    I'm still loving this series, Jonny. This is such a therapeutic process. Working with a great bunch of professionals is good for the soul, great for mental health, and I can't wait to see the 2CV in person in 2025! Very best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year! 😊

    Loving this patina kept early 2CV. Makes such a refreshing change to see with all those show queens of all types more commonly restored from barn finds.

    I have to admit I’ve never had the love for the 2cv, BUT I’ve got respect it for what it is and what it did for moving the masses. As a piece of pure utility, it’s quite excellent.
    I do however love this project and not just for the ‘algal’rithm. The patina really does make it. Like all your projects, it’s one of be proud to own. Top work and what an awesome bunch of guys working on it too.

    Great lunch time watching. Love it. I pulled a 2cv out of a barn in France about 30 years ago that was covered in old hay for about 25 years prior. Got it going and drove it around the country lanes for a few months. Beautiful memories. David

    Love the simple design of the 2CV. I was wondering how the chassis forward of the firewall could be so lightweight a structure (see for instance at 14:58). Then I realized that the leading arm suspension and side spring design moves the suspension support point aft of the forward frame to a location at the base of the main body frame arch - a brilliant design. Similarly, the trailing arm design at the back unloads the rear frame portion of the vehicle's weight.

    Since a 2CV4 (smallblock) was my first car, I pay much attention to this show. I added a self-constructed methanol injection to outrun the 1300cc 44hp beetles of my school friends (yes, it worked). The TÜV (you would call it MOT) was not so sure about that ("What the hell is this??"). End of the Duck (as we call the 2CV in Germany).
    But this was in 1982.

  • @crashbox7130
    @crashbox7130 11 часов назад +5

    With the headlamp switch the V is for Ville (town) and R is for Rural (countryside). In V you have side/tail lights in one position, and dip/side/tail in the second position. In R you have dip/side/tail, and main beam/side/tail. The light switch originated on the pre-war Traction Avant and remained in production, fitted to the 2CV, right up to the end of 2CV production in 1990.
    And it's true that it's the Law that 2CVs must be fitted with yellow headlamp bulbs. I've never fitted anything else than yellow in my car. 😁
