Jonny - quick question (love these videos), is there a way you can do follow up videos so we can hear what the featured cars actually go for? (unless I've missed them, in which case apologies)
I could spend a lot of money there😮, one quick question, when you were looking at the XJS jags, why did the red one have a BMW grill stuck on it, bonkers!
From the Auction site: Leading Jaguar dealer, Guy Salmon, commissioned a limited Jubilee Edition (1935-1985) of 25 XJS 5.3-litre V12s, of which only ten are thought to survive Distinguishing features included four round headlights, a unique front grille, roof spoiler, extra chrome work, Walnut veneer throughout the interior and a Moto-Lita sports steering wheel
Hi Johnny, Ford Fiesta ULH 467X. This car was sold at Matthewson's Auctions in March 2024 Lot 515. It sold for £6200. We looked at it with the intention of buying. At the time of viewing on the 12th March 2024 there was damage to each of the wheel arches. The o/s front wing was rotten through where in joined with the sill. It required a fair bit of work. There was extensive paperwork and the back story that we were given was that it had stayed "within" one family. It was believed (so we were told) that the damage to the arches was caused by an elderly owner driving it in and out of the garage. MOT history shows MOT in 2011 and then a gap to 2024 when it has been recommissioned
Your comment about circling things in the Argos catalogue hit home. I remember doing that, and doing it with the annual Scalextric brochure too. Oh the Mk1 Scirocco! Sorely tempted by that. You just don't see them. My Dad had a Mk1 in silver, N reg, when I was a kid. I remember travelling in the back somewhere at night with my brother, mum and dad in the front, and Labrador in the boot. He overtook another car but didn't see the blind bend approaching and we sailed straight on into a field. Hit a big fence post and the Scirocco ended up with a big V shaped crease to the front end! We all survived unscathed. Would love to own one.

Assuming it goes for around ten, the 996 with anti-engine shattage fix done is a steal. Very nicely built car and a whole lot cheaper to run than you might think. I'm fancying the red Mini or the red 996C2S.
Top of my list the merc 190, but I wouldn't say no to the clio v6, the tommy would also be nice. For me the bargain is the DS Citroen, that is very tempting, it is 1 of my dream cars. My dad was Interceptor crazy, never had 1, never driven 1, just loved them. Thanks Jonny😊

I'm an older guy (62). Even here in the US, we love Rowan Atkinson. Gearheads (petrolheads) here know he loves cars, too. But he's always be Blackadder to me! Doesn't he run vintage at Goodwood quite often? 'The sound of pistons cross the glen..' 🤣
Another Excellent video, in my head I have just spent a large amount of my retirement savings 😂 and you know what I may have done just that a few years ago. But for a while I have been unsure of where the classic and modern classic market is headed. All that said I am a car guy looking to buy something, so I have ear marked 2 cars so if either is at the low end of the guide I will have 1.
Interesting to see that Evo V, as I just saw one at a car show this AM here in Colorado. The other highlight was seeing an E30 M3 which I hadn't seen in close to 20 years. It had 12000 miles when I saw it all those years ago, now it has 16000. Same owner from new. It is in an extremely rare red, I was told they made only 16 in that color.
Thanks for this. I do love your auction preview walk-arounds. (I didn't know where were factory XJ-S manuals... must be a UK thing, simple North Americans don't know what to do with 3 pedals).
Can I afford 90% of the vehicles Johnny so passionately showed? Absolutely not. Am I stoked that there is such a beautifully eclectic range of wonderful motors still being traded!? F yeah. And to be fair, they’re not outrageous covid prices either. Happy bidding people; I’ll live vicariously through you as I watch the auction.
That 996 is delightful, I've been looking at them for some time (along with E46 M3s and R3 RX-8s)... Rear-wheel drive, room in the back for the littl'un and a high revving, characterful, naturally aspirated engine - sweet, sweet bargain.
@@Retrobeemer I've seen clean manual ones up for between 10 and 20 on various platforms. They really are an absolute bargain at the moment, I don't think it will be the case for too much longer.

You didn't include it, but the orange/red Jaguar XJC with the black vinyl roof you stood next to at the end... That's such an effortlessly cool car. I wouldn't actually have one myself but definitely admire them from afar, especially the V12. Lovely selection of cars anyway! Get that Carrera bought, Jonny...

1.6 GTI looks extremely original. Being a stickler the centre of the wheels should be polished but the grey bumpers were exactly how they came. Selling mine phase 1.5 1.6, its good with 130k miless if anyone fancies one!

I stupidly want that Clio V6. Not practical, not cheap but I don't care!
The audi or manual xjs are bloody lovely
That 911 is so you Jonny ❤
No way its going for just 10k though.
@@Retrobeemer I've seen clean manual ones up for between 10 and 20 on various platforms. They really are an absolute bargain at the moment, I don't think it will be the case for too much longer.
27:27 if you zoom in thats a Volvo 780 Bertone, very cool and rare as rocking horse poo, plus a lot less awkward looking than the other Bertone design Volvo commissioned. Thanks Jonny, c.m.t.m.b 🤘
Yes, saw that come in as we were finishing. I think we recorded a vid on Tiktok for it.
Sweet sweet oktion
Oktion
Aukshon
Ockshun? 😂
@@TheLateBrakeShow Love that it gives me the option to translate to english :D
Great preview, I am safer window shopping via your videos. However whenever I see the 90s stuff I am always met with the why didn't I buy these when they were x amount a few years back.
1.6 GTI looks extremely original. Being a stickler the centre of the wheels should be polished but the grey bumpers were exactly how they came. Selling mine phase 1.5 1.6, its good with 130k miless if anyone fancies one!
