    On this episode we compare two of Seiko's absolute best releases into the $1000 Diver market. Both models take inspiration from the brand's rich catalog going back to their beginnings in the Diver space, but adding a few modern twists that, dare I say, improve upon these iconic aesthetics. Watch as compare, contrast, and get my ramble on. Let me know what you all think in the comment bellow, thanks guys!

    I agree these are the best that Seiko has to offer. I've been collecting Seikos for 10 years and my SBDC125 Steel MM200 is my favorite ever. I may have to get your blue dial 127. I've already sold 2 watches for to fund a 127. Thanks for the excellent comparison.

      McMahon-----Is the SBDC125 in a higher tier than your SBDC51 or SBDC061 or the Blue hole version???? Does the 125 beat the Tunas also?
      Thanks Man.

      @@JeffreyMcMahon Good to know. Just watched your SOC video after posting my question. The 125 and 127 with a Tuna would make a nice Tripleplay collection. Or the 125 and 127 with 2 Tunas would make a nice Grandslam collection. Of course a solar G Shock with atomic time is a nice final touch

    Both on my wish list. It would be closer if MM200 R was black dial, but the classic clean lines of 62 MAS and that Grey dial put it over the top. I love it, 2022 goal.

    I looooove my sbdc101 so much. I prefer every detail on it over the MM. And the funny thing about it to me is that I was in love with the MM300 for years and wanted one, but it looked ridiculous on my 6.5" wrist. The 101 just left me stunned when I first saw it and your initial video was the last bit of research I did on it before purchasing it. I love the dial, the case shape, the fine edge bezel, the polishing, the Diashield, and the three o'clock bezel. And it has been awesome on the Uncle Seiko tropic strap as well as its bracelet.
    cool vid man! keep up the good work. you have a good eye for detail, solid delivery and great camera work.

  • @khronokraze
    @khronokraze 3 года назад +7

    Spot on. Although both you could say have Seiko design DNA, I'd say the "62max" is more indicative of the styling of the dive watch masses around the 60s. Where as the "mm200" has more Seiko design cues that stand out to this very day... case sculpt and 4 o'clock crown to name just a couple off the top of my head.
    I thought I could be happy with just the "62max" as my one definitive Seiko dive watch. But, I do believe I will need a "mm200" also. Both very comparable, but different enough to not feel an unjustified overlap. I hope that makes sense and I said that correctly.
    Yes, I could be completely with both.
    Have my current SBDC105 Cappuccino Gilt dial now and add the sbdc127 blue dial later. Brown and blue dials will be very complimentary to each other. And, I know the WCWC NATO strap that could work on both.

    I have to say, the side by side comparison really helps a lot!
    Interestingly, the MM200 is the wider, thinner watch of the two on paper but their looks are the direct opposite to their paper stats! The MM200 case really makes it appear chunkier than it is while the wide bezel and stick indices makes the 62MAS looks very expansive from the top.
    This might be the most difficult decision one has to make choosing a Seiko!

    • @tilio9380
      @tilio9380 3 года назад +1

      God I really wish Seiko had put the smaller links of the 62MAS bracelet on the MM200!

    • @jimmyv.495
      @jimmyv.495 3 года назад +1

      @@tilio9380 I like the differences between the 2 because I can rationalize getting both. The 143 has that classic diver tool watch look. And the 187 has that modern diver dressy watch look. When these start getting discounted 25% or more, I am all in on both. Under a $1000 and these are a steal for what you get.

  • @garyk8285
    @garyk8285 3 года назад +1

    I agree. Dial looks better on 62MAX. Case design is more Seiko design language which I prefer also on the MM200. Not sure I'm a fan of blue dial and Black bezel colour combo, nor that 3 o'clock marker next to the date which is off to the side. But it's minor, but enough to not make me upgrade.
    Mm200 needs a sunburst grey dial, and a date window/border, then I'm all in getting it. For now will probably stick with my SBDC061. As much as I like both of these watches, for the price difference I'd want it near perfection to my tastes.
    If I had to choose between either, maybe 101. MM200 is more masculine though.

    I do not know why but Seiko divers have that power of attraction over me. Like a cat being pulled to catnip. But 1k is a lot of money. The 62MAX would profit from a chapter ring making watch looking deeper and not so flat. The baby MM could have signed crown and framed date window. Both watches should have date at 6. Bracelets are good but I've got few Zelos watches that cost 1/3 of the Seiko price and have bracelets that you can fold like a origami. Seiko must get better clasps and bracelets and than they can have my hard earned 1k$.

      Because it's a Prospex watch that is 62MAS inspired, so X as in Prospex

    The mm200 is a disappointment personally. The SPB143 is a grand slam from start to finish.

    why would you buy one of these over a zelos?...........zelos offers so much more for the money........seiko has become very overrated in recent years

      I did, lol and I have tons of Zelos too. Not everyone buys stuff specifically with pure objective value in mind, some people just like what they like and buy what they like.

      Thoughts on the Rado captain cook 37mm limited edition. You think compared to the Seiko SPB143 is overpriced? I’m kinda curious thanks
