depends on yourself. If you are a local shanghai person , maybe your salary will more than 10thousands dollars per month because you have rent fee to get, most of shanghai local people working in government units that get more than two thousands one person per month. If you just an immigration, not very excellent, maybe one thousands dollars per month from your working only.
Honestly your estimation is quite accurate. That is the cost for whom will live in Shanghai. It is the city that you can find everything if you have enough money :) Enjoy your time here!
I think "sorry, I'm late" is fine. Just make sure to use it every episode because there is no point if you only use it rarely. Also, keep up the great videos! You will get more subscribers. They just need to come across your videos. Edit: I forgot to mention but when you put text and words over the video make sure there is more contrast. For example, in this video the there were sections in the video where the black text was over darker colors in the background and it was hard to read. like 7:02. Thank you! I love your videos!
For the opening you can start with ' Da Ga Ho ' . That is a very local thing (in Shanghai ) to say to everyone when you are standing in front of a bunch of audiences.
Definitely make use of the handy-dandy Chinese apps that they have available. They make your life so much easier, I will leave out the apps you can use to check-in when using public transportation, ordering food, etc. but definitely download Didi (Chinese Uber but so much better), WeChat Pay or Alipay (their mobile payment platforms), Mobike or Ofo (apps to unlock shared bikes) and Ctrip (it's a multifunctional travel app that you can use to book your flight and train tickets, hotel accommodation and even see what a certain place has to offer. Also, Chinese people are very open and welcoming, but reality is Shanghai has a lot of people and it is a huge dynamic city. So you can encounter some (accidental) pushing or whatsoever when entering the metro.
@@v7w37 Thanks for your sharing, this "自如友家" is mostly with shared apartments, if I want find a single apartment nearly by city center in Shanghai, I couldn`t find less than 800 dollars per month and most of them did not includ electric fee. Last time I find an apartment with my friends, which is a two-room-apartment in Gu Bei, Hong Qiao, cost three thousands dollars per months.
That is super cheap compared to where i come from (Australia). But i expect salaries are probably significantly lower in Shanghai. Can you let us know typical salaries for various jobs? Like how much would an IT worker with 10 years experience get paid? Or an Engineer? Or an Accountant. Or someone working in Finance etc? Then it will be easier to understand how affordable it is to live there. Great video though!
Those who go to teach English (or any other subject) can make 1900-2800/mo, and have rent paid for by the school. To me, that's the best deal. That's how I'm able to move to Shanghai.
Brendan Farthing 10 years IT/Engineer job for large MNC companies in shanghai would earn 100grand AUD equivalent. Senior Managers in MNC in China May earn more than Aussies.
The average wage or salary in Shanghai is much lower than in Australia or US. The average monthly wage or salary in Shanghai is around 8,000 RMB ($1,200 USD or $1,700 AUD). Of course, if you work for some big multinational companies, your wage or salary will be much higher than that to the point that it's comparable to what you will earn back home.
I was waiting for this video to come out. At 1:05 you were on the metro at the same time I was. It was a bit crowded and I tried to say hello to you, but I guess you didn’t see me. I was wondering if I’d appear in it or not? But it looks like the camera didn’t see me either. Next time man.
@@jameseamonncollins1131 haha I can't say exactly but a few metro stops out from downtown basically. Regarding the noise, yes I live at 6th floors and its a bit noisy. The further up the better, but It also depends if you face towards a road or not. :)
WTF is French concession? Are you still living in 100 years ago or you still have the daydream? The name is XuHui District! So I could also say that there are still many places in France named "German Occupation" ?
@@DETTMARMagnus I think at 2:30 the area of the former French concession is just too large. It even includes Minhang. It's actually only a small narrow area along Huaihai Road.
I like it "sorry guys im late!" it's humorous and unique. it makes ppl feel that they're waiting for your video, which can be true.
Haha, maybe that’s it then!
Tack för en grymt informativ video, Magnus! Flyttar till Shanghai nästa månad, så detta var extremt hjälpsamt! Tack, och keep up the good work! :)
how much basic salary in Shanghai?
dude, you don't need opening line, just be yourself. the content is the most important

Way better to live in other cities. China is much more interesting in small cities.
8000 for a flat is rather low, lived in 3 places, always payed more than that
