The progression of your studio is exciting. Glad to see the time and energy you put into sharing your knowledge to make us better is paying off. Proud of you bro! 👍
Finally someone that explains this foreals ive been wanting to know this for years and right now i applied it to one of my mixes and its literally a whole different world
The way you have set up sends and busses with short/ long reverb reminds of the importance of the shortest details we should give attention to since once vocals are in, they are the most important aspect, something is we can forget if not working with just audio stems of instruments and having multiple midi/ticks track setup and available to play with and get distracted
Yo there’s a plugin called silencer by wide blue sound that loads any reverb plugin with built in sidechain capabilities. It’s patent pending but basically resets the reverb every sample so u get an insanely clear big reverb with little to no decay and mud
I Can't Thank you enough for this.. I Was doing everything except this trick and That's why was'nt getting the reverbish texture I want in my Mixes. Lots Of Love Bro 💙. You are a life Saver.
devvon Thank you for all the explanations you provide. You are a beautiful person and I hope you always try to help us. By God, your numbers are simple for me for all the effort you work. Please always keep going. I am one of your fans and I always support you. I love you.
I put off watching this video for like a week (busy but had it tabbed). Was wondering what I should do for this new mix I'm finishing up and this was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Devvon 🖤😂
are saying that, send the copy of a vocal into a ghost track and sidechain the ghost track into the reverb track compressor? using that ghost as a trigger since it doesn't have an output?
I want to add to this amazing technique that for me turning on the pre-fade option on the send turns to be more affective also you can control. Timing of the reverb with attack and release ( a faster release help notice the effect more ) and having a compressor with knee control helps even more ! Thanks to Devon for this amazing videos U a Legend G
Great video, is there a reason you do your routing the way you did here? When I sidechain reverb iv always put the compression on the reverb aux and have my vocal bus trigger it. Just wondering if there’s a difference
This week I’m watching your videos bro 😎 But how expensive is this mic you used for this video and the name of it Another question is can any microphone condenser do this, because this vocals sounds nice and clean
jus wonderin if tha reverb used for this video was Pro R? if not then what reverb did u use? btw thanx for these kinda videos. you've been my #1 source for production content for sometime now. u are highly appreciated
Took me years to figure this out on my own thru trial and error. Glad newer engineers have resources like this to not have to go through that frustration I went through. 👌🏽
If we create bus5 and turn up to 0, aren‘t we doubling the vocal? So it‘s getting louder. Should‘t we change the output to no output to prevent this? (Logic user here)

Dope vid. i not only use this on reverb, but i also use this with the delays!
man you make the best videos bro! my game is so upped! thank you thank you. best delivery and so clear!! thank you!!
Couldn't have been better timing with this video!!! Been doing a deep dive on improving the reverb in mixes. Thanks man!
ive been trying to mix some tracks just for fun and this has been a major issue ive noticed, i appreciate your vids man they're hella informative
You the GOAT brother. Thank you for keeping it going and I love seeing your journey!
Thanks for all the help Devvon 👊🏽

This reminds me of how CLA uses a long pre-delay (like 150 ms or so) to do the same effect. This is a great idea!
Yo there’s a plugin called silencer by wide blue sound that loads any reverb plugin with built in sidechain capabilities. It’s patent pending but basically resets the reverb every sample so u get an insanely clear big reverb with little to no decay and mud
always coming through with epic advice! 🙏

So well put! I can’t wait to try this
Also great on synths

Thank you so much for this!
Never even thought about this. Such a great technique
Quick easy idea!
Just found your channel through this video and immediately subscribed! Thanks for the super helpful video, you made it clear to understand🤘🏽
I put off watching this video for like a week (busy but had it tabbed).
Was wondering what I should do for this new mix I'm finishing up and this was exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks Devvon 🖤😂
This was super helpful, really great tip and well explained!!
Great vid. This helped me.
Yooo Devvon! This was a fire video I needed this information! Could you possibly make a video about mid/side techniques for mixing?
"don't skip don't skip don't skip" lol so good! Great video thanks!
Beautiful piece, thumb up bro❤
great advice🙌
🔥🔥🔥 I just started doing this with the limiter in fl
That’s a good idea too bro thanks! I use Logic tho lol
@@NeedsBetterMixing no problem!
I can never get the perfect amount of compression with the limiter. Do you have any tips?
I've been watching you for years ive learn so much fam thanks for always giving game
Great video, thanks for this tip! It gave me the answer I was looking for on a female vocal.💪🏿
Great idea...sounds better side chained
Great video bro!
thank you
its the lingo did know i could do this
Genius! Effing GENIUS!
Blessings my bro from Jamaica
thank you Boss❤❤❤
Please help me! On my waves Rcompressor there is no side chain option.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Devon saved my life.

Thanks for always giving us 💎💎

Amazing video. Album coming soon lolololol
Thank you for everything you do 🔥

Great tip bro Im definitely trying this
I believe knowing how to mange your reverbs and delays is key for high quality sound
please send this reverb I need it
the best one ever 🤣🤣🤣 i like 2:12 part
Loved the tutorial and your energy! I have Rcomp also but in reaper I can't find the sidechain selection :(
Great video, is there a reason you do your routing the way you did here? When I sidechain reverb iv always put the compression on the reverb aux and have my vocal bus trigger it. Just wondering if there’s a difference
Literally that’s what I did so ur doing it just like I did
Wow 🔥🔥🔥
Bro can you do a similar tutorial for Ableton Live please
Please show us your reveb setting
Why didn't u show the reverb type and settings?
or the eq settings u used to filter and control the reverb?
but great video.
I've seen other people use the same technique except they made the Bus going into the compressor be pre-fader. Why would that be?
ty!
This week I’m watching your videos bro 😎
But how expensive is this mic you used for this video and the name of it
Another question is can any microphone condenser do this, because this vocals sounds nice and clean
jus wonderin if tha reverb used for this video was Pro R? if not then what reverb did u use? btw thanx for these kinda videos. you've been my #1 source for production content for sometime now. u are highly appreciated
Can you explain this in FL Studio?
02:12 Your Trap worked bro! 😂😂😂
Mr Terrell what do you think if the big sky reverb?
fire!!!
ur amazin
If you were going for a soaring sorta Pink Floyd-esque lead guitar sound, might you do this too?
You should do tutorials for bandlab
Question can I make the bus on the lead aux track instead of all the vocal tracks ? Will it still work the same or will it sound different?
Are the vocals and reverb linking through only side chain ? I don’t understand how the routing is done between the reverb insert and vocals
😅 devon your so dramatic😂 bact to the video😂😂😂😂🎉😂
Lmfaooo
I always say this 😂😂😂😂
hi @HelpMeDevvon I didn't really understand the process for the bus to do the sidechain with the Rcomp is it possible to explain?
🔥🔥
Greatness
Excus me,excuse me 😅
I love Devon ❤️
Just one question. Did you use more than one voc buss and did you only have reverb on buss 5?
How much to join and be a paid member?
Good❤
Fabfilter Pro R2 includes ducking already👌🏻
Just incase you don’t like the sound of the R2 on a particular song, this can come in handy
Fire
chabon te AMO
Yo I was just about to skip saying you already thought me this with hdelay lol then u popped in 😂
You are a great teacher man more blessing to you....
dope
Nice
Lolx dah was quick i nearly skipped 😂😂
Great
What about phase issue
2:13 that's funny as hell
Genial,🎧💎🎧
Sidechain, simple..
Wow
Took me years to figure this out on my own thru trial and error. Glad newer engineers have resources like this to not have to go through that frustration I went through. 👌🏽
Sideshain
Why can’t you just side chain it to the vocal track? Why do you have to send the vocals to another bus and then side chain that bus?
What frequency are you letting the reverb sidechain at?
depends on the vocals
If we create bus5 and turn up to 0, aren‘t we doubling the vocal? So it‘s getting louder. Should‘t we change the output to no output to prevent this? (Logic user here)
Yeah I had the same thought. Turned my bus to no output and muted and the technique worked
Nice 🔥🔥🔥
❤
did you guys know you can comment like and subscribe?!?!? THA CRAAAZY
😊
Made me comment bro
Why not just increase the predelay
Increasing the pre delay will totally bypass the reverb until that pre determined time ends, sidechaining it will keep the reverb throughout the whole phrase just compressing it to duck underneath until the vocal cuts out
😂😂tears

comment lol I forget
