I agree with you on principle that no one can replace him, but this singer does a really good job! I think it's hardest for the singer who has to step in that role, no matter how good they are, because they are being asked, in a way, to step into the role that was filled by a legend. Can you imagine if The Beatles decided to rejoin after John Lennon's death, but had someone else in his place? I love that bands like The Stones and Kiss and Chicago stay together through the decades, but as things happen in life (harsh splits, physical death, etc.), one or more original members are gone and someone stands where they used to be, not replacing them (as you said, no person is replaceable - everyone is unique), and the almost inevitable comparisons are made (like, "yes, he's good, but he's not (fill in the blank - name)... "he doesn't do it like (so and so) did....") So, in a way, it's almost not fair to the new bandmate.

They were a true super group in every sense of the word. The awesome guitar work in the early albums. Cover bands struggle with the skill these guys had particularly vocal ability. True British music royalty for me during ultra competitive times in the 70s
They were a great studio band but having a number of their 70's bootlegs, not surprisingly, they really struggled to replicate that vocal sound live and often came off sounding quite flat in comparison to the albums. I guess they'd have been fine in the modern "live" era with autotune and backing tracks though. :-)

Brother, we’ve both changed a lot over the past 40-50 years. I haven’t gone bald yet either so I don’t need to dye my wig either. I wish Lady Gaga would send me something too. Your music has held up over the years and it rocks as hard as it did when we were young lads. The Sweet was ahead of its time and will always be one of my favorites.😎
Thanks for your comment 😊 Thank you for sharing your story 😊 As Lady Gaga sends her used wigs to Andy you probably could not get those...maybe Lady Gaga could send you her used glasses? 😂😂
The Sweet' is responcable for bands like KISS, (both Sweet and Alice Cooper) Early quiet riot with Randy Rhodes is (total influenced by Sweet. Sweet influenced twisted sister although they might not be proud of it. I'm sure there are many bands. But I have too say of all the bands The Sweet influenced Casablancas (ANGEL) were probably most likely too succeed. Casablanca should've signed van Halen also instead of righting van halen off as too heavy.Casablanca went bankrupt with Angel. I think Casablanca must've kicked thenselves in the ass everyday.
As age tells you to limit your physical extravagances you hope there's someone out there that proves you wrong. I haven't heard or seen Sweet for decades. Love is like oxygen (I don't remember the album name. But I got their lp somewhere in my loft) was one of my favorite compositions. Time gave me new favorits, but when I hear this I'm heading straight back to my loft. My first remembrance of rock music with guitars playing rock and roll with classical references are still one of my most important eye openers in music. It lead me to groups like Sky, 10cc, Elo, Pink floyd, rediscovering The beatles, and a new respect for Mozart, Grieg, Elgar, and a lot of other classical composers. Finding this video was gold for me right now. I love their music and I'm allways greatfull for their imput in my musical evolvment. I just have to find a way that my bad knees can climb the ladder to my attic so that I can blow the dust of my records and rediscover glamrock. I did'nt know they still existed, but I'm very glad they still spreads their magic.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us 😊😊 First of all I really hope your knee is getting better or that someone can get those vinyl's for you from the attic.😊😊 Really amazing that this brought back memories. Andy Scott was basicly always touring...beginning of the 80's was a break otherwise he is always on the road and said a few years ago, that he wanted to retire and did a final tour...he than decided he wants to continue as long as he can.😊😊 Andy wanna rock forever 😎😎

I just found this band about a year ago and its obvious Queen took a lot of things from the Sweet.
@@thetruthchannel349 Many bands got inspiration by The Sweet 😊😊
@@dannyhood8857 Thank you for your comment. 😊 Nice to have read your opinion 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this with us 😊😊 First of all I really hope your knee is getting better or that someone can get those vinyl's for you from the attic.😊😊
Really amazing that this brought back memories.
Andy Scott was basicly always touring...beginning of the 80's was a break otherwise he is always on the road and said a few years ago, that he wanted to retire and did a final tour...he than decided he wants to continue as long as he can.😊😊
Andy wanna rock forever 😎😎
Lovely song 🎵 ❤
Totally agree with you. 😊
I saw this tour in Clitheroe and have seen the Sweet since 73 in Blackburn ... this is the best line up for many years
73 I wasn´t even born :D Born only 1984,so I never had the chance to see the original line up live :) I only saw the line up with Pete Lincoln as lead singer,he was very good, however I think Paul Manzi, the current lead singer, is the better choice for the rock songs. I still enjoyed all the concerts I saw with Pete as lead singer and I think he is amazing in his band Frontm3n where he performs songs from the sweet. :) If you subscribe my channel, than you would not miss any future uploads :) All the best :)
I was 14 again last December. Was transported back to 1973, the atmosphere was eclectic.
Interesting thing about Andy Scott as a guitarist: unlike others from his era out on tour, Andy's technique and vibrato just keep getting better and better with time. Go Andy!
Andy is still rocking and nearly 71 now. Hope he keeps on rocking, really want to see him live on stage again,so I can upload more videos :) Please feel free to subscribe to the channel,so you will not miss any future uploads :)
He plays the old way without power-chords and the guitar sounds classic sweet
@@henrikcarmel1 Very underrated guitarist/singer, impeccable timing & melodic sense !
Awesomeness!

It is not ELP, it is Aaron Copland
Brilliant
Copeland did the original but ELP made it Popular that ABC Sports used it in the US as the opening theme for many Olympic and Championship events.
