One month ago I bought the SBDC029 SEIKO Shogun Titanium with the titanium bracelet for 900 $. This is my first automatic watch and I have been wearing it every day. I love this piece of art
I was just randomly watching seiko watch videos and came across this! I like the black dial but you've made a great case for the white dial. Photos make it look hard to read but that lume is amazing.
They do on grand seiko. Ceramic is bad on an actual tool watch as it can shatter. These bezel inserts can dent or scratch, but never crack. And are much easier and less costly to replace than ceramic. This isn’t a Sub or a seadweller. It’s for people who don’t ask Reddit if it’s ok to shower in a a diver watch. The Shogun is cool because it is utilitarian and ditches the stale “retro” trend present at all levels of the watch market stratum.
How do they justify that price for a 6R35 movement? To me, this is overpriced by about $400-500. The days of Seiko providing good value seem to be over.
Love the shogun white dial but price is not justifiable! Over here in Malaysia, I can get it for 950 USD. Waiting for it to drop a bit to consider the purchase.
Just to clarify that I deal with Seiko all the time & if you buy from an authorised professional watch dealer store, the Seiko watches are never misaligned. Only grey market & rejected watches that have somehow left the manufacturing plant where these watches are made would have been placed in a recycling facility and somehow they ended up for sale. Remember, if your Seiko purchase is misaligned, take it back for an exchange or a full refund. It’s the only way to stop these reject watches getting on the market.
You forgot the term blasphemous rip off. For your money you can do much much better. There are 100s of swiss watches that are not disposable for less money. Do your research.
@@speedzero7478 yes I 100% agree with you and that's why this watch is not a good choice. For your money you can buy something else. You missed my point.
At 7:59 you say about the Seiko; "obviously, it's no Seamaster, no, it doesn't compete with it". Then you compare it to the Omega:-D Can you explain why you feel it is not a competitor to the Seamaster. Most of my Omega watches were +- 4 to 6 s/d. My Planet Ocean 8500 ran less than 1 s/m. Most of my 6R35, 6R15 and 4R3X Seiko watches run +- 4 to 6 s/d with a few within +- 2 s/d. Both brands have 3 hands, date window and great looks. With the Seiko you can get both new Shoguns and several new Sumo watches for less than a Seamaster. You are right the Omega does not compete with the Seiko. Keep up the good work making your informative watch videos.
Seiko has been raising their prices and lowering their quality for years. SO overpriced. Anyone thinking about spending that kind of money on that watch should shop around and check what the competitors are offering for the same money. They'll forget about the Seiko real fast. I really love that minute hand though.
I like it but you are paying at least $400-500 USD for "Seiko" on dial. I have a full titanium watch (head/bracelet) with a swiss Sellita and surface hardening that I got on Kickstarter for about $500 USD.
@Lee yeah I'm in the UK, the dollar price was a translation of the pound sterling price at time of posting. It is a nice watch, just a little large in my opinion.
My Favorite Seiko, i've been wanting to pull the trigger on one for a while. Congrats on getting one, i'm talking to my AD ...we haven't come to terms...:)
I have my eye on it too but want to wait and purchase one secondhand. My watch collection tends to be fluid and I don't want to lose my shirt if I do decide to flip it sometime in the future. That being said, I believe this model is a future classic!
Looks A LOT like my $300 Samurai. I could see sapphire, movement, strap, and titanium upgrades maybe doubling the price, but 4x more seems like a stretch. It's a beauty though!

Good choice
far out dude
I bought this on sale last month. 50% discount from an AD.
Less than the list price of some King Samurai.
Your review had put it on my radar...
Is the crown made of titanium ?
That’s really one of the best looking Seikos on the market right now. It’s got such a clean solid look to it. Great purchase.
I got lucky and ordered it for 740 dollars. I think this is a steal for what you are getting. I'm excited to have my first all titanium diver.
Have this black dial version and it is my daily driver. Love the sharp look of this watch.

Great review as always! But I have a question I'm torn between this or a Doxa 300t? What's your thoughts... thanks
For their higher priced watches why can't Seiko put ceramic bezels on the watch?

Nicest white dial Seiko I've seen in a while.
Seiko added added a sapphire crystal and a date magnifier but they also added HEFTY price tag 😧 That being said it’s a beautiful watch!
How do they justify that price for a 6R35 movement? To me, this is overpriced by about $400-500. The days of Seiko providing good value seem to be over.
Truly I tell you, you are correct
I believe it's the TITANIUM
Yup this is such a rip off I dont understand why people pay that much for it. It's a disposable movement as well !
Robs thank you to the jeweler for allowing him to purchases a no date at retail.
100%

Very cool looking Seiko! Congrats Rob!
Got to see in person. Loved it
The bezel is really throwing me off. Why only the 30 and 45?! Looks so unbalanced.
I’m still on the honeymoon with my Shogun! 🎰
This looks great

Love the watch. Too rich for my blood. I’m perfectly happy with my white King Samurai.
That is grade 5 Titanium! Good value at that price!
Rob - how does this compare to the Oris Aquis titanium? With discounts they're comparable in price (w/ Oris on rubber).
This is my new fave seiko! Lots of cool options at 1200
Looks great on your wrist Rob. That price though! Seems way high...
Right on! This is one of my favorites in the current Seiko lineup. Not limited edition or any of that nonsense. We appreciate that, Seiko.

Alot of people just like the look of seiko :)
Bought the black dial for 425 euros just now. Used .!

Rob, what is your review after living with it? 😀thx
I sold it soon after. Only wearing sub. Not sure that helps lol
@@RandomRobReviews submariner? What didn't you or did you like about the spb191 besides the $.
Love those slim case backs, they need to transition all watches to that style case back

these are down to $740 on the dive strap as of today.. $870 on the bracelet.. not so popular by the looks of things..

it's a Titanium Bezel insert.
Lose the dumb cyclops and I’m in.
You can remove it easily.
@@mrcasioak1521 I just bought a new Seiko, oh, let me do surgery on it. No thanks.
Bingo. And I'm not paying even more to replace that.
For about half of the MSRP 🤔

Very nice
that is a tasty piece!
I'm so disappointed with this watch, after a year and half that I've owned it, in 21 hours, it gets 1 minute and 50 seconds behind.
I don't care about white dial. I prefer the black one.
shogun a pelagos fxd killer
You had me until the price
I must be in the minority, I hate what they’ve done to the Shogun, I much prefer the older versions 🤷🏻♂️
Why doesn't Rolex do a white dial subby?
I love white dials less than you do, but that one is cool!❤️
Killer watch! Wanna have one!
Sorry I missed out on this beauty
