Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You - Frankie Valli - Muse - Matt Bellamy - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

- OK, this might seem a bit obnoxious but...
I was asked to do a song for a Pepsi Commercial in Russia a few years back.
The song was "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Frankie Valli BUT: they wanted the "MUSE" version!
As I dove into the song I realized that Matt Bellamy had some REALLY tasty guitar parts!
I had the instrumental version I created so I thought I'd give it a go to let you hear my / Matt's interpretation of this classic.
I also was fascinated by how many artists had "covered" the song. (which I am listing below...that's the obnoxious part ha ha as I am going to list them).

You can learn more, Leonora. Listening is enjoyable, but actually singing is REALLY enjoyable, once you learn it. That's why I wish you would learn to sing... for YOU. You would really get a lot of satisfaction from it.

Love your version! Now i want to see the russian commercial ^^
It's been a while since that one came out. Those broadcasts are on the outskirts of this arm of the Milky Way by now.
That was awesome Ken! I’ve always liked that song. There’s a variety of demands on the voice, from soft and smooth to bold and hard. Great job on it.
Thank you, TONI!
I thought you were mainly a rock singer but daaaang, you're quite versatile!
Thanks, Jules!
Interesting how the melody changes with the rhythm :)
How can that be?
Nice work!
Thank you, Gayle!
Its nice to know that I am not the only one who starts falling into a slight English accent when singing a song that an English singer sang. I could hear on words like "Pardon" and the cut off between the words "sight" and "of you". He says it very distinct and you captured that.
Good job and good cover. Very nice. Its your voice but in the style of Matt which is pretty much everything you keep teaching all of us when you say you should strive to only sing in a style, not necessarily an exact impersonation.
I will say this song seems easy to sing for me in both the Frankie Valli version and Muse, they are both in a register that I can do a lot easier than early Matt Bellamy. I have to really focus for the early stuff lol. Oh and a cool little tip I learned from watching Muse perform live, Matt jacks the volume on his mic and then pretty much swallows it to get the buzzy type distortion that sounds like a lo-fi mic. He makes sure his level is in the red and makes it really easy to get his overly distorted sound to his voice. I tried it and it worked pretty good, he is a musical genius so there is that. :)
Thanks for sharing your cover.
Thanks for the thoughts!
I was so excited when I saw this post!!! You did amazing and I LOVE the oldies but goodies!!! 💗💗💗💗
That's awesome, Natural!

OMkar Dandekar Thank you!
recently went to see Frankie Valli on his farewell tour of the UK, he sang this song in Cardiff and the audience went wild. Yours was was a great version too. Thanks.
Wow! That must have been an incredible experience, Chip!
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy Yes Ken it was, my wife and I have been fans since the 1960’s so this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Frankie on his UK farewell tour. All the best from us in South Wales, UK.
Nice job Ken, as always - Going to add this to my karaoke repertoire. Could I request you cover Rod Stewart's 'Maggie May' at some point ?? I think you would do an incredible job of that.
Thanks for the kind words and the song suggestion, Steve!
Atta Boy, Ken... Show off your diverse skills. Obnoxious? It's all about the Benjamine$, brother!
😊
Good job Ken! I just love how the song just starts off slow & then goes into heavy metal.
This version has its mood swings. Sometimes moody is cool.
Yeah man! 🎼 love a bit ov cheese mixed in with a little bit of metal🧀🤘🏼
Awesome job as always brother
Ah, yes. Cheese and iron filings. The breakfast of champions!
I like that you never used any software to make your voice sound better. It is a learning for us to understand the technique behind the song. Keep posting.
Thanks, musicin!
Shooowww boy
Thanks, Marllone!
i love how he used greenscreen lmao
Your video on Ed Sherran was inspiring and this was just a remarkable performance. Are there any fibers in your body that are not incorporated into your vocals? lololol. Two more weeks and I will be taking your lessons. I can't wait Ken.
Kevin
Very cool, Kevin! You will like what happens to your voice after doing the exercises in my course for a while. Are you ready to grow your voice?
Oh, pretty Ken, you look so good, I can't take my eyes of you, Bada, Bada, Bada.... LET ME LOVE YOU. You are just too good to be true.
Are you serenading me, Doc?
YES!
Love it, Ken! It took a lot of control and dynamics to get that sound and it paid off! I learned a lot from this with breath control protecting your vocal chords while still getting an amazing sound! I’d love to send you some samples of my singing to see what I should work on. Love you, brother!
Thanks, Cherie!

@@kentamplin lol ah I'm just ruffling your feathers lol I do have a vintage Viper but based by all those lovely guitars in the background I'd say you're more than covered
Wow! That was better than F.Valli's version! Way to bring that old school song Back to Life
Thanks, Sally!

So many covers of this classic . I had no idea ! Well done,Ken. I would love to see you or one of your students sing a Bread song. Bread is my all time favorite band. Front man David Gates has such an amazing voice !

Who did that one?
The proof is in the singing, wow, I am proud have you as my teacher, I purchased your pro pack course three months ago and still working on it, hopefully one day I will sing half as good as you. Right now I am not try to sing anything above F#. Anything above I have to scream. I have confident in you course and teaching, just keep my head up and work on it.
Thanks for the kind words, gong! Thank you for your kind words!
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Yikes! 😮
RIP MEAN GENE
Is that your new basketball court? 😂 And what about that “guitar vault”? Even Gene Simmons would be jealous 😁 Great stuff as usual bro. Happy New Year to you and your family!
jcoulter43 Happy New Year!
What a surprise! This is one of my favorite of versions of the song. Do you think Matt Bellamy’s style is prone to fatigue or exhaustion? He gets so much ping!
Ping is King, Phi! Bring on the PING! Poor technique can bring on fatigue, but ping is not normally going to be overdone to cause difficulties.
And you sound s little bit like cliff richard.what can you say?
I can say that's a nice compliment!
Can you please please sing "I'm in love with my car" by Queen? I think you have the right raspy voice like Roger Taylor
Thanks for the suggestion, Francesco!
Could you sing some Country?
Maybe " I won't be sorry" by David lee Murphy?
P.S got the course.👍
That's a cool song, richard. He's got a strong voice. That's cool that you got the course. Stick with it. It works! Especially on songs like that.
Just finished my 1st one hour session. What a work out!
Question!
I finished the intermediate exercises, should I repeat these tomorrow or move on?
(Can't wait to hit it again)
"Essa música é antiga ; mas é linda"
Thank you, Jose'!
@@kentamplin "BOM, MUITO BOM É ÓTIMO. ABRAÇO"
Is that a green screen? Confused haha
It doesn't look very green to me.
Nice one baby...lol
Thanks, mo!
Hello from Brazil!!!!!
Hi Ken, I really like your videos and your voice is perfect. Could you please make a video analyzing Dimash Kudaibergen's vocal range F2-B5-F6-D8. Several singing teachers have been impressed by this man's voice and I find it interesting that you take a look at the performances.
Thanks for the suggestion, Sergio!
is it bad to practice head voice until we have a strong chest voice?
It's good to begin stretching chest voice early in your studies, and to work on bridging at the passaggio. It's fine to go into head voice, but give your voice a while to grow before applying head voice strengthening techniques.
I don’t know how to sing anything but rock and metal I’ve put myself in a box so bad
Time to step out of the box and into freedom of choice. Sing anything and everything.
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy sounds good Ken
😁😘❤️🤗
Thank you, Jenifer!

First one!
What is this; the number one "gotta do to be kewl" song for artists and bands?
Or maybe it's the; "If I don't do this, I'll just die" song for artists and bands.
I bet conspiracy theorists could come up with a doozy of a conspiracy with this info.
This song is rumored to contain the fabled "Lost Chord" which will initiate the sequence leading to the implosion of the universe.
Peace out..!bye.
Bye-bye!
You bring back memories with these songs. Back when music was music
And the music was GOOD!
Pretty interesting. I get into geeky musical analytics: This style of song is meant to give the singer a lot of rhythmic freedom in interpretation, but I think 'm hearing Ken sing triplet quarter-notes through the third and fourth beats pretty consistently in the pickups "You're just too" "Can't take my" "You're jusl like," etc. I've struggled with this in my own renditions. When I've listened to Frankie Valli, I think I've heard him mostly start the pick-ups slightly earlier, coming in on the second half of the second beat (after an eighth-note rest), which then allows the first two pick-up notes to be stretched to full quarter-notes and the third eighth-note Frankie ties to an eighth-note delay on the first beat of the next measure. That makes them all equal in length, without Frankie having to resort to triplets. Anyway, this song seems to be sung so lyrically and freely, but there actually is an elusive but organized rhythmical complexity which you don't notice until you try to sing it yourself (and sound rhythmically elusive but keep up with the beat). Good job, Ken!
I don't think anybody is trying to imitate the inimitable style of Frankie Valli.
This is a deffently soul song..not much suiteble to you..you have to give it by rock! Never mind..nice prformer and a good atmosfare..
And backround.
Ha, ha! I love soul sounds and songs. I'm keeping it!
Ok..have fun.
Hi Ken, I hope you don't mind me saying, as soon as you started singing that song I felt it didn't suit your style/voice. I can't put my finger on it, but it didn't sound right, sorry.
I like the way it sounds. Sorry if it didn't float your boat. Some people find it an unlikely sound to come from a Rocker guy. I like to sing a little bit of everything.
@@kentamplin I guess you're right, it's not the sort of sound I'm used to hearing from you. I'm still a fan :)
