    Finally someone said how to make distortion happen in mouth instead of just telling to do it. Thank you

    Thanks! I am here to be able to use that grit as a stylistic advantage/choice in my songs but always in a healthy manner. I have been able to do it without any pain or discomfort, aside from that minimal and natural tension that comes when trying something that in your mind may be kinda grand (because it does sound grand). What I mean is, I am doing it and I acknowledge that going high requires you to be even more relaxed. Just wanted to say that I like it when teachers come up with subjective/inventive terms such as you do because it connects alot better with the feeling we're seeking rather than the "instruction" of it. I got a good vibe from you!

    signed up for your course today, got a quick question - I'm not sure whether the dying-cat sounds I"m making actually sound like screams on a proper microphone. Is there a good beginner's microphone you'd recommend to record yourself and see what it sounds like?

    I could never figure it out. The only way i can do it is like when after a rock gig your voice is...scratchy from yelling...i always could mimic that. There are no side effects or pain, it feels easy and natural. The problems till this day are i can't always do it with with my own tone, lower than my tone, or very high. I have to raise my voice about 1/3 of an octave to be able to do that and the second problem is i sound like Chester Benington. I have a very deep voice so no way i can't sound like metallica or slipknot. Is this the right way of doing it? They sound like they sing deep from throat while im singing raspy from back of my throat close to sinuses. Are there more ways to do it?

    • @matke8723
      @matke8723 4 года назад

      @@RockSingingSuccess Tnx for the reply. I don't yell at all, i can sing distorted in speaking tone, nor am i using tiredness, but as i mentioned, i have to increase the pitch a little for distortion to kick in, so like this i can't sing distorted low pitch, plus distortion that I'm singing sounds like linkin park. So i want to learn how to do some heavy stuff (like andy black) the right way. I'll get your lessons when i get paycheck but i just wanted to see beforehand if there are multiple types of distortion and if anyone can achieve it.

      @@RockSingingSuccess Kindly thanx for this reply. Though I'm an amateur and i have no idea what tone A4 would be i do know that you're right about not knowing how to position because i can feel that. Over the time i managed to find position for lower but it's highly inconsistent. All of this seems too hard to explain to every individual over the course but i hope your course will be good for me.
      I'd be grateful if you could answer me 1 more question. When using distortion often my throat...or vocal chords..would get greasy-like (like after you eat sweets and saliva gets thicker) and that is making singing distortion multiple times harder, so i need to force some more air or cough to remove that thick liquid. Any advice on that? Do singers go through the same?

    Is it true that you should build first the normal singing voice before doing an extreme vocals?

    Interesting, love to learn this, but is this safe for vocal longevity, in short healthy?

    • @RockSingingSuccess
      @RockSingingSuccess  4 месяца назад

      Done with the right placement and not pushed, it only really affects the false cords. It takes some conditioning for them to get used to the extra vibrations, not unlike a new trumpet player’s lips need conditioning for the same. In general, most grit feels like relaxing into a neutral larynx, and screams feels like light head voice. It feels FAR less harsh than it sounds.

    I'm really having trouble distorting from A3 to D4. The tone just won't happen with compression, and the pitch is too low for decompressed distortion to project.

    • @RockSingingSuccess
      @RockSingingSuccess  2 года назад

      You need to focus on the fundamentals of Singing and shaping for distortion using the more sob and thinning side of cry vocal mode. If you’re not in my Rock Singing course, then think of it as not just a top down whimper lifting pressure up into the nasal cavities for a crying quality, but also sobbing and thinking through over-crying/sobbing using more pharynx (back of the mouth) focused /aw/ overtones. In the end, if you really want to get distortion under control, I highly suggest taking lessons.

    • @RockSingingSuccess
      @RockSingingSuccess  2 года назад

      Also, remember that compressed (forward/edging) to decompressed (back, /aw/) distortion is a spectrum, not black or white.

      Is that Hindi? From the rough translation I could do, I think I know what you're asking about. Look up the videos on our channel, "how to belt without strain," "expand your range," and "build your vocal endurance fast." Those should help you begin to stabilize your upper range. Then, when you want to distort up high, you need to focus on a well-cried, thin, mixed voice, rather than pulling chest or pushing. You would benefit a lot more from one-on-one vocal lessons than trying to learn on RUclips, so that the exercises can be tailored specifically to your voice and what you're trying to do.
