Thanks for the review. I love both but bought the SBDC125 because the 127 blue dial would compete with my Seiko SBDC065. Having said that, I could be happy with both the 125 and 127.
Just picked up the SPB185. Love the look of the steel bezel. You don't see that much from Seiko so had to go all steel. Seiko is knocking it out of the park these days.

I saw the SBP185 with the stainless steel bezel yesterday, it just kinda popped out of the display case at me. Stunning! And I love the matt black dial. The finishing to me is excellent, I love how the bracelet and case brushing is so fine and well done, yet not as blingy as a full polish. Was in the market for a 6r35 for a while and couldn't quite decide what to get, until this beaut turned up! Debated for days between the 185 & 187; went with the 185 in the end because the monotone and steel bezel is just too unique!

The watch is perfect for those who work in healthcare! The red stop sign second had, the understated monochrome, the movement +4's/ day, and best of all the low height! It melts right into my 6.75 which is perfect because almost all dive watch models from seiko and other companies are much too tall, 13.5mm+. Also, the way seiko does their coin edge on models like, SBDC051, 101 and even the Willard. Has a separation lip that has the opportunity to get stuck on a patients skin possibly skin causing breakage, which is a concern for lots of patients especially those vulnerable to that breakage. A big reason for me wanting to sell my 051. This watch is a dream!
This or the submariner? Been having a really hard time deciding. Initially I was set on the sub because of it's wonderful thickness at only around 12 mm and then I found out that this SPB is also only 12.5mm!!!! Which is just absolutely incredible for these divers. Leaning toward the SPB due to the steel bezel which I think looks better than ceramic.
Amazing video as always Falling Titan and so happy to see the Side x Side comparisons with other models to help with the decision. I'm proud owner of the SPB147 and I think the SBP185 is my next choice. I'm missing a blue dial from my collection but as other comments noted... its a lot more rare to get a full SS Bezel/Case/Bracelet from Seiko, esp in a wearable size for 6.5" wrist. This will be perfect and a superb value alternative to many more expensive Swiss SS watches. 👏👌
The 185 is the one I have on my radar. Only the l2l of almost 49mm is giving me a bit of a headache. That actually was the reason behind my question if the new rubber straps would work on it. And to bring down the weight of course. I like it light and easy on my wrist. But that thing is a stunner for sure. Thanks as always for the great video FT 👍👍👍

Just make sure you never hold an ever brilliant steel high end Seiko in your hand it has a white gold luster much better than the 904l that Rolex uses and it is almost double the strength PREN resistance. Although the sunburst dials on many watches are beautiful and obvious, I’m always a fan of a matte finish. I personally don’t like sunburst dials. They look good but I can’t appreciate them. I’ve always loved how matte dials age over time. The sunburst dials kind of stay the same, even an old one. Now I don’t my a gloss but not sunburst.
185 rocks, I like “steelmaster” as a moniker. I like it better than it’s black bezeled cousin. The pure bezel measurement helps to know if it recedes or extends beyond the case width. Thanks!

pitty there is no white line around the date window, compared to the previous model. The SPB185 and SPB187 are still very available till today in 2022, unlike the SPB149J1. I would have preferred that one. Also, what do you think about the fact that the crown is not signed?
I'm ok with no signed crown. It looks clean. I like when they sign it with the full word SEIKO instead of the "S" but they usually only do that on the vintage re-makes. 62mas/KSK etc
I have a Seiko 5 Sports bought on last march 2024,after a month the time runs 2 to 3 mins faster,and now it reached 6 minutes. Please tell me a solution to fix it.

Seiko upped their game with the 051, and the price. I still think the 051 is more interesting than all these new releases, with the possible exception of the Willard. The trouble is they keep pushing the price up with every new model. When are they going to make a ceramic bezel ? I mean if the Chinese can make one on a $100 Watch why can't seiko on a $1000 One ? I' mean seiko seem to be slow nowadays on the basics like sapphire and ceramic, and their alignment should be perfect at that price point too. Please let their next reissue be a poque with a pepsi bezel and gold face. With ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal. I'm sure people would be all over that !!!
ceramic isn't the greatest. it can't patina. the big draw for me of the new willard and the tudor black bay 58 is the aluminum inserts. I'm a big aluminum insert fan. ceramic is so sterile and doesn't make a watch good imo.
@@EscapementWatch to be honest I've only had one ceramic bezel and that's on my captain cook. I don't mind it but I get what you mean about patina. Some of the new omegas look nice with a ceramic as they are Matt rather than glossy. I have the green cook and the ceramic does change shades in different lights. I do love the lacquered bezel on the 051, and I've not scratched mine in 2 years of wear. I suppose it all depends on the watch and your taste. Get a big scratch on a bezel On a new watch that might have cost 2k or whatever is a bit annoying. I just think seiko could offer a ceramic in some of their bezels especially for the 1k mark, as an option.
memorize how it looks from factory. where the wave lines up to which lug or area before its ever opened. and tighten it back to where it was before. I dont know the actual torque numbers but thats how I do it.
42mm divers can be worn everyday like regular watches unlike 44 plus🙄ones.so it is big pros in spite of spb185 design which is perfect. By the way, seiko spb185 is the only watch I know which looks better on picture...in real life nice steel bezel is a bit more shiny for my taste 🤨
Hi great watch and vid. But concerning the alignment of the bezel to the 12 0 clock, some says its off but on some videos it looks fine. I know parallex causes this sometimes. But is the alignment spot on or off? Thanks

for me the bb41 wears to large. this seiko wears similar to a new 41mm sub but cups the wrist better on the seiko. If you have a larger wrist get the bb41

Yeah spending more time with the 185 definitely made me like it more I'm always just drawn to Blue dials *at first* speaking of that the 62 Mass I'm interested in is the blue dial SLA 043
yes I was thinking that as well. I'm going to get a bb58 in for review so maybe I'll change my mind. but i highly doubt it. as the intro said the 62mas urge feels like its DNA level born with you. But let me clarify that I do think the 187 is more interesting still because of its sunray dial blue. while the 185 might seem a bit bland with the no texture...black dial. but Im drawn to it more for whatever reason. but I will usually recommended the 187 because I always try to think what will my sub like more.

I feel that 185 wears a bit bigger than 187 due to the silver colored bezel. Also the blue of 187 is quite subdued and pops when light hits it. Hence thinking to add 187 to my collection early next year.
Just start moding watches. Buy a san martin 62mas, install a 62 style seiko dial and bezel insert. Scratch the itch for a fraction of the price. I bought a SLA017 when they dropped. When the prices shot up i sold it and bought an explorer. Regretted it and did the san martin mod. Trust me, it scratches the itch.
I've been modding for years. The fake seiko's however, never scratch the itch. Maybe for a month but in the end they all feel very empty to me. just my personal experience from modding for years and still do as a side business locally. I reviewed the san martin. seems like everyone loves that fake. mine was probably the only negative review of it.
187 is way nicer. The steel insert ruins the black and the blue in my opinion. This 185 looks like an ugly monster to me, but the beauty is the eye of the beholder.

Go with this. It will age well. The steel stands out and makes it look tough.

I think both wear the same. but this mm200 has more wrist presence with the chiseled out case.

Every SEIKO is going to be a little bit different the one I had in my video was pretty much spot on.

That is the secret measurement indeed, as the SBDC061 is very much the same in that regard.

Just start moding watches. Buy a san martin 62mas, install a 62 style seiko dial and bezel insert. Scratch the itch for a fraction of the price. I bought a SLA017 when they dropped. When the prices shot up i sold it and bought an explorer. Regretted it and did the san martin mod. Trust me, it scratches the itch.
I've been modding for years. The fake seiko's however, never scratch the itch. Maybe for a month but in the end they all feel very empty to me. just my personal experience from modding for years and still do as a side business locally. I reviewed the san martin. seems like everyone loves that fake. mine was probably the only negative review of it.
@@EscapementWatch ive had mine for a 6 months or so, it does the job. The SLA is a great piece but imo not worth the price they are asking now.

Is it me or the hands too thin? Lacking the classic seiko fatty hands
its probably optical illusion because of the half and half polish and brushed hands. they seem perfect in person.
187 is way nicer. The steel insert ruins the black and the blue in my opinion. This 185 looks like an ugly monster to me, but the beauty is the eye of the beholder.
