I just want to say that I love the callouts you do to your son and nephews in both the Late Brake Show and in Smith and Sniff. I can't imagine how cool it must make them feel every single time, and it costs you nothing extra to do.
Thank you for noticing. I don't know if they watch all the videos (probably not) but to have some positive influence on younger generations of car lovers is really important to me.
Great upload Jonny, thank you. FYI: Urquattro means “primeval quattro” in German and is pronounced “oorquattro” (1 word) rather than “u are Quattro” (3 words). Other examples are “alt” vs. “uralt” (old vs. ancient) and “Adel” vs. “Uradel” (nobility vs primeval nobility). Looking forward to the Capri barn find. Best regards from the Netherlands 🇳🇱.
Damn. I had two Integra Type R’s. One was black and the most recent was Milano Red. I purchased it from the first owner, it had a full Honda service history with every receipt since new. It has only run Mobil 1 0W40 since new and burnt zero oil even at 170k when I sold it. I serviced it every 1500 miles as I am OCD, and totally rebuilt it with £25,000 spent including two full repaints. In its last incarnation, it left me with Tein Type Flex coil overs, Whiteline adjustable front and rear roll bars, strut braces, Spoon N1, Tegiwa manifold, buddy club shirt shifter, Retrimmed recaro seat, Seibon carbon bonnet, 16” light alloys, Tarox brakes. It was like a banshee on full chat! I even put a custom baffled sump on, and inspection of the bottom end showed it to be brand new. In hindsight, it was better as a stock car with factory suspension and 15” wheels. A truly epic car. Better than my E30 M3 for sure.
Sounds like an absolutely epic car! I've also owned two DC2 Integras both white UK cars like the one in the auction. The first one was #00018 - the second one would have been one of the last UK cars & didn't have a number on the plaque - both were pretty much kept standard - the last one I sold back to Honda for their heritage fleet - & since been featured in a number of magazines & on RUclips footage, sadly it met it's demise in the hands of one of the aforementioned RUclipsrs - though its still registered as SORN on the DVLA site? They are incredibly raw cars (even in standard trim) & can definately be described as a 'Cult Car' - I remember having a discussion on one of the forums that the ITR was as much a drivers car as any Porsche or Lotus Elise etc - I think time has proven this to be true, especially as cars like this are just not manfactured anymore. I'm sure the car I sold to Honda was in much better condition than the one shown here in Jonny's video & was sold for a lot less than the end auction price (£15750) - despite the low miles some work (& £££s) would be needed to bring it back to A1 condition - the front of the inner wheel arches could be hiding a real horror if the famous 'slot' hasn't been filled!
Love the old 60's Capri and wish I had the money to buy it, with it's classic American styling. Believe it or not the other car that caught my eye was the Ford Probe. I've always loved the styling of these cars and never understood why they are disliked so much. Great video and some lovely cars. Have a great Christmas Jonny.
My greatest regret in my classic car life was turning down a genuine (and cheap at the time) Capri RS 3100. As soon as I saw you in front of the Capri it all came flooding back! Back in 1980 I was looking at a new job out of Sydney in rural country NSW. I was then driving a VW Beetle so I thought something with a bit more Oomph! might fit the bill if I got the job! As I left Sydney for my initial interview I passed a Toyota dealership selling new Toyotas but I spied a black Capri parked out front (I knew nothing about 3100s then). BINGO - I was offered the job, after the interview and being on a high I stopped at the Toyota dealership on my way back into Sydney and they fell over themselves when I showed interest in the RS 3100 - they wanted it off the forecourt, good riddens ha ha. They said take it, take it for a week! I left the Beetle behind and headed home feeling like a king as only a 20 year old can. What a step up from the VW, lovely motor. My mum hated it, calling it a 'black coffin on wheels' and my elder brother who owned Alfas and Porsches thrashed it on local roads. After a week I realised with my new job I'd need an estate car so returned the Capri sadly. I often wonder were it is now as I believe only a limited number were allowed into Australia at the time only for racing events, mine being a rare example for road use? I believe the black colour was non-factory? Australians who read this of a certain age will recall the 'Super-Roo' decal used on fast Fords here in the 1970s, someone had put these on the front wings of the Capri. www.pinterest.com.au/pin/497718196297568976/
Jonny, you missed a trick there with the green Escort Mexico. It's not GOF, it's GOFI!!!! As in Chris from the old Top Gear and all that. Nice Faaaaawwwwwwdddd. Hope it does well for the family who have put it up for auction, as you say 👍
After one of the recent Smith & Sniff pods I was a little worried for Jonny at the end when he jumped up near the beam to go to the lav. Thought he might crack his head again. Cheers for the vid, oh to have some money, some tempting stuff there.
I bought an Ital estate for my wife in that colour ,when I brought it home she refused to look at it and slammed the door in my face leaving me and the car outside. When we came to sell it 4 years later she cried at its passing, she still compares all car headlights to those on that car stating that they were the best she has ever driven behind, it was crap but she loved it, it transported kids dogs baby and associated gear all over the place, and she would move my Range Rover classic out of the way to take it out. Crap but loved, it’s what we all aspire to be!
I had one that my grandparents gifted to me when I was 18, a beige estate 1.7, my first reaction was of a similar type to your wife's, however 5 years later and countless trips all over the country carting friends to and from uni I too have grown to love that car despite it's inherent crapness (I did have to swap the gearbox 3 times though).
Always liked the look of the MK1 Fiesta, The re bodied Boxster looked good. You know you’re getting older when it’s been a long time since an Ital was seen 🙂
Having owned a few 'classics' over years gone by, I absolutely love the nostalgia of your CCA preview videos, Jonny - great work, dude. My only regret is not having the time (or inclination...?) to learn DIY mechanics - I prefer the warmth and comfort of the living room to the cold and discomfort of a garage...! 🥶 Have a wonderfully relaxing Christmas, Jonny - filled with love and laughter. 🎄
Thanks for watching. I hear what you are saying and can relate. The key is to make the garage or shed more homely, and to decide what jobs you want to tackle and what you want to leave to the pros.
Nice to see cars 20 years old being classed as a classic. I passed my driving test two years ago at the age of 53 and I bought a 2003 Honda CR-V SE Sport. We’ve replaced anything it has needed when it’s broke inc the Condenser,Compressor and Aux belt. A third party CAT and o2 sensors. But even the simple things like the heated wing mirrors and sun roof still work. It comes with the all important picnic table 😂 and is an ex Honda dealer car for its first 12 months. Only downside is that it’s done 132,500 but that K20A engine is bullet proof as well you know 😉
Oh I'd be all over that Audi Quattro, absolutely magnificent in that colour, the rebodied Porsche Boxster is special, & then the purple Europa, oh hell yeah, Rj in Oz
To think when I was a young lad I used to screw the crap out of all of these old cars, then once I ran them into the ground I’d take them to the local scrapyard. Not so much the mercs etc but all the capris, escorts..etc. lovely to see them looking so good.
You would start the show with my DREAM car behind you…..i have always wanted a pagoda top Mercedes SL, especially a 280…came close twice but they both required more work than i could realistically put in on them so i am still looking….great preview!
I never thought I'd see a car more difficult to get into (actually getting out is way worse :) ) than my brother's Lotus Europa that he has had for....45 years or so. I wish I could fold up like you still can mate!! Love from NZ. And season's greetings to all watching. Take care and drive safe all.
I was doing some electrical work with my late father in the 80’s when a largo blue quattro came in the workshop for its PDI and still had its wax on. When i opened the door oh that smell
Would love to see your friend and mine, Richard Porter, involved in these walkarounds. Need to see him spear off across the room to something like a tidy Alfa 164 tucked in a corner so he could excitedly tell us how it was the only model of the Type Four cars to have unique doors - the Fiat Croma, Saab 9000 and Lancia Thema all shared a door design.
Jonny, would love for you to do a follow up video letting us know what these sold for. Also your thoughts on whether they went for a song or good value. 😀

honestly, it's too much money though. You can get a rock solid, forged turbo mx5 for £10k with just as much power and equal reliability really if tuned correctly. The mileage isn't what kills these cars anyway it's chassis leg (mk2.5 like this one) or sill (all of them) rust. So yeah, get a £10k 250whp turbo mx5, or if you do have £30k...many other options exist (I'd get a supercharged S2 elise with spare change for trackdays). Jonny 'I can't fit in this' then gives it a go... classic 'man logic', have a good week mate and thanks for showing us some great cars.
I had the same sensation, and just now read your comment! LOL... Had to hold my breath!
I could buy the two Impreza and the Integra for the price of that Ford now what is a better deal
I wonder if he managed to get out without ending up being sprawled on the floor?

What a gesture leavimg the Audi to the mechanic ❤
It has happened to me a few times! Never with a car like that though..😂
