Every time she sings the same song, it's never the same. She's always changing things up, twisting a phrase or dynamic, taking it somewhere else. So few singers can do that at will and so consistently. One thing I don't understand tho.....she should be a major superstar, she sings better than almost all of them. A mystery.

If Haley were a superstar, she'd be singing the same crap as the other superstars. then there's the producer, the record label and the management who do market analysis for you on how best to sell you and you sell the most when you make undemanding music. Fast food for the ears. look at Lady Gaga, actually an amazing voice and then listen to the crap at her concerts. Haley is known enough to make good money and unknown enough to play what she enjoys. besides, the majority of their numbers are cover versions, so even if they're awesome, they won't get you to the top.

there is this Spanish band called sant Andrew band they hard core jazz lovers and they also do cool renditions of bossa nova clasics. I have dreamt of them having a collaboration with Haley but alas it was just a dream. I wish I would dream of it again hopefully.
I think the acoustics in those huge stadiums suck so bad anyway. This version is so awesome. I have the version she sells as a solo track with the high school jazz band - with the sax solo dominating - it's not as good as this small venue recording. oops - just posted this above. hahaha.

Frank, hi from Providence, RI, I watched idol 1 year, I think it was 2010? Haley and James got robbed, so, I'm waiting 10 years to see Haley live, finally, April 4, 2020 I have tickets to see her in Boston....April 1st, covid cancels the show. Outside of Lzzy Hale, I think Haley is the most talented female vocalist because she can really do it all from a technical standpoint.
@@kevinwalsh4652 Definitely got robbed! OTOH, it was probably a blessing b/c Simon would have demanded she sign with him and she wouldn't have been allowed to make her kind of music. She has a lot of videos with Casey Abrams who was on the same show. She was the only artist I would listen to on YT until I discovered Angelina Jordan who also has a jazz background but sings any song with her special arrangements and undeniable unique voice. She one to look for in the near future as she just turned 17! Here's a snippet for you from a song she performed at 10. They didn't promote it well. Just emailed the people singed up to their list. Was a travesty that there were actually seats not filled. Four shows over two days.

Haley is an excellent performer who sings extremely well . She’s also a great performer who will never have to take of her clothes to deliver a tremendous performance anywhere. She just has pure talent that needs no exotic behavior. Just so greatly talented .

Go see her in concert. She sounds so much better live, you won't believe it. On RUclips, virtually every one of her performance videos has very substandard audio. Not to mention that she also often appears over weight, but that's an illusion caused by camera distortion.

She was on American Idol but didn’t make it. I thought her voice was better than the two who won. The two winners had very generic country voices. She and Jacob Lusk were my favorite from the season. Pia Toscano was good too.
Fell in love with her on Idol! Her versions of Bennie and the Jets and Zeppelin with her dad were as good as the originals. She should have won it all!
She lost because she didn't have a sob story like the other winners!
Had American Idol only permitted "one vote per individual voting", as opposed to "almost unlimited power voting", Haley would have easily won the show.
Haley praised Adam Lambert and Siobhan Magnus and I would have loved to have seen her sing with Adam. I didn’t care for the two who won. The boy especially. The girl who won is an actress now in Hallmark movies.

It's much more pleasant seeing a show in a small venue. If you're watching the band on a screen, you might as well be home. I thought the band was good.
I wouldn’t call the band second rate. I thought they were fine and did a very nice job of backing her.

Still better than the original but I will say I wish someone had turned the metronome up about 15 to 20% because if only for the sake of the horns and drums and as when they are too slow they almost sound stale or drugged. In which case you would have been better off just with a piano and her voice
Just her and the piano would be amazing. I'd keep the stand up bass in there as well.
I think that's the goal - to push it as slow as possible. Is it 60 bpm? that's ideal for secret reasons. For example 2nd movement of Bach's Italian Concerto is played very slow by Glen Gould - best version! Most people play it too fast.

She was with the "No Vacancy" orchestra on this night. Got the impression she is not touring with Scott Bradley any longer. This band was excellent.
She hasn't toured with PMJ in six years. As even though she all by herself made PMJ a viral sensation and in turn Scott Bradlee a millionaire, Scott Bradlee wouldn't pay her more than peanuts.
