I lived in China from 2005 - 2009 not working just having a another adventure in my life. Just like you , I have never enjoyed another country like I enjoyed my stay in China. I toured the mainland and lived mostly in Chongqing for one year but my focus was really in Sanya Hainan. Its the tropical island in the south. I managed to stay there 4 years and left like I was in paradise. I know you understand that.

it will be a long while... the american airlines (not that particular airline) don't want to be in a disadvantage against chinese airlines that can still fly over russian air space, hence a shorter route to the US... so they lobbied the US government to force the chinese airlines not to fly over russia. of course, that's an over-reach chinese wouldn't agree on. so only absolute necessary routes have been resumed. I don't see the situation changing any time soon...

Cheap and delicious food, good and cheap healthcare, tons of huge parks, excellent public transportation, bullet trains, amazing hikes, close bond between people and family, fun nightlife, tons of things to do, friendly people...and even if you're an introvert it's just fun to walk around and see all the locals outside after work dancing, working out, playing badminton or ping pong and just any other activity.
Best to just go yourself! Even if you don't speak the language.

Your video brings back good memories of Shanghai (I was last there in 2018), and the place looks different yet the same. I like how it's greener, less polluted.

I've been to few Asian countries and I always love the experience beyond anything I've ever experienced in the West. And yes, China and Shanghai are on top of my chart so far.
