How could it be that one country gets two rankings? Isn't it against the National security Law. Should Chief Lee be arrested for accepting the result, and promoting the 2- country idea in public?

Me and my brother used to go to Hong Kong all the time during 2017, 2018, and 2019. The last time we went was the November before pandemic started and we witnessed protests, riots, police blocking roads and throwing tear gas, etc. One memory I have is us having to run from tear gas being thrown on the street, we hightailed it a few streets down and took refuge inside a 7-11 while we waited for it to die down. Going home using the metro was not possible that day due to riots and protests, we had to call an Uber and even that took us having to walk 30 minutes to a different part of Kowloon for the driver to be able to pick us up. We saw firsthand what was going on at that time. Other than that though, I have the best memories of traveling to HK multiple times in my life. The feeling I get when I'm there is unexplainable. It's retro and luxurious, but heavily cultured and down to earth, yet nostalgic and timeless at the same time. It is a place that I will always keep close to my heart. So glad to find your RUclips and see how things are there in the current times. Can't wait to see more of HK. Kudos, enjoy and be safe.

Met my future wife in Hong Kong. Been married now for 15 years with a 11 year old daughter. Love living and working in Hong Kong , but glad I’m now in the States.
My family is from Hong Kong and I’ve hosted Chinese and Japanese students in Los Angeles for 25 years. The students from Hong Kong spoke the WORST English. Two of them had to go back because they couldn’t comprehend the language and was failing in their classes. The last time I stopped over in Hong Kong I couldn’t hardly find anyone that spoke any English. So happy to continue my travels to Shanghai.
Hongkongers were never known to be good in languages. They were miserable in Mandarin and English. But they understand them very well as HK is very international.
So awesome to see you in Hong Kong! I traveled there in 2018 and I absolutely loved the city. I’m from Las Vegas originally. I reminisced a lot about it sense I left. Thank you for bringing me back. Amazing culture. Amazing people. Definitely a unique city that I hold dear to my heart.

In the 80's and 90's that little Hong Kong and Japan were neck and neck in terms of everything. You should learn more about Hong Kong. Hong Kong was a legend.
My first time in Hong Kong was 1987. It was love at first sight. I took my wife there in 2010 and it was still as wonderful as I remembered. I weep for that Hong Kong. I hope it reinvents itself into something wonderful again.
Wow, you visited Hong Kong around the height of its cinema. 80s and 90s Hong Kong movies were popular all over the world and you were right there, in the epicenter.
Lived in Hk for 7 years we even brought a Hong kong rescue dog back🐻with us. What a place, the people the vibe. I loved it....covid caused us to leave 😢 because of work. But it is one of the coolest places on the planet❤. Love your video 👌
Can't imagine you can swear in Cantonese and did foot message in HK which is a very local experience there. As a Hongkonger, I've even never tried this since I was born. Thumbs up!
I went to HK first in 1990... One night I met the commander of the British forces in HK, he took me to Wanchai, insisting we'll have a Scotch in each bar!! I think I got to 40 pubs...and drinks...the next morning I woke up lying passed out in front of a HSBC bank being woken up by a HK policeman with all the employees in their Monday best waiting for me to move away from the entrance...
I lived in. HK for a few years as a kid, my dad was in RAF. Lived in Kowloon Tong area, HK will always hold a very special place in my memories. Fantastic place.

@@34口2fds蛋トマgs Might have changed since the hand back to China and their fight for democracy. I guess you have to be bloody minded in the face of oppression.
@@jasonsmart3482 You know nothing, and your conjecture based on your poor reasoning and biased views are down right pathetic. Firstly, let's address your reasoning. What does being arrogance and rude have anything to do with dealing with oppression? Nothing. Secondly, Hong Kong people had that reputation before the handover. People from mainland China were always looked down upon by Hong Kong people. Show your parents 大陸燦 and ask them what it means. Chinese mainlanders were labelled as locust by Hong Kong people. ruclips.net/video/9RsYLTLiECQ/видео.html&ab_channel=danny852100 Hong Kong never had democracy under British rule, and it was never promised universal suffrage after the hand over. So why we never saw riots on the scale of 2019 before the handover? Is not having "democracy" acceptable just because you are ruled by white people? It was never about fighting for democracy. It is all about the xenophobia towards people from mainland China and hatred towards the CCP.

That comment about Google Maps not showing the elevation hit home haha

It is unexpected a guy missing HK and returned here after 3 years. Thanks for recording this ridiculous city today.
Tommy, You are the first person to really give a feeling of Hongkong.
That massage place was definitely blade runner...
Hong Kong changed my life as a teenager. I met some of the best human beings
I left Hong Kong in the middle of 2021, haven't gone back there yet. You have shown the spirit and vibe of Hong Kong better than perhaps all the other youtubers I have seen.
and i nwill never visit
Your videos are both entertaining and educational! Thank you !😅
Haven’t been to HK in 11 years but I lived there for 5 months. I loved it there. I miss it. Have you ever had the coconut buns. I got them all the time and I so miss them
u mean 'pineapple' bun?
You know it's going to be a good day when you see a Sabbatical upload. ❤
Brings a smile to my face every time
Always!
When he upload it's always my time to sleep 😭
100%. My favorite travel vlogger. Better than Bald recently
No shit sherlock
I am from Hong Kong . Thank you for introducing my city❤
Met my future wife in Hong Kong. Been married now for 15 years with a 11 year old daughter. Love living and working in Hong Kong , but glad I’m now in the States.
"丢雷老某"🤣it's hilarious to see an American curse in Cantonese. Dude just made my day.
Fair play, really jealous of the way you pick up enough of each language to be able to have decent conversations! Amazing!
Yep, I'm glad to see his video here as well!
Thanks for visiting! As a HK citizen, we are delighted by your great experience here back in 2018!
PS: Our boarders are open again so we look forward to welcoming you back in the future if you ever decide to visit us again!

Nobody is from Vegas, brottle baby ? No daddy, only a show business Mother ?
Why you love communists?
I've been obsessed with Japan for many years and it's sad to see that you're not gonna upload new jp vlogs for now, but I never knew Hong Kong was such a beautiful city before. It's really like out of a cyberpunk game, maybe even more like Japan. Thanks for the quality content as always!
HK and Tokyo both have the neon lights everywhere....Seoul too.
In the 80's and 90's that little
Hong Kong and Japan were neck and neck in terms of everything. You should learn more about Hong Kong. Hong Kong was a legend.

Your channel is one of the best on RUclips!
I think this is one of sabbaticals best episodes.
I used to be a real estate agent in this area your video bring back lots of memories. Your Cantonese really surprised me😆
Lived in Hk for 7 years we even brought a Hong kong rescue dog back🐻with us.
Thumbs up!
Day has officially been made. Thanks for another video!
Tommy's "problems" with the ticket machine gave both me and my wife a good laugh! In both Canonese and Vietnamese what he said means the same thing!
I can feel your love to Hong Kong. Thank you
Youre my favorite youtube traveler. Some of the guys are too nonchalant and disrespectful for my taste. You are wholesome and well mannered.
The perfect traveler and tourist.
RUclipsrs rarely travel to Hong Kong
I think you did a very good job
I've never seen a big travel youtuber vlogging it, it's super rare.
Covid restrictons made it almost impossible the last three years. :(. But it was interestng to see youtubers like Sabbatical exploring Africa and such, as they were much more open that we were here in Asia.
Peace for the world
How mad are you, why you support the communist hate ? peace, You ???
Hitler peace ? Good job ????
FCK these communists, evil people !

I agree especially being for a huge city 🏙️, but don’t worry I’m planning to make vlogs when I move there this year
lived in hk for 2 years, and visited countless other times. haven't been back since the crack downs.
i love this city to bits - the people, the food, the grimes and the mess, the shiny glits, and everything in between. and so i'm forever heart-broken.
Thanks for your love for our home!
this feels so nostalgic and strange at the same time, the last time i went back to HK was 2012. I spent my first 18 years of my life in HK, but then I never went to those massage parlours nor clubbed back there. Appreciated this little trip with you, thank you!
Not gonna lie, this vlog is way much better than the "Hello Hong Kong"ads
You know Hong Kong so well! I'm glad that there are still people who can see the beauty of my hometown. Thank you for making this travel vlog.
Thanks for shooting this amazing video. For a person just moved to New York from Hong Kong for little less than a year, your video does hit me, especially the part in Hong Kong island, those staircases at the Mid Levels and Sheung Wan
New York as expensive as hong Kong lmao
I was actually born in Hong Kong but never remember it as my parents moved to the Uk when is was 9 months old. Would love to visit one day. The two things I remember my parents saying they liked about Hong Kong - the food and the friendly people..
Except Hong Kong people are known for being arrogant and rude around the region.
@@34口2fds蛋トマgs Might have changed since the hand back to China and their fight for democracy. I guess you have to be bloody minded in the face of oppression.
@@jasonsmart3482
You know nothing, and your conjecture based on your poor reasoning and biased views are down right pathetic.
Chinese mainlanders were labelled as locust by Hong Kong people. ruclips.net/video/9RsYLTLiECQ/видео.html&ab_channel=danny852100
Hong Kong never had democracy under British rule, and it was never promised universal suffrage after the hand over. So why we never saw riots on the scale of 2019 before the handover? Is not having "democracy" acceptable just because you are ruled by white people?
It was never about fighting for democracy. It is all about the xenophobia towards people from mainland China and hatred towards the CCP.

Great vids as always. Thx. Glad u use sponsors now. To support the vids. Cheers from Taiwan 🇹🇼
I love your content, Tommy - but the sound quality on this one made it very challenging to watch till the end.
I spent 10 years in HK in the late 80's to the late 90's. I still visit periodically, but to me the 90's were the golden age of HK
It’s the 80’s
80s and 90s both is years the best of golden HK.because of their TVB drama and movies and their cantonese song with famous and talented singer .With this entertainment is well known in South East Asia, Canada ,China and US.

as a Hong konger, just wanna say thank you for loving our city and presenting it in a truthful, down to earth way. I'm watching this video overseas on the first day of lunar new year. this is making me sentimental. thank you for making this video!
Hey brother, I want to visit Hong Kong but will Chinese govt detain me with the New Security Law (Applicable to everyone on the planet ABSURD but its true) ? I have posted some anti chinese govt posts a few years back online. Whats your take on this ?
@@dillianna96haha, you’re so cute, as a Chinese, I promise, nothing for you to worry about, even as me, also did something to complain about some officers in the government, because I wanted them to do their best for our country
@@weiwujiang6884 lol thanks for the assurance though.
@@dillianna96most guys are misunderstanding the security restrictions of China, in their minds, no one can speak any bad words of gov, all the people are in high-pressured domination.
But actually, you can say anything online if it’s the truth, even it’s about gov or politics (except secrets lol). If gov finds your words are not proper to display, they will delete it, but will not arrest you or something, the worst thing I can imagine is losing your social media account forever.
Presupposition: you are posting the truth, not rumors or other apparently fake things to attack gov.

I was there around Christmas too. First time in ten years. My extended family is there. If you have the means, it's a great city with mountain, coasts, and easy public transportation. Nice to watch this to revisit. Dying laughing at you swearing at the ticket dispenser. Same thing happened to me.

One week in Hong Kong in 1966. Good memories, including the landing into Kai Tek airport. Wonderful, vibrant city.
@10:52 that made me LOL. The midlevel escalator goes down in the morning for all the office people to get to work. they reverse back to going up at 10:am each morning.
I love your cantonese speaking. Especially at the metrocard machine. 😁
This brought me so much nostalgia - best tour of HK I've seen. I was an exchange student there for 4 months back in 2015, I was 19. He captures so many little things I forgot about the city, like those public squat toilets, the elevation with all the stairs and the escalator, and the tree roots climbing down all those little walls. That comment about Google Maps not showing the elevation hit home haha
