I'm from Rochdale (and can pronounce it correctly, it's not Roche-dale) and I'd just like you to stop mentioning the towns in question, the towns themselves aren't important it's the crimes and the victims and how to protect those victims and stop further abuses across the entire nation. Just get on and vote to put the recommended changes from the previous enquiry in place to protect children and young women against this happening now. Then after that is done you can start a new enquiry but only AFTER the previous recommendations have been put in. That way at least whilst you have your enquiry you are wanting there is more protection to fight grooming gangs in place than there was yesterday. Enquiries are just years wasted spending millions getting nothing done when we all know what needs to be done from the last enquiry and can do it now and stop there from being more victims of abuse.

Isn't it super awesome when a party after 14 years of negligence towards the victims can just turn the whole story around and blame it on your political opponents. A political opponent who has actually done much more to help the victims and put the guilty in jail than you and your party ever did? Great, really, how convenient.
The old Conservative song: Do nothing, neglect everything, protect the guilty and delay the trials, and when you're not in power, use whatever you screwed up yourself to attack your opponent with.

The point is that the issue of CSE of this type has been going on since at least the 1980's and that each successive government has done nothing about it. I'm not shilling for the Tories but my opinion is that the only reason Labour have suddenly addressed this issue is because they were being criticised by Elon Musk. To my knowledge it wasn't one of their policy proposals prior to the election. If at the start of his premiership Starmer had announced "we're going to do what the tories couldn't on the issue of R gangs" then I'd have more respect for his government. No, there was in fact some reference to fear of being labelled racist among the authorities who "turned a blind eye". I have no idea whether it was said in good faith (my instinct would be that it was not), but it seems a rather shabby excuse. Rape is a physical crime that leaves physical traces. It can be determined objectively, without reference to race or ethnicity. In my opinion, far bigger reasons were misogyny and classism: the police didn't care much about people they saw as "low-class girls".

@@mrow278 Pester someone who is actually doing these things is my advice to you rather than pestering someone trying to help. #gimmestrength also if you pester someone with patronising nonsense you do not get to act a victim when they tell you stick it up your ass ok 👍

Delaying things for ANOTHER enquiry is ridiculous. There are recommendations from the previous enquiry, put them into law and then go from there FFS.
Attempting to exploit this for political gain is sick but exactly what you'd expect from the Conservatives. It happened under their watch, they did nothing about it until they were in opposition...

why don't they ask people in the effected constituencies if they want an inquiry and then either do one or don't. no need for this theatre.

The actual issue is authorities admitting on court papers that they turned a blind eye because “ideology” - they even called this a noble decision.
No human should be mistreated or unsafe because of pre packaged ideologies!
