I love how quickly you caught on to the plot of the song. this song is really genius and when the children's choir brings out the core of the message, don't be afraid, just live. oh guys i really like this song. thank you very much, it was fun to see your reactions. it is even nicer to see you in the future.

A bit of a new way to go for Nightwish, with the children choir being this much present,, Floor is doing some fast phrasing here to, something like she does in the song Shoemaker, kind off i think.but at same time still very Nightwish sounding,.
This song is about leaders, who spread fear in people, religious, political all kind of leaders, they tell that if you dont do it like this, the end is near, and it all bad, but its a lie, the due date have passed many times in history already for these doomsday predictions, so life your life, dont let yourself fill up with fear..
Notice that Floor joins the kids choir at end and connect that to her charecter she is in video, she realize something during video, Toumas said so in a interview i watched..
I didnt read the book 1984 written by George Orwell, but the song got reference to that book i belive.
At first listen i needed another listen, at 3th listen the song got me, and i started like the children choir, i actually think its a pretty good song, and something not heard like this from NW before, now i listened to the song many times!
I do think Tuomas once again prove he is a master composer, who make lyrics to make you think, and make melodies fitting the theme of the song.
This is not a Empuu shine song, there is heavy guitar rhytm in the middle section and end, but not the big Empuu solo, but i also think this song dosent need it, because the Children choir takes spotlight instead,..
The title the day off.. is missing telling what its the day off, so i think this is where you can put in the optimistic view of the song, as a listener, if you like to, and hear the song that way, the listener decide what its the day off.
The original idea was this one to be 1st single, because it was a diffrent sound from NW people told Tuomas, this have to be a single, but then Tuomas decided it should be Perfume of the timelees, and this 2nd.
I belive a 3th single will be out before album release, being last track on upcoming album, called Lanternlight.

Thanks for sharing your insightful reaction to a song that gets better & better with each listen, which is something that defines greatness in songwriting. The composer, Tuomas Holopainen, has said that this song is his take against all the fear mongering that plaugues main stream media these days. It's a form of mind control to keep the masses of ordinary people in line with official narratives of the ruling class.

Yeah Y2K, the computers or rather the programming code in them was originally setup their calendars last up to 31.12.1999 and then the Calendar would have continued but flipped on to the beginning depending on what that was - for arguments sake it could have been 1.1.1960 - so NO ONE before studying and analysing all codes did KNOW how the code/programming would behave when this would happen - it could only give you funny wrong dates OR it could crash the code or if that code would have been responsible to inform the altitude of the airplane from the ground and gives wrong altitude and it could have crashed the airplane when pilots think in their descent that there is still 984 feet and suddenly they hit the ground in full flying speed etc. AND in financial institutes some of the code was from 1950's with the same problems, the money transfers could have been waiting from the code's thinking 1960 to 2000 so 40 years or at least until the code is fixed. So there were real tangible risks in the code unanalysed and that is why it was a big hassle before the 1.1.2000 would be reached. The possible risks reached all the way to USA and Russian nuclear missile launching programming codes, so YEAH risks were real, but of course Media and different cults expanding it to be a sure End of the World, The Day Of..

A lot of these scary potential disasters, which can get overhyped by fear mongers do have a real problem which may or may not be avoided. Y2K for example, was a real problem which could have had devastating effects because many computers were not programed to handle 4 digit years. ( Programers tried to save space in files in the early days when memory space was limited.) I was one of many who helped to fix these problems within the software and files, so that when we got in year 2000 not to much would go wrong. People got a little crazy about what could happen, but the worldwide attention to the issue helped us all avoid the potential disuption/disaster.

Wow, thank you for all of your work to keep things running! To think, of all the things that could take modern civilization down, who would have thought the number 2000 could have possibly brought on the worst of it. Yikes.
