G300 took much away, though introduced the idea of having two extra buttons on each side on the very front. I'm guessing that rather than being flat against the surface of a table you'd be more comfortable angling them at about 45°.

This is one of the main reasons the inventor of both the joystick and the mouse preferred the former.
i think a vertical configuration would be best for reducing wrist strain long-term, but that does look extremely comfy, and the play-doh method has to be the best
less harmful to your wrist would be a mouse that doesnt require your hand to lie palm down on the mouse. turn it 90 degrees. palm open, as if youre holding a joystick. way more relaxing for the hand, wrist and lower arm.
Even though the actual A1 is 200$ more, it's a great investment because of the significantly larger size, and when you do big projects like a chair, the actual A1 is the way to go.
I have one thought that nobody in the comments seems to be touching on and that's lifting the mouse to recenter your cursor position. With a normal mouse this is just an involuntary action because it's so easy to lift, but with this design I see no easy way of comfortably repositioning no matter the sensitivity you use. As many have said, a trackball or vertical position would add to comfort/ergo, BUT it would also eliminate this issue. If you don't like the trackball idea then make sure the design allows you to easily lift and reposition when needed. The ONLY other way I know of to deal with this issue of not lifting is to push your cursor on the edges of the screen when you wanna recenter which gets tedious very quickly.
An idea I had for the scroll wheel is to have the scroll wheel with another bigger wheel in the front. so it would be a when that you scroll that scrolls the scroll wheel (then you would have to invert the main scroll wheel in the software.)
I had the same idea! :) I was concerned that there may be some slippage between the two wheels, which may make it frustrating when you're trying to get that precise, single-click scroll.
Or a three wheel solution to prevent the inversion. And against slippage the wheels could be gears with teeth. The middle wheel would grip onto the "finger wheel" on the inside, that way the touched surface is still nice, but everything is tight.
@@HappyBeezerStudiosthree wheel is unnecessary, just use software or have one of the scroll wheels reversed (though I think the idea of 2 scroll wheels is worse then 1)
The thing is its the best only for your hand specifically, thats why even ergonomic mouses still arent completely comfortable cause they hwve to fit a wide variety of hands

I have small hands so when I finally found a mouse I liked I just bought 3 or 4, but this seems like a great option if you're willing to put in the work
Probably should get custom circuit board to raise the mouse wheel and make sure to get some padding at the base of the mouse, there's a reason we use mouse pads and that weird shiny plastic at the bottom of the mouse. Other than that probably model your hand in as well and cut off all the loose material from the sides.
Though I wouldn’t think that it’s ugly, I’d think that it’s very interesting, it kinda looks like a pillow for your hand. And if I saw someone with that I wouldn’t think “that’s really ugly” I’d think “hmm, I wonder why it’s designed like that and what that shape is meant to achieve.” And then I’d ask you about it. It’s really cool.

Custom-makes a mouse using equipment that costs hundreds of dollars more than buying a decent ergonomic mouse, chooses to _not_ make it a trackball mouse.
One thing I'd suggest for version 2 is taking those long tails that support your wrist, trimming them down, and adding padding to them so it's a soft malleable surface for your wrist to lay and flex in instead of a bouple of hard shelves your wrist will bump up against when making finer wrist turns on the mouse.

This was like a YT short expanded. This man spend a crazy amount of time editing in addition to making the thing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Yt shorts are just longer videos shortened down, not the other way round. Isnt that the whole point of them?
I hate the fact that this feels just like a short but longer. The constant jump cuts and the way he speak so fast with short sentences feels unnatural for a normal video.

I'm sure there's plenty of old TV this person hasn't watched... But they're here. On this random maker RUclips channel. Annoyed that they aren't watching an old TV show. Because they chose to be here and watch this. For some reason. And found it unenjoyable. But they still watched it. For some reason. Then wasted time complaining about it. I HAD THE PLAY-DOH IDEA FROM THE VERY START I WAS YELLING AT YOU TO USE PLAY-DOH
this might be the best ad i've ever seen
I vaguely remember that hands, in their most natural and (supposedly) most comfortable position, don't sit flat. When you think about it, when your hands are at your side, your palms are oriented toward your body.
Invert right and left click, this helps.
The standard bambulab mouse is also comfortable 😂
Can you link the schematic or file of the mouse please?
less harmful to your wrist would be a mouse that doesnt require your hand to lie palm down on the mouse. turn it 90 degrees. palm open, as if youre holding a joystick. way more relaxing for the hand, wrist and lower arm.
I just lived how fast paced and quick the video was
Really appreciate it

Even though the actual A1 is 200$ more, it's a great investment because of the significantly larger size, and when you do big projects like a chair, the actual A1 is the way to go.
3:28 looks like a chicken
Delicious chicken
Real
Thats what im thinking now, and 3:29 looks like a spider
This sounds like a stealth ad.
Its a whole ass ad. Just look at the description and notice the non stop ball licking
The ONLY other way I know of to deal with this issue of not lifting is to push your cursor on the edges of the screen when you wanna recenter which gets tedious very quickly.
oh yes.. i've always wanted a chicken shaped mouse. that's exactly what I needed
i thought it looked more like a frog ngl
An idea I had for the scroll wheel is to have the scroll wheel with another bigger wheel in the front. so it would be a when that you scroll that scrolls the scroll wheel (then you would have to invert the main scroll wheel in the software.)
I had the same idea! :)
I was concerned that there may be some slippage between the two wheels, which may make it frustrating when you're trying to get that precise, single-click scroll.
Or a three wheel solution to prevent the inversion.
And against slippage the wheels could be gears with teeth. The middle wheel would grip onto the "finger wheel" on the inside, that way the touched surface is still nice, but everything is tight.
@@HappyBeezerStudios that would work but you couldn't click the scroll wheel so you would need a sliding mechanism. so that you could click.
@@HappyBeezerStudiosthree wheel is unnecessary, just use software or have one of the scroll wheels reversed (though I think the idea of 2 scroll wheels is worse then 1)

The problem is that the mouse may not fit for some people's hands. So I suggest you to make different sizes of them before selling it to the market!
The design is very human
This is almost exactly what ive spent the last 8 months developing for my Masters XD almost right down to the same printer
Needs those little teflon stick-on "gliders" underneath.
You're looking for the word skates, also I prefer glass mouse skates.
there's quite a bit to mouse design
even for custom shapes you dont necessarily want to restrict where your fingers can move for example
EXACTLY what I was thinking, at least from a gamers perspective, there are 3 ways we move a mouse, arm, wrist and finger motion. I feel like this design limits you to arm motion
My mouse does not hurt my hand. Its the unnatural position of the shoulder that hurts.
Congrats on solving a problem that nobody has. You area true Engineer
Someone tell this man joysticks exist, also, setting up rest spaces every once in a while and taking good care of your body by excercising and stretching would already solve most of your problems

Never in my life have I complained about a mouse being uncomfortable. I didn't even know that was possible
The amount of friction on this mouse is crazy
I thought the excact same from the beginning. It is not a mouse for making snaping movements.

Bruh, if the sponsorship is based on view count and his most-viewed video didn’t even reach 200k, now with this one hitting 2.7 million views, the company will have to pay him much more than the maximum of what they expected. Lmao.
Good for him though.
