Right now, the problem is that Labour are promising growth but in order to actually create growth they need to break the "fiscal rules" that they have painted themselves in with. The rules at least make sense in the "traditional" economic circles that they move in, but they don't work for our situation, so they're stuck. They either need to spend less, or raise more money. The alternative is raising more money, but they've promised everyone they won't raise taxes, so if they change on that then everyone perceives them as lying, and people's trust in them goes down even further. In my opinion they have to put a wealth tax on people with asset worth over 10 million, and somehow force the wealthiest in society to spend money (on goods and services, not on assets like houses and stocks), so that it injects some money into the economy that can circulate around the working class.

The rules at least make sense in the "traditional" economic circles that they move in, but they don't work for our situation, so they're stuck. They either need to spend less, or raise more money. If they spend less then they are funding public services less, which is bad for the economy.
I don't know what i hate more. That KB can get away with such a flagrantly sexist insult to RR and get away with it. Or the looks of adoration that the male Torys gave her for "Saying what were all thinking" I wish the public saw how awful the oppositions is being with their discourse this parliament.
Interest Rates are at 2.5% today. Brexit is a MASSIVE reason why UK businesses are failing as they are unable to meet demands for export. Everyone knows that in 2022 the Tories raised NIC at 1.25% and as soon as Labour does it the country goes into meltdown. She's forgetting about all the times her own party had issues with dodgy MP's.
Calling the Tories a "blank piece of paper blowing in the wind" - OOF
Wealth inequality is the reason standard of living will decrease in the next few years apart from the wealthiest of people as they take all the assets. We must tax the very wealthy far more than what we are taxing them right now. Immigration was never the biggest issue in this nation, its the economic divide between the ever growing poor and the progressively wealthier rich.
But, but, but the tax avoiding billionaire MSN owners say that it's all actually the fault of...oh...wait...
Rubbish it's costing billions to keep these illegal immigrants stop this madness now stop all handouts and send them back they are simply economic migrants this what the majority of the British people want you will see how we all feel during the next election or local councils reform going to bust you all
How does taxing the rich make me better off?
Would the government reduce my taxes?
@@andrewpalmer2745You might just get a proper health service, no shit in the rivers and a proper transport system. All like proper counties do.
What do you define as very wealthy?
Tax wealthy cash asset rich , now we are in 15 years of Tories talking 💩
And labour ruin the country again
Two horrendous bullies sat on that opposition bench that somehow haven't been held accountable
I never voted Labour but when she says why should we trust anything they say is a bit fkn Rich coming from them.
She could be reading the front page of The Daily Mail out loud.

@@blue_jay31 erm... what?
The Tories would do well to say nothing for 12 months, go away and comeback with some practical, workable policies. This current hypocrisy being spouted has a stench that I personally find suffocating. Every time a Tory opens their mouth at this time, its such easy fodder for the government.
Badenoch gives 'ineffectual flailing' a bad name.
Keep Kemi as leader, she will lead Labour to another landslide.
I can't stand the Conservatives especially Badenoch but not having a strong opposition that is capable of holding the government to account makes us all worse off.
Not long now for Bad Enoch.
Was Priti Awful sitting there muttering "hubble, bubble, toil and trouble"?
Severely tax the rich.
Severely work the greedy welfare poor
So that we can all join the conversation, please define "rich" and which taxes would you propose for them?
They will just leave the country
Does not work mate.
She is a ignorant hopless politician full of self importantance full of crap
“Two-tier justice”, “Rachel from Accounts”, how utterly pathetic do the Tories have to be that they’re resorting to Reform “talking points”?
Stay strong Rachel.

Anyone blaming Labour for 30 year gilt yield rise has no idea what they are talking about. They should not be taking seriously.
Good point. I have just listened to a Financial Times podcast. Gilt yields have gone up for all major economies . The UK gilt yields are shadowing these.
In the USA gilt yields are at 4.7, in the UK gilt yields are also at 4.7.
Not me seeing empty town centres because of the Tory leadership.
Not me seeing a rape gang scandal and cover up because of Labour leadership. Not to mention the illegal war.
Loving Starmers quips to the Tory leadership, he needs to do more of them. It's brilliant to watch :)
Is it?? They are both as useless as eachother...
Vexkiddy. Nothing brilliant about Starmer week after week keep talking about what he inherited from the tories, he can’t bear to be challenged over his own disastrous premiership, , he loves to point the finger of blame , he’s incapable of listening to any other point of view but his own ! A thoroughly incompetent minister!!
This would be hilarious if it wasn't tragic. The tories were so destructive, and here they are now claiming sainthood. Ms Kemi is seriously out of her depth. Clutching at straws.
She'd be out of her depth in a puddle. All cheap shots and repetitive bullet points. Starmer should have asked her to show him where on the globe the Chagos Islands are.
2/3's of businesses will raise prices in order to keep up with their unrelenting disgusting greed. They don't "have" to, they choose to.
If I hear 22 billion black hole once more!!!!!!!!!!
Rich people claiming they are vulnerable. They don’t know the meaning of the word.
She is the leader of a party that has failed.
Be careful to write them off - the Tories have been kicked out for scandals before and bounced back.
The comment on Chancellor gender was disgusting. How would Badenoch feel is someone said "Tori were very proud to elect first black woman as leader but they'd better elect someone intelligent".
Kevin has stated many times that race and gender are irrelevant, and merit is the most important thing. Labour chose Reeves because of her gender, rather than her experience (not that she has any).
@English_lifestyles who told you that Labour chose RR because of gender? May i read a quote of that?
@English_lifestyles Nonsense. How was jam salesman, Jeremy Hunt, qualified for the job but BofE Economist Rachel Reeves not?
The entire treatment of Reeves reeks of misogyny, all heaped on top of tbe customary huge portion of Tory lies.
mercifully the tory looting spree has come to end.
Entire planet ABSOLUTELY HATES Keyr Starmer and Labour Party!
I suspect that is an incredibly unlikely statistic🤣🤦🏻♂️
The Tories left every single aspect of Britain, from health to justice, from education to trade, from prisons to policing, on the brink of utter disaster.
The gall to blame the current government
Are you having a laugh? Starmer could never make anyone look worse than himself. He's absolutely incompetent.
Depends?, how can you look at a Tory and take them serious after 14years, ps I will be voting reform next
Politics Joe are aimed at uni kids. So they have to follow Starmer like a sheep (despite the way he treated Corbyn). Middle class socialist basically
Unlike Boris, Truss and Sunak, useless idiots who destroyed the lot in Britain, Tories spent 14 years destroying Britain
He always makes her look silly, she's useless!
All these people are absolute clowns. They think its a pantomime screaming and shouting whilst the British people are struggling to survive because of them. They all need to go
they represent output from British businesses, universities and schools. this is the best we can do. we don't have better people here.
Tories talking about corruption...PPE 9 billion wasted..its unbelievable.
Im sick of hearing about the 22bl black hole. Just get Harding in the dock and get the 37 bl she spent on nothing back

She very smugly talks 💩💩💩 and believes it.
Vote reform
Honestly kemi just comes across so condescending and unlikable, even in front of Starmer.
I wish they'd drop those ridiculous 'fiscal rules' and tax the pointless Rich. 'Tax and spend' does help heal the economy, as long as you tax those with too much and spend to fill the pockets of those that keep the economy buoyant. Perhaps if they worried less about money and more about human wellbeing Britain would be a better place.

I just find Badenoch totally unconvincing and feel I cannot believe anything she says. It appears to be all written for her and she just reads it out. Sir Kier probably can't believe his luck!
What a shambles! Our parliament is a disgrace. If they dont treat each other with honesty and courtesy then at least they could show a modicum of competence.
Remember, the OBR is a think tank the Tories set up in 2010. They’re not an NGO, they’re not independent. They were designed and staffed by people that Cameron and Osborne wanted to give positions of power over economic policy to
I feel the only person who looked silly was Starmer, all he says is he inherited a mess, but he campaigned saying he was going to bring change but he is making the situation worse and sending us in to rescission!
Just as well he is changing things then, isn’t it. You seem to be on the list of people looking silly with comments like that.

"fastest growing country in the G7"........ kemi we were only the fastest growing country in the G7 for one year (2022) AND we were the fastest SHRINKING economy in 2020
Covid ? 🤔
@DJH660 even given COVID the UK suffered much more heavily than much of the rest of the world, we had high "growth" in 2022 because we were still rebounding from COVID. In other words it wasn't growth but a return to normalcy. The fact is the conservative government never oversaw the UK during a significant period of growth over the last 14 years.
To be fair, I wouldn’t vote for Labour at the moment. But yes this was a stronger performance from Starmer, and the Tory leader is not getting the hits she thinks she is
