I saw this as what her actions portrayed... a play on the original, almost a spoof. Haley is too good to have meant it otherwise. The song is, after all, .... a sad and depressing mess. Musically impressive, but lyrically a cry of depression.

the genre makes it sound different, but try singing along with her. when you sing it the way she does, you can feel the emotion behind it
