It might be expensive for Asia but surely the quality of life is way higher than in Europe and in America. In London you pay way more than what you described and you live in a filthy house full of molds… Public transport here is so expensive you will need a mortgage for that 😂 I would love to have the opportunity to live in such a place like Shanghai 😊
A ticket from Admiralty Arch to Colindale costed me three pounds. You can travel from Dishui lake to Huaqiao, a 137 km trip for 3 hours by underground with around three pounds. In China price for chicken breast fillet is normally 2 pounds per kg while wings are around 8 pounds per kg. To teach students with spoken English is probably the most common oppunity to live in Shanghai, annual salary would be around $30,000 to $ 40,000 I believe.
You are right Mikel! Shanghai is very expensive if compared to other Asian countries.
Exactly 💯... I can't wait to move to (Shanghai)China in general 🥰
Facts
Thank you Fancie, I am planning to come to Shanghai and have been looking for such video about living costs in Shanghai
No problem! I’m glad this video is useful for you one way or another 💛 I wish you a pleasant stay in SH.
Very interesting video Fancie.Compared to the food prices in America the prices you are paying sound crazy! Some of the other things you mentioned sound very expensive also. But, and I hate to say it as an American, you get what you pay for. Shanghai is a beautiful, modern, and safe city. Big cities in America are the opposite of that.
I’m glad you liked the video Andy! Yes, different countries have different cost of living. This is also very interesting experience for me 😊 Have a great evening!
The difference between the NYC subway and the Shanghai Metro is just night and day.
Communications are cheap in Shanghai, for about $30 a month you can have a 1G fiber optic broadband, plus 60-100G of 5G data on your phone, 1,000 minutes of domestic airtime, and a pay TV line.
You are absolutely right!
Great video and very shocking to see the price differences between shanghai and dublin where I am... I always wish they could just make some changes here for the better, they wont ever learn!! I cant wait to come to shanghai, I'm counting down the days :D
Thank you Chris! You will be here soon ~
Shanghai is such a futuristic looking amazing city, I would love to visit one day
Just come here if you have the chance. It's an eye-opening experience!
Informative. Thanka for sharing...
You’re welcome ☺️
Hot A/C. Never heard that before. Probably no need for Hot AC in Thailand. In North American we call it a heater.
Yes! A heater
Concise & to the point
Thank you so much Hammy!
rental depends on which area you live, I am paying 9500 for my 2 room apartment, pretty close to city and all my friends said its so cheap.
biggest expense in Shanghai is Rental, private health care and education
everything else its a matter of choice.
You are lucky to get the rent of 9500 for 2 rooms. Totally agree with you comment here! Enjoy your life in Shanghai and happy Mid-Autumn festival!
I'm moving to shanghai in a few days. Was in Hangzhou but it's where my new job will be. By the way, you have great taste in music!
Thank you so much & welcome to Shanghai!
Hi Fancie, I have been following your videos since the beginning on your journey. As you were moving from one county to another country. This video is a great breakdown on your cost that you must spent. It is a great comparison as well to the cost on things there. Some of your expenses are high, as other ones are cheap. Rent is like the same in different parts of the USA. Your utilities cost is cheaper then here. Your cellphone cost is a lot cheaper as well too. It is a balance of the two as well. Food cost is higher here big time compare to you. Other cost are cheaper here but you have to shop around for them. Your vest was cute that you got. What does it cost for your adventure trips that you take on the weekend?
I definitely agree with your statement Anthony! For my weekend trip in Shanghai, I won't spend that much, may be less than 100RMB I would say (not including shopping though haha)
Great video, Fun!
Thanks so much! 🎉
Can you compare the prices with what you need to pay in Bangkok?
Interesting content 😊 Let me travel back to Thailand on my vacation and I will collect some footages for this video!
ทำคอนเท้นท์ดีมากเลยครับ 👍
ขอบคุณนะคะ 😊✨
谢谢 您。As you can see my Mandarin is very advanced. Just want to ask how difficult is it to find a modest apartment where I can keep a pet a cat. Also fitness the gym?
I believe more than 50% of apartments in Shanghai are pet-friendly so I’m pretty sure you can easily find the one you like. There are plenty of gyms and fitness as well. I think that Shanghai people are pet lovers and most of them taking good care of their health and body. You can hardly find overweight people in this city 😊
In U.S, I used the very bad and slow internet, but I have to pay 76 dollars for it. Can't imagine that you can use the free wifi.
Only some apartments provide free wifi here and I’m choosing the one that provides it 😊 (even if I have to pay a little bit more)
excellent video many thanks good look in you life
My pleasure Ed! ✨
Online shopping is best in china. 淘宝京东 拼多多
That’s so true!
You're able to navigate thru all the apps in Chinese? Your Chinese must be very good by now
My Chinese is quite ok, sometimes I just select the option by looking at the pictures and search for the words I don’t know using dictionary 😊 Yes, survival skills applied ~ It gets better over time
@@funfancie so this means you're pretty good with using AI in your job as a financial controller?
❤❤❤
great video. do you still live in Shanghai?
Thank you! Yes I am 😁
How much does middle manager position potentially made per month as average? Please help :)
I have lived in SH for 4 years and I don't think it's expensive to live in. I spent about 10000 rmb per month excluding the rent, and I can afford basically anything I want. Lol.
Yes, for me the expensive thing here is rent to be honest 😊 and 10,000 RMB is more than enough to enjoy amazing life in Shanghai. Cheers!
@@funfancie understandable, there are cheaper rent options in Shanghai but it depends how far from the center you are willing to live. I pay just 1900 rmb for rent for a single apartment
@@dazkaris That's very interesting to know M. I'm also thinking about researching different price ranges of apartment in Shanghai and come up with video series for that :)
Hi may i know which area/district are you staying in shanghai ! Wanted to know as im looking for housing myself!
@@macylim2000 Hi Macy, I’m so sorry but have to keep my apartment area as confidential, just for safety reason 😊
Shanghai expensive for who ?? Surely not Americans who spend $5k on new Oled tvs, $5 loaf of bread & $5 for eggs 😂. Rent in the ghettos are $2000/month. There's a reason 🇺🇸 men want to retire abroad. Great video
Nice info 👍
Thank you Yanuar!
@@funfancie you welcome
Indian big cities home rent 15000 to 20000 indian rs. in ind much expensive.😅😂
How much is that in usd?
@@funfancie 1usd is 82 ind rs.😁😂
very expensive city
Indeed!
You are spending $500/m for dinning out ,that's a lot dear
Yep, food here is quite expensive
@@funfancie Then how ab saving money, a lot of ppl say that china is good place to save money ,or that only apply on ppl who work as English teachers there?
@@fatisummer9106 the average income per head is also higher here as well to support high cost of living
That’s around what I spend in London on groceries and 1/2 takeaways a week. Some expats in China never ever cook at home from what I can see.
Do you mind telling me which mall that is?
It’s a mall at Central Avenue metro station ✨
Thank you so much🥰 I appreciate your content as someone who just moved to Shanghai!
@@funfancie I think it's name should be Century Avenue, I would recommend beef noodles restaurants in that mall.
@@user-wk6em6lr6r yes! You are right, Century Avenue
@@funfancie There are many high-end shopping malls in Shanghai.
enjoy ur staying in sh
Thank you Tim!
