This song is… so confusing and beautiful… like it’s such a late disco piece of its type. It’s giving that ‘78-‘79 sound, it was delightfully dated even back then.
This is literally the best song I have EVER heard. The instrumental solos are great and the vocals are even better. This is a true masterpiece that demonstrates how good music was back in the day.

Indeed. At least in the USA. I have some French Disco records from 1983 that use the horns and strings in them. I love it. It gives it that spacey, loung feel from the 50s over a dance beat.
All the music made today is synthesized so all the drumming and beats all sound a like. The music back in 90’s and before that were all produced by real drums and Instruments. If you listen carefully each drum beat and instrument sounds different and unique. There’s a different type of thump that just hits different.

I love that they were still using strings and horns in 1982...those instruments seemed to have disappeared completely from disco music by 1980.

Listen to “Kelly” by Kelly Groucutt. Recorded in ‘81, released in early ‘82. It has plenty of strings in it.
