If your radio is big like mine then there’s barely any room there. Like you can tell I was struggling to fit all the harness and modules in the back lol. But you might have luck putting a small cooling fan! There’s always a chance.
Glad I found your video. My wife inherited a 2013 Optima EX and has Nav and integrated climate control in stereo. The car only have 23K and touchscreen doesn’t work also can’t sync our IPhone to stereo. I Didn’t know how I could get an aftermarket to work. I ordered an EX climate control from eBay and will buy new stereo next week.
Yes everything still work the same way. You’re basically adding the different cluster so you can see the temperature settings on the little screen instead of on the radio.

Thanks for all these videos. I knew it was possible to change out the radio on an optima with factory nav. About a year or so I called Crutchfield and they told me what was needed. But then I called them recently and they said they recommend not changing out the unit because I have factory nav and they don’t have anything for me. Sigh.
@@Djrulez203 Yeah. Weird thing is that the website actually said the same thing, which is why I called them...only to be told the same thing by the support. I'm still looking around for options because I really want to use Car Play and I want to get rid of that old outdated factory unit that only says "streaming" when playing from my phone via bluetooth.
@@InfiniteRiffs see I would’ve gotten android head unit if I could but I had a radio sitting around with CarPlay from different car so I decided to just install that. But definitely if you can get your hands on android head unit def worth it cause you can watch RUclips and all other apps like you’re on a tablet.
@Djrulez203 okay maybe it's just the radio you use?. I replaced mine with a boss BCPA8 and it just distorted when trying to bring up volume and lower than stock head unit was.
@@JaayRiv from my personal experience boss radios aren’t the best. They’re okay if you have cheap speakers with it. But speakers like infinity sound system that optima comes with you need high quality radio.
Does your new unit has the capability to show A/C information? If so, is the information shown on the unit when you make a change on the A/C control panel?
My pioneer radio doesn’t have gps/gps antenna. It got CarPlay so it just displays the phones gps on the screen. But I think crutchfield sells a gps adapter that you can get and use factory gps antenna with it. I’m not 100% tho.
The 12v to 6v converter, is that only for the models equipped with navigation? Crutchfield says it doesn't fit my car which is a 2012 SXT with the Infinity system, no navigation
@@Djrulez203 yeah also one thing I noticed is my non nav camera cable have a white connector and not a black one, do you have an email or FB so I can message you bro. I ordered the 6v to 12v converter anyways. But the connector is way different than what you have on the video
1. The black wire was part of the old ac control module. You don’t use that as the new ac control has its own screen. 2. It’s too much headache to do factory mic. Plus people may not hear you clearly so I went with the radios mic.
@@Djrulez203 I wonder what is the exact function of the black wire. Does your outside temperature still work in your speedo cluster? Also, the nav system has a 7.1 system whereas most of the Android systems support only 4.1. Do all of your speaks work?
@@EverydayBingo I’m not too sure what the black wire function is and yes my temperature shows on my cluster still!! All of my speakers work. You have to get amp retaining module if yours have factory amp.
right at @2:30 timestamp, do you think there is 15-20 mm clearance on top side to add a heat sink/cooling fan ?

The sound was worse, though, right after replacement?
@@JaayRiv the audio was much better after the installation. Stock radio sounded trash in my opinion. But everyone’s different.

No this car doesn’t have a module that will let you control from the unit.
Where did you put your GPS antenna? I'm getting terrible connection on the left duct inside.

From what I read online, 12v to 6v converter is required for any car that has factory backup camera. I bought mine from Best Buy.
