Great Video! My stereo had an electrical short that wouldn't allow the backup camera to display on the screen when I shifted to reverse. The dealer replaced my rear camera and the sensors. Then they quoted me $875 plus labor for a new stereo. So, I found a new stereo online for $600 and installed it myself using this video. It saved over $500! Thanks guys!
Just had to do this, before finding this video I was going to pay someone to replace my dead Optima Infinity stereo....but after watching this and see how easy it is, I did it myself today. Piece of cake, great instructional video, spot on.
Did you replace it with the same unit? Just wondering because my optimas screen cracked and i got a used replacement coming but was unsure if it needs to be coded to the car or not?
@@jarrodlee8112 Yes I did. Found one on eBay. We still own the car, and the head unit is still working great after all these years of replacing it (8 years ago).
Very helpful video! I have a 2012 Optima SX and it was very similar to remove the radio. My problem was when the dealership replaced my UVO head unit back 9 years ago, they pinched three of the wires between the radio body and some sharp metal ledge. This eventually caused a short which killed all audio output from the radio over time (would work in winter, but not in summer - had to beat on the dash to get it to work). I thought I had a cold-solder joint on the radio PCB or a bad connector connection (I used Deoxit D5 to clean and lube all connector contacts). But all along it was the pinched wires (I could see the metal wires). I re-coated the pinched points with GB liquid tape and moved them out of the danger zone. Seems to work great again!
Is your helper Darth Vader? "Luke, this is how your father removes a radio." Seriously, I appreciate you making the video. It will help me replace the head unit in my wife's car.
Do you know if a 2011 Optima stereo like the 1 in this video, will fit in a 2013 Forte. My Optima is on its last legs but I want to put the stereo from it into my forte.
Great video I am trying to finding the backup light switch to install a back up cam. Any suggestions on where I can find an easy place to tap into? Thanks and again great video!
can you tell me a link or what the wires on the back of the radio are for, i want to install an external amp but im splicing in a rca converter into the stock harness
external amp hookup is ez buy a loc from bestbuy and tie in to the stock sub run remote wire for external amp from the blue wire from stock amp and it should be good to go
What's with the heavy breathing and the oh yeahs........ooooh yeah......ooooh yes. Wtf?? I just want to see the video not hear someone rubbbing one out to a stereo removal.
My car (optima 2014) front left speaker have problem a..... After see this video i finaly extract never mind. Is hard چون من یک شیرازی هستم و این کار برای من ۲ هفته زمان می بره بخدا.😂😂
All you can hear is the old SOB breathing heavy in the background. Please get him medical attention... and Jesus. Judging by his fingernails, I bet his breath stinks too.. I feel sorry for the guy performing the work because it was clearly bothering him.
This is why I would never buy this car because of all the steps it takes to replace a sh*tty factory radio and the car isn’t a high end one so no need for the complexity

How can I connected outside of the car to see if my screen works
Now how do you change the fade and stuff like that one the radio that was broke because that’s what radio I have and I can’t figure it out
all i hear is the guy breathing from behind the camera. XD
I'd either move the mic away from my face or seek medical help for a respiratory illness. Or as I might say to my son, go smoke another one.
How does one crack the screen mounted to the car?
merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo qui m'a bien servi

K B I agree about the radio. I have a 2016 and it’s a bitch on certain things.
Who care? I am only watch step by step how to remove the radio.
