"get off our phones and just walk around" this is my favourite way to visit any new city for sure! Even if you visit the regular tourist attractions, at least budget some time for casually exploring on foot. It's the only way to find all the really fascinating nooks and crannies. Of course, I say this from the perspective of a (hobbyist) photographer, but I think even for "normal" people, the touristy places are only superficially interesting.
I lived in Shanghai for 2 years working as an English teacher. Shanghai is one of the best cities in the world! The Shanghai metro is without a doubt, the best system in the world and The Bund at night is one of the most amazing things you will ever see. Great vlog, guys!
Between the content, Josh's narrating, Lisa's explanations and the music, you two have become two of my top travel vloggers. I cannot wait to explore Shanghai some day.
Intro narration is INSANE, guys!! Literally so captivating. Hats off to both of you. Your travel vids are probably the closest to Anthony Bourdain’s on RUclips right now. Amazing work. You’ve outdone yourselves! 🎉
I love the way I learn how to pronounce things correctly in your videos. Even if it's not 100% accurate, it's never for a lack of effort. The striving for cultural accuracy, appreciation and respectfulness always keeps me coming back for more. I love the frenetic pace of the intro only to be met with this calm and unbothered city. You guys are my favorites. I tell everyone I know about this channel.
Yay you guys are back! My partner and I just got married and we’re watching your videos religiously to find honeymoon inspirations. Thank you for being the best, most relatable and down to earth travel vloggers out there :)
They are the best travel vloggers! Josh's narration is top notch. Lisa supervises it all and ensures Josh stays on point and says the right things 😀. For example, Josh correctly pronounces Shanghai, unlike most Americans who say Sheng-hai.
This is the quality of the new season? This is out of this world! I wish I could like this video more than once! Looking forward to seeing future videos from you two 🎉
Arrived in Shanghai in 2009, Culture Shock - lived in the French Concession in a tiny wooden house. I wanted old China but they've pulled it all down. Very different after Covid, apparently. Never really felt at home until I moved to Chengdu, Sichuan (where the Pandas come from). Lived there for 5.5 years. China is amazing, the people, the food, the culture - even if you don't speak the lingo. Now living in Thailand. Thanks for this video guys, I could taste those dishes!
@@GaneshPalraj1991 It's not about "not developing", it's about preserving some of the history. Culture is built on history, so if you tear down the history you lose some of the culture. It's possible to preserve historical areas of a city without adversely affecting development.
Glad to see you had fun in Shanghai and Hangzhou!!! 💗 Two things: 1) I think the trick of eating xiao-long-bao is to put it in a spoon --> make a small opening on the wrap --> let the soup out in a spoon --> first have the soup --> then eat the xiao-long-bao 😀this way you can avoid being burned 😂 2) I visited Hangzhou last year, and instead of touring around west lake, my friend and I went hiked to one of hills/mountains on the horizon, having the best view on the lake + city center. 九溪十八涧 is what it's called, with beautiful tea fields, fresh greeks, old and huge trees. The entrance was 30-40min by bus from west lake. can only recommend for your next trip to Hangzhou!! 💗
Thank you, thank you…. ❤I asked you a few months ago to go to Shanghai and do a video.. You did it, I’m sure it was just for me! so very happy that you did, I leave ina few weeks! Great timing. Thanks guys.
Hey Lisa and Josh, this was one of our favourite episodes ever!! We love Shanghai and travelling along with you guys brought it all back to us in a way that travelling with good friends does- making it extra special! Man it would be cool to bump into you guys in a place like this and buy you a beer and say thankyou for all the fantastic entertainment you have given us and all the travel experiences you have allowed us to share with you! You guys are definitely some of our all time favourite RUclipsrs. Keep living your best life and stay safe and enjoy your travels. Best wishes from the Ryan family ❤in Yallingup, Weatern Australia.
Out of curiosity, what work do you do? I'm a work-from-home programmer so for me an extremely tiring day is one where where bugs in production software constantly threaten to grind everything to a halt and the stress is high (but thankfully that's rare).
Love watching your videos! The way you capture all of the small details that a lot of other vloggers would skim over makes the experience feel more full and immersive. Keep up the amazing content and stay safe!! ❤
Guys, slow travel is the way to go, enjoy your journey, don't rush it! When I worked on cruise ships I had to try McDonalds in every country I visited. I found the yummiest cheeseburger in Türkiye and the most expensive cheeseburger in Denmark. PS. you should have a disclaimer telling people not to watch if they are hungry, I was literally salivating every time you guys ordered food 😋
Big time Pudong hater here but this video may have convinced me to give it another try. Which I recognize would always be a good idea since that city seemingly goes through a transformation approximately every 3.7 seconds. Was fun to see y'all exploring our old stomping grounds (our first shared apartment was about a mile west of Panda Bar.) So hungry right now.
if you're looking for nostalgia, we've got that in spades :) thank you so much for watching - and yes, it did feel like the entire city changed from when we flew in to when we left. it's incredible.

Hi, great video! I rode a bike on that section of bike path in Pudong last summer when visiting my gf, and it's definitely great views. Little suggestion: properly mic yourselves up better for better audio quality and more consistent volume! edit: China Rail has this weird pricing terminology in high-speed rail where "business class" is actually a tier higher than first class. The "first class" is just a glorified second class with more horizontal space and more legroom. On such short trips I will more likely go for business class but with a budget that's understandable
The correct way to eat Xiao Long Bao is to put it on a spoon, poke a hole in the dough first, slowly absorb the soup, and then eat the whole thing. This way you can enjoy the delicious taste without burning and hurting the mouth
Great video as always guys, but I am glad to say this is the first time in a while your video has made me happy to not add somewhere to my trip next year - not any fault of your own but it just takes me back to your Dubai video, the place just seems a bit soulless from what I can see.
