Guys please note as of now and time of filming the official USA Seiko website still doesn't list these so the price is based off the canadian and a guess. Sources have told me 1850usd. but i can see it coming in at 1500usd. which would make a lot more sense to me. But will update when Seiko finally puts it up on usa website.

One month ago I bought the SBDC029 SEIKO Shogun Titanium with the titanium bracelet for 900 $. This is my first automatic watch and I have been wearing it every day. I love this piece of art
I'm surprised that watch is still available. I bought mine brand new a little over a year ago and paid just a little less. I absolutely love the watch. Probably my favorite watch I own.

Rodolfo, I bought mine off of eBay from a dealer in Japan for $877. He had six watches available at the time but has since sold all of them. I'm wearing the watch right now. I absolutely love it.
Fantastic video! I've watched it a few times now. I own this watch and the older Shogun. I absolutely love them both. The original Shogun is still my favorite watch in my collection. Between the lightness of the Titanium and the beautiful design of the watch, it's hard to beat. If I could change one thing though, it would be the horrible pin and collar system for the bracelet. I hate it!
The overall look of the older Shoguns look more Japanese armor-ish compared to the new ones. The new gen looks like a cross between the Samurai and Monster with a more streamlined hand set.

Seiko are definitely masters at making a large watch wear well on a small wrist. I'd certainly consider one of these but I'd have to try it first.

I have the previous Shogun and really enjoy it. For me the cyclops is good, but not crazy about the two tone bezel.
The Cartier bracelet is a good trade off. She deserves it. Been buying wife Tiffany but going with the Love Bracelet next. That’s the equivalent to a timeless Seamaster/sub/santos but for women.

Great video again Falling Titan. You're on a Seiko roll lately. I have to agree calling out Seiko...for almost $2k, a misaligned chapter ring is inexcusable. It wouldn't happen with a $2k Swiss or German watch. You could have an Oris Aquis/Rado Captain Cook/new Sinn 105GMT etc for same or less (granted, non titanium) but with much better QC. Its a shame. Seiko are upping their game and making really desirable watches but if they keep increasing their MSRPs... they need to increase QC as well 😼
Great to see a reveiw on this! Its a beautiful update. I love Titanium especially for a larger tool watch. BUT, bracelet is a disapointment, my Tissot touch for much less has a Titanium milled clasp. Honestly I was pretty excited about this peice until I saw the price. Hard to put this beside a 3rd gen Sumo and justify the almost 2x price or beside a new MM200, which is soo stunning and seems a big step up for slightly less. I never got the feeling the original Shogun was a big seller, sadly think that wont change without a price correction.

She is right with cartier bracelets. 's' the Panthere one and the screw one (love), and you get to spend in smaller sized watches or more dressier ones...
That shogun wpuld be great if slightly smaller cause otherwise it would be a real suby contender and a great strap monster, with this dark grey /toolish color...
Everybody has been losing their minds over the 143 but I got one of these instead. Titanium is just more special to me.
The watch is beautiful... Love the different metallic colored colors and finishes... Plays well on a Titanium watch, but for increased prices, they need to increase their QC and give something else in return. The chapter ring issues, etc need to be solved already.
Yes altho it looks very nice overall... i needed something more. a special dial, perfect qc and better bracelet.

Honestly I wish the whit dial came with the bracelet option.
"practically the same" lol, everything about it is different my vato. The movement alone is a lot better, and more power reserve, over 20hrs more. Its all titanium, completely more quality and better metal than steel. Saphire Crystan compared to the cheap plastic glass. There are about 4-5 other major improvements.
I'll wait for a mini shogun.
Had one, sold it! Bezel and chapter ring sis not align. Also the bracelet is not what it should be at this price point! Until they sort out their QA, I’ll let you enjoy Seiko..

Hi, very honest reviews👍. I know you're big fans of Seiko, but do you do Citizen review? They launch a new Promaster Mechanical Divers NB6004. It's a full titanium, 28,800vph, high magnetic resistant 16,000A/m, and a very solid mill ratcheting clasp.
Nice. I do have some citizen but not that new one. Its not a big seller at Kavar so they do not order every model so my choice is usually older citizens. So I hardly review it. I did only the blue angels nighthawk.
The Seiko rep hosted a show and tell at one of the ADs here in AZ and was able to check this one and the white dial version. They are really nice but I was not convinced about the premium. I’d rather save a bit more and get a MM300 with the better movement. Cheers!

The white dial version on LX style rubber is the pick of the new shoguns. That stamped clasp on the titanium bracelet is cheap.

It is pressed as well, but looks less obvious on this one.
I've owned most of the iconic Seikos and the Original Shogun was the only watch I ever owned which looked great on anything. It was also the only watch I regret selling, something done only because I hit financial difficulties. But $1800 for the next gen? With that annoying cyclops that it just doesn't need and is a stupid Rolex nod? No thanks. My advice is to hunt down a used Gen 1.
Just a thought. Seiko has released so many upgraded versions of existing models.

That is an interesting one. I think seiko would be wise to follow your thoughts. The aftermarket has made titanium cases I have one and would like an original seiko one for sure. The 5KX desk divers are a good start into cutting into modders wild skx mods but they need an upgraded version with 6r35! 100% agree!

My Shogun is pre-Prospex markings... very classic look. I'm not digging the large "X"s they use now.

As an old Seiko nut, it's hard to justify the newer 'mid-range' Shoguns and such when my 1st gen MM300 cost less.
My first gen Shogun (SBDC007) I bought as a beater... now it's a collectable.
I'm a sucker for titanium automatic divers, so this is a strong 'maybe'... but I really need to see more value than sapphire and a slight movement upgrade offer.
I can honestly see my Orient collection expanding in the next year or two.
It really looks like the SRPB51 on a quick view... handset and case is different, but the overall effect is very similar to the plane-jane Samurai.

I was with you until...the clasp! Nooo, Seiko what are you thinking? I have a titanium citizen atessa cc9075 which has a milled titanium clasp, which also has on the fly adjustments. Titanium is no excuse for a stamped clasp at this price level.

Back a decade ago Seikos were charming and any problems (poor bracelets and qc) were excusable due to the price. Now for these prices there is no way they'll compete with the same problems continuing. Hold this and an Oris Aquis in your hands and you'll feel the difference in quality. A stamped clasp at this price?

You are correct I actually reviewed the new Oris 400. Please check out that review. But the auras is almost double the price to be fair with the in-house movement
Love this thing even though citizen, Oris, and micros make watches with better movements and bracelets. The bracelet on the shogun is a joke. Single link is for $300 watches. Even Oris has 3 link. Citizen has better titanium hardening and a much better movement and build quality. But man this thing looks great compared to all the retro inspired stuff out there now. I’d like to try the white shogun or the special editions with bicolor lume, but I can’t help myself spending more $ and will have to fight myself to not buy a SLA diver for over $3-4k😅

@@EscapementWatch Buy from a a dealer that offers returns, if you can't hold it in hand before buying... I've likely been blessed in only having one out of a dozen or so Seiko divers having crappy alignment. So far, I've returned 1 Seiko watch for bad QC... and the dealer hand selected a replacement that was perfect.
Mine purchased in Japan was perfect.

I was so excited when I got this watch BUT the band and the lock ist made so cheap. It is embarrassing and a shame for Seiko in this price range. The 43,5 mm are perfekt for me. But the band kill my feelings to this watch.
You can technically pass down a watch to your daughter and it'll mean just as much! Girls are beginning to show more and more presence in the horology world. All watches can be unisex now. Can you picture your daughter wearing this beautiful Shogun? I definitely can! Let's break the stigma of male watches and female watches. Wear what you like and share this love with your daughter.

I know it might seem miniscule but I'm considering unsubscribing from your channel bc I hate shit like that. I know you're not a shill like some of these other ass clowns on here like Bruce Williams and Teddy Baldy but it comes off a bit "shilly".
Secondly, please do any weighing, time graphing, final measurements by yourself. Trust me, we're gonna take your word and don't need it measured in front of us (ignore this if you're doing it on purpose to prolong the video for contractual reasons with Kavar or bc you're trying to earn a little extra from the amount of time the video is watches by your audience).
Thanks for the grats and input! For the broll its blurry because 2 things my rig disintegrated so i had to use a make-shift one and this seiko week thing has me rushing each video. I work daily this youtube channel is a hobby side project for me. Was telling the wife actually the other night that I should stop youtube because altho the channel is doing great the time it takes is killer and not sustainable for sure. but for now its still fun for me. Kavar likes to have their name in the beginning and they help me out so its only 10seconds. But I can try to shorten it in the future. Some subs like to see the timegrapher live. some even ask me to keep the sound on they love the beep sound. so of course i can't make everyone happy.
The lock is made so cheap trash
The pin and collar system is the WORST way to hold a bracelet together! Why stick to this ridiculous design?
It is the most secure, set it and forget it design. 2nd place is push pins and third screws. But pins and collars if you do not install 100% correct can fall out. There is a learning curve and it is difficult.
