      The old cliche of a London bubble. London is a city of over 9 million people and has some of the most deprived boroughs in the entire country. It's a city made up of people of entirely different life experiences and thoughts so maybe stop with this London doesn't have a clue as if it's a one giant hive mind

      I think Fry is grossly overrated as an intellectual and, in my book, he certainly isn't one of the heavyweights.
      Yes, he makes the right noises etc to give that impression, perhaps quoting an author or book that nobody has ever heard of...or using phrases to give the impression of intelligence, but that's all it is, smoke and mirrors.

      Starmer is not a politician. He’s a prosecutor. He did it very successfully as opposition leader as he turned the House of Commons into his personal courtroom to prosecute the missteps, mistakes, peccadilloes and errors of the government of the time. Now he is in charge he is beginning to show the same frailties of those he so successfully prosecuted. Little wonder the tactics he employed are now being deployed against him himself. He’s leaden footed and I worry about how he will perform over the next period.

The OP is whining because Farage Rioters were sentenced more quickly than Just Stop Oil protesters. It's childish and silly. Rioters are always dealt with swiftly, it happened under Thatcher too.

      To be fair compared to the disasters Tory party. Stammer was the only option. Marr has never hidden which way he leans and has tried to be fair to all sides but it felt like the Tory party were doing everything they can to lose.     I notice that they dont linger on the total failure of Starmer and his cronies. It's hardly surprising! As for the comment from Marr that "we get angry at them for what's really us", well he speaks for himself not the majority of UK citizens!

    Celebrities or other high-profile people using their position to promote their political opinions has bothered me for some time. Why should a great actor, singer, or business leader have their views heard by millions when most of us have jobs that don't have the platform they have? I even go as far as saying they're abusing their position.

    This interview confirms that people can be academically clever but not have a shred of common sense. Stephen Fry lives in a fluffy priveliged world completely unaffected by the problems experienced by the average Brit in Labours Britain.

      Your point was acknowledged by Stephen Fry near the beginning of the video. The fact is that the Labour party had 14 years to prepare to form government and this is what we've got, ........ as Fry said himself "disastrous". The labour party's performance to date is totally inexcusable and a complete abuse of democracy.

    Sometimes watching these I feel a bit bleak and start to worry I'm going mad - that's why it's so satisfying to be able to go to the comments and see people voice exactly how I feel (and usually expounding on it better than I ever could).

      Intelligence doesn't prevent people making mistakes. Why? Most people make their decisions subjectively, rather than objectively. And subjectivity is more vulnerable to being misled. It's as simple as that.
